I'm watching the Mets feed and he clearly tagged him on the butt. That was close so I'm not too pissed about it but the balk call was outright bullshit.. there was no doubt he came to a stop.. NONE.

Wow.. I have a hard time believing Duke would make that up..

The Braves getting calls? No way.

Ive watched Smoltz, Glavine, and Maddux get strikes called at least 6 inches off the plate forever now.

the mets have won 2 world titles since 1969
they have also lost 2 world series since 1973

this means a title every 18 years or so and a pennant every 9

the NEW YORK YANKEES on the other hand have 26 titles since 1923, which translates into a measly old WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP EVERY 3 YEARS.

why do the mets even bother, considering the yankees went from 1962-1977 and 1978-1996 without a championship.
why do the new york papers or the Lawn Guyland papers even cover them?

I don't know if this had been mentioned on here but apparently early last year the Mets reworked Glavine's contract to include a $10M option for 2007. Well they activated it and now he'll be here through next year. I see no reason to think he'll fade before then and he should win 300 here which will be cool..

Good move Omar..

^^^ wtf? That isn't even a troll worth a response..

Um, he has been the best starting pitcher in baseball so far this year. He has noticeably gotten better since he started going inside and throwing his curve more. There is no reason to believe he won't continue to perform like this. He has gone 6+ innings the last 20+ starts and his ERA is like 2.20 since the end of May last year..

Just read the NY papers to see why. Goto SNY.tv and click on the paper links at the bottom. Then I won't have to hold your hand to get you through baseball conversations (no homo)

glavine has at least one more year left in him

i was hoping he'd come to atlanta and win number 300 there

he had said the only two teams he would consider are the mets and braves

oh well

^ Even if Glavine wins #300 with the Mess, atleast we can take light in the fact that he'll wear a Braves cap in Cooperstown.

On another note, just to put the Mess's hot start into perspective. They have played only ONE series all year versus a team with a winning record (the Brewers). This is not to say that they are not a good team, but they are not 8 games better than the Braves in early May. Plus the Braves have played basically no home games yet.

i'm posting more in the mets thread than i am the braves thread

can you guys really justify giving up milledge to fill zambrano's spot

its not like zambrano was doing shit anyways

I don't even think that is being seriously considered. It's a blown up report from the baseball tonight crew. It was meant to be a hypothetical..

Lastings isn't going anywhere.

i haven't heard anything about zito, i have heard that beane wants to unload him by the all star break

dontrelle seems like a more likely possibility, but getting rid of milledge would be a bad idea

especially to a division foe

Yea.. that was what the BBTonight crew was suggesting. Omar won't do it though.. Zito is a FA this offseason and has already pretty much said he will play in NY for whoever outbids the other..

We have plenty of options and certaily don't need to replace Zambro with an ace..

Pelfrey, Soler, Maine, hell even Lima can be our 5 the rest of the year.. it's not like Zambrano was tearing shit up.

** Dontrelle is the ONLY player I'd be willing to part w/ Milledge for.

i haven't read anything saying glavine or the mets have activated the option for 07

just that both a player and team option have been added

oh mets, ya'll are so cute. Every year you think you have a shot at the NL east and every year, the braves pull out some magical 18 of 20 run that cements us as the premier team in the east.

But thank God for that wildcard rule! It sure would be ashame to give you guys no hope at a post season.

Good acquisitions in the off season though... it's just not enough... Maybe next year you can win the wildcard again.
