^^ Yes

Another interesting tidbit...and I'm not looking it back up so no link. Go to Ole Miss' Scout.com premium board... you can read the headlines of threads. Some guy is claiming "NC State out with Shaeffer... down to Wisconsin and Ole Miss"

On that same note, a mod on Statefans said he's heard nothing of the sort and said he's "95%" sure it's bullshit

so Brent is down to NC State and Ole Miss? by the way in the non-premium site for Ole Miss a guy says hes heard that Brents old coach is tellin him to go to NCSU, thats close to what it said anyways

Where are you getting Ole Miss and NC State from? Just wondering if you heard that crazy rumor too

My guess is he's still down to NC State and Florida.... didn't think OM or Wiscy were major factors...then again, what do I know? That's just a gut feeling.

I highly doubt that Ole Miss post had any credibility.

To tell the truth, at this point, I dont give a damn. I just wish he'd get it over with so I'd quit hearing about him. All I've heard for the past few years is "Shaeffer this Shaeffer that". Just get it over with, State or no State, and lets all get on with our lives

Just doesn't seem like a good idea for a kid with two years of playing time left...he wouldn't take over from Leak next year, and Meyer will force him to compete for #1 after that.

3* fullback Cedric Hickman from NC -- He is a pretty nasty blocker, and I like the prospect of having a true fullback in our backfield (6-3 230). After looking at his tape i think he could even put on more weight.

Well, he does have 3 years to play 2.

He could redshirt next season and still start 2 years if necessary

^But I thought he openly said he wanted to go somewhere he could start immediately? I think if he went to Florida they'd redshirt Tebow over him.

^ I think he does, but regardless, he could redshirt behind leak and still have 2 years of eligibilty to be the starter.

If they got both (Which I dont think they will), I'd imagine they'd redshirt both

^if florida gets BS, I will always wonder what the hell they are promising these kids....to get tebow they must have basically promised him the gig after Leak, leaving 0 playing time for BS?

I may have missed it if you guys talked about it before but Schaeffer doesn't even have Florida as one of his interested teams anymore....

Anyhow, I'm up in PA visiting family and ran into an old friend that helps coach football for a high school up here. He starts talking about how proud of Stone he was because he had coached him in high school(Harrisburg). So I ask him about McCoy. He said we have a damn good chance at him but he has been hearing that he will probably end up at Penn State. There is a highly recruited lineman coming out of this area (Lebanon) and it has been rumored they are going to Penn State as a package deal.

It was nice hearing NCSU getting props up here in PA.

thats really good news then that MEyer said that, so basically narrows Brents choices to NCSU and Wisc. or any other way off team that he might pull out of a bag...but this is great to hear, reallllllly want this kid here just because hes already proven and has proven talent to come along with him

A national championship.

With Florida, he would have a decent shot at a National Championship and a chance to be the starting QB.

Here, he has almost no shot at a National Championship, even if he is handed the starting QB position.

BS has a MUCH better chance at beating out Stone. If he goes to UF he'll be behind Leak for a season and Meyer is counting on Tebow to be the man for the next four years. If he comes here, he starts and gives us a playmaking QB. Remember, if you win the ACC you're in one of the Top BCS games with a shot at the title. The SEC is just as tough to win no matter who you are compared to the ACC.

I realize UF has a better shot at being in the national title game... BUT we're not *that* far behind.

Hell, if we have a QB this year and don't faircatch the ball against VT on the 1, our season would have been completely different. That game seemed to be the turning point of our season, in my opinion.

Is it a cakewalk for UF to get to the National Title? Not exactly.

Run with the Pack, Brent.

Did anyone see that documentary thing on Tebow last night on ESPN2. I think it came on about 10 pm. Pretty interesting - that kid is a stud though. Big size, strong arm, smart, no ego, etc. Perfect QB recruit for anyone.

Yeah, in the special he got a letter from marc trestman. He said that he was one of his favorite coaches that he talked to.

