I had thought about the food things, and they can live off very little. Besides, worst case scenario, we can eat the dog. 4/17/2005 5:26:35 PM |

that is very true. also, dogs could gnaw on zombie parts that we probably shouldn't be near, in case of some passable infection. (assuming this is a human only zombieism.) 4/17/2005 5:30:07 PM |

If the dogs aren't affected by the virus, they can eat the zombies
And I think a rural place like a farm would probably be a good place to board up too. There would probably be a lot of stored crops as well as farm animals to eat. The best part would be that it would be an extremely rural area, so the odds of zombies finding you would be slim. Even if some did find you, they won't be communicating to tell others where you were. The only downside, however, would be getting to one. The roads would most likely be blocked as stated earlier.

hey... i thought of something... do any of you people know how to fly a helicopter? because Sky 5 might be sitting right across the street from campus at the onset. We would probably have to take it by force, but it could be landed on the roof of UT, and would be perfect for gathering supplies and/or evactuation to an alternate location. 4/17/2005 5:35:02 PM |

the zombies we are talking about don't come from Haiti buddy
in fact, I prefer if there is no explanation at all - merely, the dead are alive and hungry 4/17/2005 6:37:23 PM |

^ I agree, but someone was talking about neurotransmitters on the first page.
If I could use a shotgun without falling over, that'd be my weapon of choice. Since I'm not, I do have a collection of tools in my dorm room. I'm familiar with many forms of home repair and construction, and I suggest that knowledge for everyone. You learn you really can't live without a hack saw and a u-knife. It's also a good idea to go down to Red Cross and get your first aid and CPR certifications. 4/17/2005 6:45:36 PM |

A shotgun is a solid choice, but they're liable to be scarce around campus, as are any firearms. Campus safety might have something, but I don't want to bank on it. 4/17/2005 7:28:39 PM |

^^I doubt it, especially if the zombies were a result of a random waking of the dead--but it could be possible. My zombie experience is too limited for me to make an educated guess.

Now what may be possible if you have enough time and a surviving scientist would be to develop some kind of spray that smells like a human. You could spray it on the zombies and they would eat each other. Lots of zombies rely heavily on sense of smell to distinguish between prey and fellow zombies.
Quote : | "you could drop stuff on them" |
You could do that from mostly any tall building. The problem would be that A) If there are a few zombies walking around, it would be very difficult to hit them or B) If there are a lot of them, throwing stuff at them from the top wouldn't really do anything significant.4/17/2005 8:56:38 PM |

A good place to stay would be a nice hotel with a restaurant. Comfort, and food to last awhile. A hospital might work, also...they generally have food around to feed patients...and a cafeteria....and a lot of the surgical tools and such could possibly be used to construct good weapons.
btw...I'm female and know how to drive some construction equipment... 4/17/2005 8:57:06 PM |

the hotel is a good idea... specifically, the tall round one downtown. A hospital has too many ways in to secure well.4/17/2005 9:05:02 PM |

hotels usually have too many windows to be quickly secured and hospitals have too many entrances, plus that would be one of the first sources for zombies from the morgue
