I know it's different and maybe a bit tin hat of me but I can't help but think if Arsenal had Liverpools season they'd be dragged through the coals and be called bottlers. Meanwhile pundits everywhere are lauding Liverpool..

Next year should be great. United will have the rested squad every week like Liverpool had this year and I expect all top seven teams to improve sans Everton. Spurs should be better as their new guys get settled and there should be legitimately six great teams fighting for four spots..

Well the difference between 4th and 7th is pretty large. The fact that liverpool went from 7th to 2nd is impressive. If Arsenal had gone from 4th to challenging and choking then the criticism would be mostly deserved. Lets also not forget Arsenal have come under a fair bit of criticism this year as well, to be fair they kind of did bottle it after February. If United and Tottenham weren't so bad that 4th spot would have been pretty challenging. Arsenal's early dominance helped them towards the end here.

City won the league today, so I claim the honor of creating the next EPL thread. Never mind the fact that I haven't posted in two years. I'll wait until the fixtures are published on June 19.

Just stopping by to say State is NOTHING like United. Fans, success and history couldn't be more different. If anything Liverpool since 1990 is probably the closest of the big clubs to State IMO.

Nah. I know it's funny Gerrard slipped (and he said they weren't going to slip! So hilarious!) and everything but losing to Chelsea and drawing away to Palace are not the worst results in the world, especially on the back of an 11 game winning streak with a squad that essentially goes 14 deep. Only one team in history has ever won 14 games in a row and that was 13 in one, 1 in the next. Coupled with the fact Manchester City had a really good 2014 as well, it was always going to be tough. Hard to criticize them for "bottling it" when they shouldn't have been there to bottle it in the first place.

Like I said earlier, I expect it from people that don't like Liverpool because I'd be doing the same if it were another team, but any neutral can see what they did this season was pretty incredible.

It begins

@MirrorFootball: Liverpool news and transfer rumours: Karim Benzema set to be Real Madrid bait for Luis Suarez bid? http://t.co/G39eC0PR2d

I'd actually be quite surprised if Suarez was anywhere but Anfield next year.

Love the tabloid rumors. Seems at best they are maybe 5% accurate. Doesn't stop anyone from reading or putting stock into them though. The "silly season" of European football is always fun to follow.

maybe even if he comes to Chelsea, he'll pull a Torres

perhaps the Atletico Madrid -> Chelsea connection is tainted (even when it includes stops at other clubs)

that would be sweet if he comes and then suddenly inexplicably totally sucks dick

Post a synopsis of what you're looking for in your club for the summer and let's see how the chairmen did at the end of the window.

TOTTENHAM

NEEDS: LB, CB, ST, Manager

I don't think we're far off. Plenty of young talent inside the squad led by Eriksen to get into the top 4 conversation next season.

LB has been a problem for multiple seasons now, and Danny Rose can fuck right off. We really need a LB that can deliver a great cross as your wing players tend to tuck inside in the final 3rd. CB needs a huge upgrade too. Dawson sucks, Kaboul is always hurt, who knows what happens with Verts, and Chiriches is a gambler.

If we could get one young striking talent, like a Lukaku or Isigne, then our attack takes a huge bump up. Levy can't be afraid to spend 20M+ Euros at this spot.

As for manager, I'd love FdB or Poch, as I admire his pressing style, but I think I would be most happy with Rafa. He knows this league so well and how to win trophies. Brings instant credibility to the touchline. How long he will be here would be the only major drawback of that appointment.

Unrelated: Ledley got his own quote in the stands during his testimonial yesterday.

LONG LIVE THE KING!

Liverpool Needs: Defensive midfielder, CB, RB, LB, long-term replacement for Gerrard

Lallana looks likely. I'd spend big on a DM like Javi Martinez if they're available and save some cash somewhere else like picking up Ashley Cole for cheap. It all depends on who goes this summer - Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Lucas are all rumored to be leaving.

Either way, it's obvious they need to strengthen the defense and central midfield.

You sure that wasn't a Sol Campbell quote?

To be fair to me, I've invested a ton of time in Arsenal since the switch. Shit, I'm working an Arsenal game in to my honeymoon in December...

Don't expect a win, but definitely looking forward to the FA cup final on Saturday.

Lived in Hull for a year and a half, and went to quite a few games the year before they move up to the premier league. Even had a beer with Dean Windass one evening.

kiljadn, can we confirm that Man U finished seventh this year and will be stuck in England next season?

I move that NyM410 be relieved of his moderating duties for violating the rights of TWW users. City's championship entitles me to a 2014/15 EPL thread. Deal with it.

I like both Arsenal and City for their attacking style of play and creativity. However, the Nasri transfer saga last summer made it difficult to be a fan of both teams. Now I'm leaning toward Arsenal."
