HE'S BACK!

Yes, I'm really glad. I was feeling bad for him for a while batting .068.

It was a first pitch swing that is so patently francoeur.

first inning was horrible. 5 runs on 6 hits. The next 4 1/3 innings he pitched a 4 hit, 1 run ball game. I'll take that. He calmed down a bit.

We went through this last year in the beginning. Our starting/relieving/closing pitching all sucked. Just the closing pitching sustained.

hell yeah braves... both the team and francoeur make comebacks tonight. down 7 - 3... that'd be a hell of a comeback.

gg laroche on that catch.

Francour is already up to a .200BA, he's gone 3-for-4 with 3 homers in the last two games. You kids talkin about sendin him to Richmond...this is a french slap in your face.

Vintage smoltz tonight. 9IP, 4H, 0R, complete game shutout.

We need more of that from the rest of the rotation. It's sad, that with only a 2 run lead in the 7th, 8th, and 9th, Cox was probably scared to turn it over to the bullpen so he made the old guy pitch the entire thing.

that's exactly what the staff needed though. I expect hudson to come through next with a great game and it'll catch on...this rotation has the makings of being very very strong, give it time it will work.

I could've hit that hanging changeup out of turner field...

come on bullpen...

Why did they take thompson out with him only pitching 74 pitches? I figured that even though he had a good day at the plate, that they could've put a DH in if they were going to take him out...

But I'm not bobby cox.

I think they were trying to save Thompsons elbow, he had some problems with his elbow in spring training.

Renteria is out for atleast the Mets series and probably the whole week if not more (read it on a AJC article this morning). Great fucking timing to have the whole left side of the infield injured

Maybe it is the Mess's year.

Well, betemit isn't exactly a slouch at 3B/SS... if starting pitching does alright, then we'll be fine. We'll split at best.

why do you think we brought in renteria

Yea, I'm thinkin without Chip and Renteria, not to mention running out Davies and Sosa, we're gonna have problems with this set. Not sure it'd be a fair comparison at this point.

he's decent. He's still young. Give him time. His offense is doing quite well.

Betemet is a good backup at SS. The only problem is that we have to play Orr at third
Orr was fine last year as a pinch hitter, multi-defensive option, but he is not a guy we need getting regular ABs in an important series. Oh well, here's hoping Sosa can find his magic and Andruw can do what he did last year and carry the offense.

yeah, saltamacchia is too valuable in AAA. I think he'll go. We sured up in the catcher position.

We just have to have some arms... both starting and relieving. We have the most runs scored in baseball so far... and we have a sub 500 record. That should be a telling stat about our pitching.
