when Abbott gets healthy, the starting lineup will be 3 juniors and 2 seniors
definitely the most experienced first-five in the PAC10

Season starts for real tonight. 4 games on local TV tonight.
FIU vs UNC -- fuck you Isiah. I hope you burn in hell for ruining my team. That is all. Alcorn St. vs Ohio State -- who cares. It's a Big 10 game. Albany vs Syracuse -- Jimmy B goes for #800. Or loses to another shit in-state NY team. Murray St. vs California -- Pac-10 favorites open up against some school called the Racers.
Also, Harrison Barnes is announcing Friday where he'll be going. Hopefully he throws on a Dook hat. 11/9/2009 4:51:14 PM |

Go FIU.
And I, too, hope Barnes chooses Duke, but probably for different reasons. I will lol if he goes somewhere random like Oklahoma or Iowa State though. As long as it's not UNC. 11/9/2009 5:01:14 PM |

Probably... but UNC will be astronomically better in Feb/March than they are right now. UNC has no outside game at alll... but damn Henson, Davis, Zeller and Thompson are NASTY inside...

2009-2010 Tarheels = 2008-2009 Deacons
Although UNC has better coaching and Wake had a better backcourt scorer. Still very early (obviously), but UNC is at this point a long, athletic, deep and talented team that can be sloppy at times and has no established outside shooting threat...Ginyard doesn't give them enough of this. 11/10/2009 9:50:18 AM |

hard to imagine unc going from 3 great shooters to none. I expect roy will teach a few guys how to shoot before you know it. Think about it, green nor lawson could shoot at all when they arrived, then all of a sudden theyre shooting like 50% duke style 3s. 11/11/2009 9:33:47 PM |

I'm sick tonight so I'm just sort of lounging on the coach watching some college bball...
Kentucky looks like a street ball team. My God, they have no semblance of an offense other than pray Patterson catches the no look bullets and cleans up the shitty missed prayers they throw up. I guess they are really missing John Wall. Bledsoe is super quick but makes tons of bad decisions. And DeMarcus Cousins looks like feces. Stupid decisions, stupid fouls and no body control. I'm sure they'll be good by year end though.
Duke starts 4 crackers? Seriously?

wall won't solve kentucky's shooting woes. all you have to do is pack the zone and you will beat kentucky 35% of the time. Thats enough to say they won't win it all (and I was the main one on their wagon)
I bet they lose to Kansas in the championship just like a few years ago. 11/13/2009 7:36:44 PM |

What arenas do you guys want to eventually see a game at? For me it'd be these:
Cameron Indoor Stadium - Duke (mainly to see what it could be like if we still played in Reynolds) Gampel Pavilion - UCONN Rupp Arena - UK Allen Fieldhouse - KU Pauley Pavilion - UCLA (it's supposedly not that loud, but it's got a lot of history) The Palestra - UPenn The Pavilion - Villanova Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse, now known as Hagan Arena - St. Joe's Fifth Third Arena - Cincinnati Carrier Dome - SU Breslin Center - MSU Crisler Arena - UM University Arena aka The Pit - UNM (gotta see the place where the 83 championship was won) Freedom Hall - UL The RAC - RU MSG - Big East Tournament Greensboro Coliseum - ACC Tournament Petersen Events Center - Pitt Assembly Hall - IU Assembly Hall - UofI Haas Pavilion - Cal McKale Center - Arizona McArthur Court - UO Maples Pavilion - Stanford Hec Edmundson Pavilion - UW Williams Arena - Minnesota Bud Walton Arena - Arkansas Mackey Arena - Purdue Hilton Coliseum - ISU Memorial Coliseum - Vandy (mainly b/c it's just so odd) Rose Hill Gymnasium - Fordham UD Arena - Dayton (for the play-in game) 11/15/2009 2:26:30 PM |

I've pointed out a number of times on here the stupidity of the designers of the Petersen Events Center putting in the courtside suites, especially behind the benches which is where the student section should be located, but the atmosphere at a lot of Pitt games is outstanding b/c of the Oakland Zoo. It's sad that it could be a lot better. For one the building has a big ceiling and only seats 12,508. No matter how creative the Oakland Zoo is, they won't ever be one of the loudest buildings in college ball b/c of the design. Same goes for Mizzou's Mizzou Arena. It's very similar in its basic design to Maryland's Comcast Center, yet Mizzou Arena has a capacity of only 15,061, while the Comcast Center seats 17,950. Also the ceiling in Mizzou Arena is ridiculously high.

Cal's arena has a ridiculously high roof and is a huge building for it's capacity. I went to the Arizona State - Cal game last year (it was total coincidence since my parents bought tix and I went with them) and the Oregon-Cal game a few years before -- when they had Chris Rock playing -- and it gets very loud.

I watched the final 10 or so minutes. Miami (OH) was on their game and were at one point up by 18 points. Kentucky missed a lot of free throws (what else is new with a Calipari coached team) even though they still made more than Miami, which isn't too surprising since UK got a good many more FTs. I mean I'm not saying the refs sucked, just that's probably what was going to happen when you play at UK with the crowd and their frontcourt players. Miami guy hit a ridiculous 3 with 5 secs left to tie up the game, but then they gave it to Wall and he drove down and hit a pull up ~15 foot jumper with 0.5 secs left to go up 72-70. All Miami could do was heave it from around half court.
UVA is losing to perennial Big East bottom feeders USF 56-43 with around 7 mins to go, and it's not like USF has a crazy crowd at the game affecting the UVA players. The building is pretty empty. Are we really going to be worse than UVA? I personally don't think we will.
