i've heard very few people dislike vampire weekend. am i the only one that really dislikes that album? maybe i just hate happy sounding music too much to get into that sound. but even listening to it objectively i don't see how that album can get more than a 6/10. 2/4/2008 12:45:59 PM |

I like most of the Vampire Weekend album. I love tracks 1 thru 5 and tracks 9 thru 11.
My favorite songs on the record are "Oxford Comma" (#2), "M79" (#5), "I Stand Corrected" (#9), and "The Kids Don't Stand a Chance" (#11). 2/4/2008 1:19:36 PM |

i get the hype. there isn't a bad track on the album and a hand full of awesome ones. its an album full of catchy songs that are fun/easy to sing along to. and the slight african influences give the impression that the music is fresh/different/whatever. 2/4/2008 1:23:05 PM |

ive heard about 4 songs. its ok. its not anything id listen to on any sort of regular basis. its pretty shallow musically. 2/4/2008 1:31:48 PM |

While I initially didn't really like it tremendously, I was drawn to play it twice today. It's really catchy. 2/4/2008 2:14:12 PM |

well i think there is a difference between simple and shallow.
i dont mind something being simple a la weezer, iron and wine, dismemberment plan, the shins, nirvana, minor threat, the strokes...all bands i like and all musically simple bands.
but there is something annoying about some of the bands that, at least to me, seem like they are just trying their hardest to write something overly simple instead of trying to write a decent song, that might be simple.
if your songs are simple, they have to be rock solid start to finish and full of some good melody (think weezer blue album) and you can get away with it all day long. If your songs are half arse and simple it holds no musical enjoyability for me. there is a fine line. 2/4/2008 2:14:37 PM |

I really liked the vampire weekend album when I first heard it a few months ago, and I still think it's quite good, but I don't think I'm ready for dick sucking that is still to come. Hell it's already in full effect and the album just fucking came out. 2/7/2008 2:32:23 PM |

I haven't been able to get into Los Campesino's yet. I love I'm From Barcelona, but don't really see the comparison.
The male lead vocalist on Los Campesino's annoys the shit out of me. Honestly though, I only listened to it once and just moved on to something else. I'll give it another spin, though.2/7/2008 5:47:51 PM |

I think this may be a different recording of that show, although the quality isn't great on either one.
Sebastian Boschert recorded the Zurich show, which had the same setlist, and it will probably be up on archive.org soon. His recordings are almost always really awesome. 2/7/2008 9:49:59 PM |
