most of the sites have charts that show what sizes will do the best.
Joie is the tww expert on corsets, i'm into them, and ordered my first but beyond that, i'm not an expert 12/8/2009 12:02:36 PM |

We're working our way up to buying one, and a variety of other items to go along with it (garter/hosiery, collar, clamps, and other french maid stuff) but we still need to save. Can't BELIEVE how expensive the good stuff is. 12/8/2009 1:24:07 PM |
LunaK LOSER :( 23634 Posts user info edit post |
^ it really is expensive - i've seen a few sites that do custom corsets and they're upwards of $400.

I'm flattered you remember, Amanda. I stopped making them a few years ago when I got a Real Job. My one regret is not getting more pictures of the ones I sold on the girls who bought them. 12/8/2009 5:34:56 PM |

theres way too many things in this thread that are not corsets.

Ditto. My girlfriend is about 36 B and while I don't particularly think badly of them, she doesn't think that's enough to justify a corset at all... which seems a stupid train of logic to me. Despite this, she definitely wants one. I'm just wondering if it's appropriate for her--she's of a pretty modest chic fashion and I don't know why kind of corset would be best, since there's a ton of different types out there.te for her--she's of a pretty modest

well, obviously underbust styles are an option and the first post in the thread looks decent for a small busted girl... a corset is supposed to be about the waist, not just the bust 12/8/2009 5:42:22 PM |

I can't honestly say she looks at many threads of women wearing corsets, Jay.
I have reassured her she will do fine, but the question of style is still one I'm interested in. 12/8/2009 5:45:44 PM |

A lot of elitists and career corsetmakers would argue that a corset has to be made of coutil with spring or flat steel, and that any corset not drafted to the customer's measurements isn't worth a damn. The conception of corset in the public mind covers most of what's in this thread for the style of a fitted bodice garment. I think they should offer shaping or a few inches of reduction which you won't get with plastic boning or Rigilene as it buckles after a few pounds of stress.
Smaller busted ladies can rock over and underbusts. I'd avoid anything with cups-- gentle shaping that allows for a swell (e.g. not gores), or underbusts + push up bras look great.
Corsets don't have to be worn on the outside. All corsets aren't latex, satin and leather so she could go for something sweet in cotton:

i need to pay her to make me one as well. it makes sense to just do an under bust b/c you never know what size the boobs will be.
the only ones i have are plastic...i need to make an investment.
