It looks Scott Speed is looking for a seat at NASCAR or Champ Car.
He was acting like he was not interested in F1.
HE IS LYING!!!

Andretti lasted about the same time as Speed in F1, then did OK in Champcar and now owns the best team in the IRL

so its possible to get back on the right foot

but he's not named Andretti either, but with a name like SPEED you know the US marketing people can come up with something

Of course Andretti got back in the US right before the big split and drove for Newman Haas, the best team in Indy/CART/Champcar..............

I think SPEED will be a roadcourse guy in NASCAR and run ALMS I hope and then go to LeMans next year

looking over some f1 facts, 2004 cars were faster than anything today at tracks that have been raced in 2004-now. V10 and tire wars. Damn, think if the FIA let manufacturers do whatever they wanted to build a car

The Ferrari F2004 with Schumacher/ Barichello holds roughly 70% of fastest lap times for all current F1 tracks

FIA is more restrictive than even Nascar, at least with WRC specs

Group B rally cars in the 70s and 80s were pushing 800hp to the rear wheels - that ended up getting a little out of hand

wow just came across this site http://www.f1technical.net/

lots of technical stuff

found this quote for Monza

Quote :
"“Monza is the last real high-speed track in Formula 1. The wings are set flatter than on any other circuit. That means the car is very difficult to control when you are cornering or braking before a corner. Driving flat out 70% of the time doesn’t only push the engines to the limit: it’s a really hot race – in the truest sense of the word – for the brakes too. But because Formula 1 uses only state-of-the-art materials, the safety of the drivers and the spectators is guaranteed in spite of these extreme material loads.”
"

Yeah BOYEEE

I read some article saying that Scott Speed probably won't be able to race in NASCAR next year because he doesn't have any experience racing on the oval track.
It looks Jack Villeneuve will start racing in NASCAR soon though.

Montoya did have experience in CART, but a racer should be able to adapt. Start him in ARCA, Busch, then Cup (A-B-C)

Or put him in CHAMPCAR WHERE THEY HAVE A REDBULL CAR RIGHT NOW

Also a minor note, I am a huge r/c car nerd, and I'm getting an F1 Tamiya car, which I will modify the body to be a current spec looking McLaren Mercedes as soon as the decals are released. I will have pics. This is assuming I win this particular ebay auction. I used to work for a few hobby shops while in college, so I do R/C and model cars.

He's been rumored to be the replacement for Bourdais for Newman's team. This was before all the NASCAR talk though. I hope he goes that route. I think there are only two Americans in Champ car this year.

i think only 1 american in champ car this year, i'll have to double check but I think Rahal is the only one.

That would awesome, ironically it would be switching seats STR to NHL and vice versa

I guess Narain Karthikeyan will get one of the two driver's seats at Spyker, and India GP might happen in next few years (if they can build a good F1 circuit in India).

I am wondering what the team name will be.

I mean Ferrari is like the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, LA Lakers, and Carolina Tarheels- they are the default team people root for, really for no reason. McLaren has has trouble the past few years, but I still have Raikkonen apparel, hell I even have McLaren Mercedes slot cars, diecasts, jackets, etc from the past 5 years. Even in their downtime I followed them. Hakkinen owning Schumacher videos are my favorite things to watch.

Sorry don't know about Futbol teams. Ferrari at least is looking like they have trouble, more so I think because of Ross Brawn leaving NOT Schumacher. Car related trouble not driver issues. BUT Schumacher seemed more like a grown man than a young man, and Kimi is known for partying and Massa for being a little too emotional perhaps? Granted Schumacher was an asshole on track, but off track stuff was never an issue for him and surely keeping cool under pressure during a race were no problems. Absolutely the best without question with getting the most out of his car, in laps when others were pitting he tore it up, which his how we won so much.

BUT this year its the car that has let them down. Thats actually worse than the drivers screwing up I think because if the car breaks down you are screwed; Ross Brawn believed in reliability more than utmost top end speed. McLaren's problems with reliability issues the last couple of seasons came because Ferrari were so quick, McLaren had to gamble with reliability to try to get any kind of car that could challenge Ferrari. In 2003 for example McLaren were the absolute SHIT in high end speed and handling, BUT the Mereces engine was a PIECE OF SHIT and thats what screwed them in the title run.

However keep in mind McLaren also had wings falling off of the car and stuff like that on the hiiiiiiiiigh speed tracks. Suspension broke too. Just getting that last little bit of speed in F1 can cost dearly.

Well thats all. Looks like Kimi just doesn't have any luck with any team. Ferrari needs Ross Brawn back more than anybody.

also one more thing- Alonso will beat out Hamilton. Spa is a man's track, you have to be the best of the best to do well there; Hamilton should not end up in front of Alonso there. I like Hamilton more, but I think both of them are starting to be jerks about stuff. Got to pull for the team though until BMW gets ready to win. Ferrari, well I just can't root for them. Even if every NCSU football player got drafted and started for the Cowboys and they were in the SuperBowl, I couldn't cheer for them- they are the Cowboys for crying out loud!

[Edited on September 10, 2007 at 8:45 AM. Reason : champion will be Alonso then he'll move to Toyota for $Spain]

was there any information as to whether Massa's pulling out and Kimi's accident were related, technically speaking? I don't know if anyone saw the footage of Kimi's accident, but i don't know why he would so quickly pass it off to driver error...it sure didn't look like it to me. perhaps he was just trying to distract from a mechanical issue? what was the deal with massa's car after all?

^^ A new statement from Kimi confirms that it was not a driver error..

"I still don't know what exactly happened. I arrived at the Ascari and I braked, when I was just below 300 km/h: the wheels blocked right on a kerb and the back of he car suddenly lost all its downforce, so that the car had a very hard swerve and I ended up against the wall to my right."

The verdict is out... McLarens have been excluded from 2007 and 2008!

Some of the F1 sites are down right now, so here is the screenshot from autosport.com

^wrong

that was speculation from Spa and is NOT the verdict. That short piece was posted on autosport over 2 hrs ago, when they were still meeting in Paris. Autosport has since removed the article.

I received Japan GP ticket today. My seat is A2 L12-02-111 and 112.
Seat Allocation:
http://www.fujispeedway.jp/area/pdf/A2.pdf

View from A2 seat:

Fence in front of A2 might be disturbing for me and my friend.... row 2 might be way too front to see the race well because of the fence...

But I will still have blast at Japan GP! 2 more weeks !