He also got a letter from unc, and mentioned he meant to write them a letter saying they weren't in it.

Someone mentioned seeing a quote from BS scroll across the bottom of Countdown to Signing Day saying he is down to us and UF and if he was to choose now it would be one of those two.

That combined with meyer's quote about only taking one qb makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

he is like a lot of the guys weve signed so far, they are people who are having huge senior seasons but maybe not rated very high before this year. He is also best friends with a bigger prospect Darin Baldwin who we want to, and they talked about being a package deal

I don't think you really understand how ratings work. A one star rating pretty much just means that no one on staff has gotten around to looking at film of the guy. Two stars usually just means "the kid signed with someone reputable and we haven't really looked at him but he must be worth something." There are so many players in Florida that there simlpy is not enough time to get around to them. Just look at Darrell Davis: Offers from Central Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, South Florida, and of course NCSU. I mean the kid is 6-5, 195, and runs a 4.58/40

explanation of stars and rr rankings by rivals.com (the more accurate of the 2 recruiting services):

Rivals.com Prospect Database
About Football Ratings

Rivals100.com has assembled the top team of recruiting analysts in the nation with both national and regional experts based all throughout the country. With those strengths, players at a number of different positions will be ranked once a month from June until February.

The rankings are compiled after countless hours of film evaluation, personal observations and input from professional, college and high school coaches.

In the finished product, players are ranked a number of different ways but the most important ways are numerically by position, qualitatively by stars and a new ranking system that grades players on the expected impact they will make in college.

Players are ranked numerically on a national level at their positions. The numerical ranking at each position varies depending on the depth of the talent at the position.

Players are also ranked on their quality with a star ranking. A five-star prospect is considered to be one of the nation?s top 25-30 players, four star is a top 150-200 player, three-stars is a top 550 level player, two stars means the player is a mid-major prospect and one star means the player is not ranked.

The new ranking system that is being introduced ranks prospects on a numerical scale from 6.1-4.9.

6.1 Franchise Player; considered one of the elite prospects in the country, generally among the nation's top 25 players overall; deemed to have excellent pro potential; high-major prospect

6.0-5.8 All-American Candidate; high-major prospect; considered one of the nation's top 200 prospects; deemed to have pro potential and ability to make an impact on college team

5.7-5.5 All-Region Selection; considered among the region's top prospects and among the top 500 or so prospects in the country; high-to-mid-major prospect; deemed to have pro potential and ability to make an impact on college team

5.4-5.0 Division I prospect; considered a mid-major prospect; deemed to have limited pro potential but definite Division I prospect; may be more of a role player

4.9 Sleeper; no Rivals.com expert knew much, if anything, about this player; a prospect that only a college coach really knew about

Brent Schaeffer update -

"I guess you could say that Brent has lost some interest in Kansas State," C.O.S. offensive coordinator Andy Siegal said. "It isn't because of Freeman coming, but I guess you could call it a mutual splitting of the ways. He isn't interested in them any longer and they aren't really interested in him."

With the Wildcats out of the running for the five-star rated prospect the list is still sitting at four schools for the Deerfield Beach, Fla., native.

"He called me this morning to tell me that there are four schools he is looking at," Siegal said. "He will go to one of these four; Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Ole Miss and N.C. State. I don't know what day he will visit Virginia Tech, but they are a new one for him. He has Ole Miss scheduled for this week and he has already been to N.C. State and Wisconsin.

"He had it down to Wisconsin. He was going there. Then K-State got back in the mix for him. Then he added the others back in. Ole Miss was out, I guess you could say, then they called and let him know that (Dan) Werner was going to be their new offensive coordinator. Werner and Art Kehoe are both coming to Ole Miss from Miami. He was pretty interested in them because of that, so they are still under consideration.

So this on top of losing 90% of our starting lineup might hurt a little

we better hope these redshirted freshman are nYce...i've heard good things....so they probably suck.

2* players from Florida are better than 4* players out of North Carolina 9 times out of 10.
