They had a kick ass mother fucking point guard. Jarret Jack was the shit.

I don't really disagree with that statement. We might have about 3rd or 4th place talent...but I don't know if we'll finish that high. UNC, Duke, GTech, BC, Maryland, and FSU could all have better seasons then us.

It all depends on the coach we get. If we get Gillispie, then I'll be highly optimistic about next year. But you can't deny that we could make a bad hire and end up having a really shitty couple of years.

Yeah if we make a bad hire that sucks. That's life.

It's not like we fired Herb and then couldnt replace him.

Its not like we can go into the season without a coach.

Its not like we have been turned down by anyone who was anywhere near Herb's level.

You act like we can't land a coach that is every bit as good as Herb but in reality there's a list of 20 names of people who would take this job in a heartbeat.

It's good that we are being selective and trying to find the right guy instead of the first guy we think will sign the dotted line.

This isn't a club and its not 1:45 AM. You don't have to grab the first girl you think will get naked.

This is more like a wedding reception and there's 8 bridesmaids available. You got turned down by the cousin from Austin and the whore from Memphis, but there's still plenty of snatch available.

It's good that we got rid of Herb while the cupboard was full so right off the bat we should know if this next guy can coach or not.

I agree with rally on this one

There are tons of coachs capable of using ncsu's facility and players to make it and win a first round NCAA game.

Why fells played -4 minutes a game is still beyond me

Ced's hook was very solid, with either hand, and when you have a 7'4" wingspan, the hook will almost never get blocked (at the college level)

I think the point of getting rid of Herb is that we want more than this????

I think Barnes, Calipari, Wright, etc. could take us to that higher level easily. After that, it's all a guess. I have good faith that Gillispie can do it...but other than, I'm not 100% sure that there are that many other coaches out there than can take us to that level. But that's why our opinions differ.

Brackman may not want to fuck up his last season of college baseball with basketball. It is a valid concern

And Cedric Simmons is possibly the best all around big man we've had in 15 years, and now he's gone.

We're going to suck next year without him. I was expecting this team to build around him, and we would have a damn good shot at being nasty, but now its over probably.

On a side note...I work in Phoenix and went to the Suns/Mavs game last night. I didnt realize Josh Powell was getting as many minutes as he is. And on an even more side note, Gary Coleman was also at the game and was on the court promoting some new movie.

Cedric still has a little more upside. His wingspan is ridiculous and he has superior athletic ability (although Powell is pretty athletic).

Ced leaving has nothing to do with Herb. Ced leaving has to do with pops being sick and the family being poor.

His soph year was my freshman year. He was unstoppable in the ACC tourney. I remember saying to myself "man, we are gonna be incredible next year"

And we would have been. We ended up 2nd in the ACC and a 3 seed without him. If he would have stayed we would have been title contenders.

I think thats what everyone is thinking about Ced, except we wont be second in the ACC if he leaves. If Ced stays, the only experienced big man he's going to have to play against is Hansbrough.

He can and WILL tear through the ACC next year if he stays, I dont know why he would risk not going in the first round when he could potentially be a top 5 pick next year.

I know the kids from High school will be coming out like Oden, but I have a feeling that some of these kids are going to be exposed by the higher competition in the college game and the experienced kids are going to have the upper hand in the draft.

Maybe he is like us and is nervous that a chode like Brady may possibly get the job?

if there is almost a sure promise of someone making it into the NBA, is it legal for a bank to say, loan him $100,000 at 0% for the first couple of years, then jack the interest up to like 30-40% when the guy can afford to pay it?

Car dealerships do it all the time. That's why you always see a lot of college athletes driving ridiculous vehicles.

I don't know about banks...although I think they did it with Lebron James.

I really wish Ced would play one more year, even if only for his own sake. We're gonna be pretty good if he stays, but I think we were still a point guard away from being nasty...say 07-08 season if chris wright woud still come. That would be one hella experienced team after only losing Atsur and probably brackman, plus give Fells another year, McCauley, Costner, plus Grant as a senior with Ced, and whoever else decides to show up for us. I was looking forward to that season, and thats one reason I didnt want Herb go. I personally think we'd have a better shot of keeping Ced without Herb, but only if we could get a big name. The thing with wright is a mess though. I dont think anyone on our list is going to get him back, except MAYBE Haith or an NBA guy that i'm not thinking about right now.

Oh the original point of that rant was that Ced will probably leave after next season anyway, so he'll only help us a little by not going this year. I really hope he stays one more season though.

simmons doesnt even know how to play as a true big-man... he needs at least another year in college b-ball w/ a coach who plays him in the paint, not at the 3-point line

^^^ if you actually watched state basketball you would realize that cedric simmons was never on the three point line. look up his stats. he's actually 100% on the 3-point line because he's only shot past the arc twice.

Again, look it up.

Don't make stupid statements.

Actually Cedric was at the three point line OFTEN.

They pop him out to catch the ball and hand it off or set picks.

Try watching the games instead of relying on meaningless stats.

Dont be stupid.
