Trestman couldn't even make Marcus Stone a serviceable college QB, not sure how he's going to make Cutler better. Maybe his time in the CFL has improved his coaching though.

Yea, NFL head coaches are much more like CEOs of their teams than actual coaches. They're managing people and overarching direction. I'm not sure he can have the type of influence Cutler needs though, but that's mostly Cutler's fault. Cutler's stubborn and averse to changing his ways. That's tough to break through at this point in his career.
