Look, no one's saying the 'out there' teams aren't worthy of the tournament, but letting them in and tossing other teams that more deserved it (deserved it by playing great all year as opposed to just playing well come tourney time) is wrong.3/26/2006 5:27:59 PM |

utah state and air force were the problems, and they proved themselves as such 3/26/2006 5:28:11 PM |

No he wasn't Packer's argument was based on what conference's had what teams, as well as the Air Force argument. The conference's shouldn't matter, it all about what those individual teams are doing that warrant's whether or not they should get in, Air Force was a questionable call but that was it. Packer whined about so many of the MVC teams and so little of the ACC teams and got PWNED. 3/26/2006 5:40:55 PM |

bigTHEW, singling out Packer is a mistake. There were a lot of whiners.

Wow, I had no idea George Mason was in the Missouri Valley Conference.
They may have won as a mid-major, but if anything this justifies the supposed "East-Coast bias" Western and Midwestern teams complain about. 3/26/2006 5:46:35 PM |
BridgetSPK #1 Sir Purr Fan 31378 Posts user info edit post |
^Going too far with it...this justifies nothing. Also, GMU is an East Coast team. Or am I wrong?

I never singled out Billy Packer, I was addressing phisnlou when he said Packer was 100% right. Nor did I alude that George Mason was in the MVC, I said above Packer also argued about what conferences got what teams in; particularly when he singled out the ACC vs. MVC
My counter point to that was:

There's nothing redeeming about those 4 (except maybe Villanova). LSU and Florida are schools whose alumni would rather win their division in the SEC in football than the national championship in basketball, and UCLA has won, what, fifteen national championships already?3/26/2006 6:00:33 PM |
