lol at the Heels winning the Coastal

if UNC and Miami were both bowl eligible, Miami would've won the Coastal

officially, Georgia Tech won it

I'm not sure about that. I could be wrong but I believe the way a 3-way tiebreaker is broken is to look at the teams records against the 4th place team. If any of them lost that game then they are eliminated and it goes back to head to head tiebreakers. In this case, VT ended up as the 4th place team, GT lost to VT while UNC and Miami both won thereby eliminating GT. Then it goes back to head-to-head with UNC and Miami which UNC won. So UNC may have won the Coastal, not that it matters

I read this as Miami and UNC both beat the 4th place team VT, then it goes to the 5th place team, Duke, who beat UNC but lost to Miami

We are young and we are learning. We got embarrassed last night, but the season is NOT over.

Anyways, here it goes and I hope some of you laugh (and remember we are Carolina basketball) instead of insult such another stupid thread...

We are in motown
Ready for the throw down
It's already over(a) for Villanova
It's too late for Michigan State
We are the mighty heels
We are here to seal the deal
Oh, what a thrill it is
To bring the 'ship back to chapel-hill

This was "sung" (think of a little bit of a beat and don't read it like a poem) on our flight from CLT to RDU when a few dookies/state guys behind us started running their mouths about last nights game. They tried getting under our skin and we kept on carrying on.

Gio is the best player in the league IMO and deserved to win, but Boyd was close and played on a superior team and these awards only go to players on good teams. Hope both go pro. Gio would be an idiot to not declare and Boyd would be an idiot to declare.

If UNC loses Fedora, they should hire TOB as the ultimate troll move towards NC State. He would run a clean program, and as long as they put recruiters around him, he may do well.

He or his agent began to float his name in connection to a couple of searches and it’s believed he would seriously consider ditching Chapel Hill after one season. Tennessee is expected to interview one candidate today and both industry and sources in Knoxville tell us Fedora will be that interview."

Can he just say yes to the Tennessee job, but still not quit UNC until ^ deadline? Is it against his contract to start recruiting for Tennessee while still technically employed by UNC? If UNC doesn't like Fedora starting his Tennessee duties while still employed at UNC, then UNC can either (1) suck it, (2) fired him and pay Fedora the buyout $ they would owe him, or (3) suck it some more.

It would be great if Fedora left UNC. Keep their program in straight chaotic mode for another year. If he stays, UNC is going to become a pain in the ass program to play. High powered offense with likely very solid recruiting, probably a steady 8-9 win program in the expanded ACC assuming no one else leaves.

Why's everyone harping on the buyout? Doesn't sound like a huge number in the big scheme of things.

^ I wouldn't be so sure about that. Awful defense and went 8-4 in a historically weak ACC and they needed Gio to do that.

UNC could have won pretty much every game it lost too and nearly was a 10 win team. They blew the Wake game, nearly pulled huge comebacks on Duke and Louisville, and they had that shootout with GT that they lost due to a couple turnovers. Yeah they won some lucky ones too like against us, but UNC was a decent team overall thanks to Gio and that offense. If Gio was healthy all season, they would have been even better.

The amount of improvement Fedora showed with that offense in one year was remarkable. Yeah the defense sucked donkey balls but some of it was due to a young defense and the rest due to the number of possessions and time of possession due to his offensive pace.

The one thing I am hopeful for regarding Fedora is that he did relatively well only because he inherited Butch's illegally recruited high value players like Gio, Highsmith, Cooper, Hebron, etc. Hopefully he won't be able to bring that type of talent in routinely and UNC will maintain their mediocre status.

^ I'm still not that impressed. They played an incredibly weak schedule (no FSU, no Clemson, comically bad Coastal division) and only squeezed out 8 wins... and they needed an All American to pull that off. They ramped up the offense but the defense took just as big of a turn in the opposite direction, so that's a wash overall. I bet Withers would've managed the same record with this schedule.

Let's see how they manage next year with Gio out of the picture, and hopefully a decent schedule.

That bs that rflong posted is also true about TOB, except we played fsu, clem, and tenn.

Fedora could just as easily had 3 more losses. He won 50% of his close games.

I want Fedora to go not because he is a phenomenal coach but because they are unlikely to find someone better.
