I can remember a time in high school when I actually watched Good Morning America because...gasp...it delivered a broad range of actual news content.
I tuned in once a few months ago and was highly disappointed it had fallen in with the likes of The Today Show and similar morning news sitcoms on other channels in being completely devoid of anything the public really needed to know about and full of celebrity gossip and other bullshit like that.
The Today Show is not a serious news outlet and only a clown such as yourself would continue this argument. 6/11/2009 11:24:39 PM |

So, you admit that it's a "news outlet," just not a "serious" one? Well, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it.
BUT (1) The Today Show sees itself as a news (and entertainment) program, (2) NBC positions Today in its news division, and (3) many people going to work every day get their morning news from programs such as Today. I don't watch and I disagree with their political slant, but Today is a news program.6/11/2009 11:39:06 PM |

So I just checked out Today
In 1 minute, they squeezed in blurbs about Iran elections, the American girl on murder trial in Italy, new tobacco regulation, the holocaust shooter, the DTV switchover, and Bush 1 doing a parachutte jump for his bday...and now they have gone to the weather and have already spent double the amount of time on fat ass Al Roker stuffing his face in Cleavland at some bbq joint.
There is nothing at all serious about Today as a source of news. Pushing the "guide" button on my DVR mentions The Black Eye Peas and bras as the content today, not "the days national and international news stories".
Do you want to continue looking like an old out of touch fuck or just admit you've been owned?
And now they have S Palin on where they spent 1 minute talking about Alaska pipeline initiatives and going on 5 minutes talking about the Letterman knocked up spat. The sad thing is, I think Matt Lauer (sp?) is asking tough questions on this topic, it's just a shame its on a complete waste of a subject.

Oh and I brought up the Letterman thing as a plus for the media coverage in general. Most media sources where critical of the comments, which surprised me. Although others did try to defend it. However, its pretty clear that palin WONT let it go and is just trying to keep drumming it up for political gain...which will backfire. Most everyone was in your corner when it started... but now, I think, most are saying you should let it go already.

yeah, pretty much. Here is an uber-liberal feminist trying to back Palin, but unable to because she just goes too far http://www.salon.com/mwt/broadsheet/feature/2009/06/12/palin_vs_letterman
Quote : | "Therein lies the problem with trying to defend Sarah Palin from a feminist perspective. She and her daughters do not deserve sexist attacks any more than Hillary Clinton, Gloria Steinem or your mom do, and she's absolutely right that what Letterman said was out of line and indefensible. She's absolutely right that jokes like that contribute to an oppressive culture for women and young girls. But on this rare occasion when she's absolutely right about a couple of things, she can't just stop there. She has to blow straight past reasonable outrage and into disingenuous, over-the-top accusations.
Earlier this week, a Palin spokesperson said in a statement, "It would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman." When Lauer asked her about that, she said, "Hey, take it however you want to take it." OK, here's how I take it: You're implying that Letterman's a pedophile. Nice. See also: calling the jokes "sexually perverted," which they weren't, instead of "sexist and tasteless," which they were. So now here I am, inspired to defend Letterman from spurious attacks on his character, when I should be reinforcing the accurate attacks on his character in response to his spurious and sexist attacks on yours and your oldest daughter's. Why do you torment me so, Sarah Palin? Letterman said unequivocally offensive things, and he deserves to be condemned for them. But now, so have you, which complicates the matter of defending you as a fellow woman. Don't get me wrong; I will always denounce anyone who calls you a slut, or any other misogynistic slur. You don't deserve it, and that crap hurts all women. But if someone wants to call you a liar and a loon? You're on your own, lady. " |

^ Dude, what happened to Palin and her family was wrong. And I would say the same thing about any progressive woman and her family.
And I don't know about anybody else, but I'm not cheerleading for Palin--she had her shot in 2008 and it didn't happen. I absolutely do not believe that she will be the Republican nominee in 2012 (looks like Romney, but he has his own unique set of challenges).
In any event, Palin's future candidacy isn't the issue. It's about the liberal media's incessant need to destroy this woman at all costs--including attacking her family.

Quote : | "ABC TURNS PROGRAMMING OVER TO OBAMA; NEWS TO BE ANCHORED FROM INSIDE WHITE HOUSE Tue Jun 16 2009 08:45:10 ET
On the night of June 24, the media and government become one, when ABC turns its programming over to President Obama and White House officials to push government run health care -- a move that has ignited an ethical firestorm!
Highlights on the agenda:
ABCNEWS anchor Charlie Gibson will deliver WORLD NEWS from the Blue Room of the White House.
The network plans a primetime special -- 'Prescription for America' -- originating from the East Room, exclude opposing voices on the debate.
MORE
Late Monday night, Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Ken McKay fired off a complaint to the head of ABCNEWS:
Dear Mr. Westin:
As the national debate on health care reform intensifies, I am deeply concerned and disappointed with ABC's astonishing decision to exclude opposing voices on this critical issue on June 24, 2009. Next Wednesday, ABC News will air a primetime health care reform “town hall” at the White House with President Barack Obama. In addition, according to an ABC News report, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, WORLD NEWS, NIGHTLINE and ABC’s web news “will all feature special programming on the president’s health care agenda.” This does not include the promotion, over the next 9 days, the president’s health care agenda will receive on ABC News programming.
Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party's views to those of the President's to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected. I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party's opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers.
In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this primetime infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime. The President has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this primetime event, or the DNC should pay for your airtime.
Respectfully, Ken McKay Republican National Committee Chief of Staff

June 18, 2009 New York Times changes headline on their own poll
Quote : | "It is not unusual for a newspaper to change a headline on a story from edition to edition. This is true especially if the story has been updated or changed to reflect additional information.
But this New York Times story on the poll they took regarding Obama's handling of the economy is remarkable for the change in headlines from just a few hours ago to now.
When I saw the story this morning on Memeorandum, the headline of a story about a New York Times poll read:
'In Poll, Obama seen as ineffective on the economy.'
What does the headline read now?
'Obama poll sees doubt on budget and health care'
The adjective 'ineffective' has been dropped as has the broader measurement 'economy' in favor of the softer words 'doubt' and 'budget and health care' respectively. The night headline editor probably caught hell for that first hed.
A not very subtle example of bias from the Times." |
