East Lincoln 54 Monroe 20
The Mustangs simply dominated. Monroe didn't have a crowd at all (we're an hour from Monroe, and had more people show up). Up next, West Davidson.
Other scores over here:
Maiden 20 Owen 13
North Lincoln 38 Bandys 34 Bandys led 28-24. North scored with about a minute left (31-28). Bandys gets the ball, and scores with 20 seconds left (34-31). They kick the kickoff short, but one of North's players gets it, and runs it back (38-34).
Lincolnton 49 Mitchell Co. 21
Shelby 54 Stokes 2
South Stanly 13 Elkin 2
NW Cabarrus 51 Burns 20
North Gaston 55 Concord 14
Charlotte Catholic 28 East Rowan 9
Hickory 63 Hunter Huss 0 Hickory Vs. Charlotte Catholic next week.
With Butler winning tonight, the big game next week will be the Butler Vs. Independence rematch. I wonder if they'll play it at Butler, or back in Memorial Stadium again. 11/10/2007 1:28:56 AM |

^ The Charlotte-Mecklenburg system will almost certainly require Butler to move the game to Memorial Stadium, as they did to Indy last week, when the Indy-Butler game was supposed to be in Mint Hill.
There are some great match-ups next week...
4AA East second round #7 Leesville Road (11-1) at #2 Wake Forest-Rolesville (12-0) -- a rematch of the Cap-7 title game #6 Fay. Jack Britt (10-2) at #3 Hope Mills South View (12-0) -- Cumberland County's two best teams #9 Millbrook (9-3) at #1 Garner (12-0) -- these two played in a season-opening game #5 Athens Drive (11-1) at #4 New Bern (10-2) -- the over/under should be about 90 points
4AA West second round #10 Independence (10-2) at #2 Butler (10-2) -- They'll pack in nearly 20,000 for this one #11 Scotland (10-2) at #3 East Burke (11-1) -- Two tough teams, perhaps both overlooked #8 G'boro Grimsley (11-1) at #1 West Charlotte (11-1) -- WC will show that Charlotte still rules in HS FB #12 East Meck (9-3) at #4 Richmond Co. (11-1) -- Richmond got killed at home by a second-tier Char. team last year
4A East second round #7 Fuquay-Varina (11-1) at #2 So. Durham (8-4) -- Southern's athleticism scares me #14 Chapel Hill (6-6) at #11 Smithfield-Selma (7-5) -- Two potential Cinderella teams meet #8 Fay. Pine Forest (6-6) at #1 Wilm. Hoggard (11-0) -- I hope PF enjoyed winning their first game #5 G'ville Rose (8-4) at #4 Durham Hillside (10-2) -- I think the Rampants' reign ends here
4A West second round #10 Boiling Springs Crest (8-4) at #2 W-S Mt. Tabor (9-3) -- Crest is a sleeper to win this bracket #11 Char. Ardrey-Kell (8-4) at #3 Gastonia Ashbrook (7-5) -- Ashbrook played a brutal schedule #8 Cent. Cabarrus (5-7) at #1 Watauga Co. (9-3) -- CC won their first game by forfeit; they won't win in Boone #5 Asheville AC Reynolds (8-3) at #4 Pembroke Purnell Swett (9-3) -- This has to be a 5-6 hour trip, one way, but the Rockets will bring a bunch of people with them. Since when is Robeson County in the west? 11/10/2007 10:52:01 AM |

western alamance will finally win states this year after losing the championship game what feels like 20 years in a row 11/14/2007 11:13:17 AM |

Western Alamance will win the States this year if the offense shows up. Which they have not the last 2 games. They scored the first TD with less than 2 minutes in the game against Dudley and couldn't put but 21 points on the 16th seed in the first round playoff game. The defense put up the other 21. The offense is the best I have ever seen but teams are starting to figure that offense out. Dudley watched film on West Virgina to prepare for our offense and they held us scoreless in the first 45 minutes of the game.
Rocky Mount is no joke this year. I work up in the press box for Western Alamance at home games and the big talk all year has been Rocky Mount.

we played rocky mount in like week five, even though we (hertford) were too young to compete against them, they did have some flaws, at least defensively.
We ran a long of wishbone type stuff and if we had a couple more catches, score would have been like 60-42 11/14/2007 3:09:56 PM |

I'm going to watch Fuquay-Varina at Southern Durham. This is an interesting match-up of Fuquay's power football and stingy run defense against Southern's great athletes on both sides of the ball.
It should be great football weather...upper 30's and light winds at game time.

East Lincoln 39 West Davidson 16
East was down 7-0, then outscored WD 39-2, before the Dragons scored a late TD. The Mustangs are playing their best ball all season. Up next, a rematch of the opening game of the season, at Newton-Conover.
Other scores:
Lincolnton 35 Brevard 3
North Lincoln 21 Salisbury 14
Newton-Conover 28 Maiden 21
Charlotte Catholic 19 Kannapolis AL Brown 14
Mt. Pleasant 42 Hibriten 20
As mentioned above: Jordan-Matthews 34 Thomasville 21
North Gaston 35 West Rowan 22
Hickory 30 Glenn 15
Now, Independence may have an issue. One of their corners sat tonight due to questions about his eligibility. It's being looked into right now. South Meck had to forfeit last week b/c of an ineligible player. Indy could be next. 11/17/2007 1:07:32 AM |

Tonight's Third-round Games
4AA EAST (the last two wake teams left are both underdogs) (7) Leesville Road at (3) Hope Mills South View (9) Millbrook at (4) New Bern

East Lincoln 23 Newton Conover 17 F/OT
This may have been the best high school game I've ever been to. East was up 17-7, then Newton came back to tie it up. In OT, Newton missed a field goal, and East scored a TD on their 1st play. Not bad for a 10 seed. Up next, we have the rivals, Lincolnton for a trip to the state championship.
A few scores:
