Just bought the game a few days ago, and for some reason when I am playing the campaign, I cant fight any battles on the map. When I try to go into battle, my monitor just shuts down and Im forced to restart my comp. Ive tried the game on all the different video settings but nothing has worked. Anyone have any ideas. Also my comp more than meets the requirements for the game. 1/20/2007 11:18:19 AM |

Any other tips in battling the Mongols besides the stakes (I just don't have enough longbowmen right now to make it effective... )?
I'm playing the English, and I took Antioch during the Crusades. However, the Mongols have decided to try and make it their new capital, and I've got about seven stacks worth of Mongols surrounding me. I slaughtered their Khan and one of their top generals in a Heroic Victory (had about six archer militia and a longbow unit tear their units up as they approached and about three or four crusader sergeants that destroyed their cavalry as they tried to storm the gates. Unfortunately, three of those four crusader sergeant units are now down to about 10 soldiers each, and they've got five stacks left at my gates.
Should I just write off the city at this point? I don't think I'd survive a field battle with them. I've got troops in Acre, but there's no way I can get troops into Antioch at this point. Also, I've got about three crusader armies heading toward the middle east to take Gaza (I declared it so I could get some cheap troops to ship East, and I intend to divert two up to whatever city the Mongols decide to pick on next).

^what he said
if you got plenty of archer, just sit back and wait for them to attack hire some pikeman mercenaries to plug up all the holes around the city 2/15/2007 3:07:52 PM |

Didn't do me much good... they just used their trebuchet to punch about five or six holes in my wall and then just poured right in. I did what I could, but when they had four complete stacks worth of units pouring through my walls (I think a good eighty or so units), there's only so much one can do with twenty badly beaten up units.2/16/2007 3:21:55 PM |

true.... they are even more of a handful in the open field.... so damn mobile.... on a plain they will just bushwack you.... now that I'm playing the germans (won as england) I'm slowly getting used to using pike hard core.... you do need the pike fix to make them good against calvary though.... and pike and shot (pikemen and musketmen) were the armies of the "next" era.... so pikes being able to devastate everything else actually is pretty true.... 2/16/2007 11:13:14 PM |
