I'll probably cook a nice dinner or something. May get her some presents, but it won't be anything crazy like when I go all out for Christmas and her birthday. I hate going out on Valentine's day because it's amateur night and it just feels cheesy. Jeepin4x4 those are very good ideas. regarding the gadgets - is it something you think she would really like? i don't really care for gadgets that much (which makes it difficult for my boyfriend to find stuff for me because he's totally into gadgets) so if she's into them, awesome. if not, you might want to proceed with caution.

the gift certificate is a great idea. maybe do the gift card to a high end salon and if it's not too much, throw in a massage or mani/pedi too so she can make a whole day out of it.

the jewelry - i'm like your girlfriend - i don't really wear much. i only wore diamond earrings (and they screwed in so i wouldn't have to take them out everyday) but then my boyfriend got me a really nice necklace for V Day last year which i wear all the time and now a bracelet too which i also wear a lot. if you get her jewelry, i guarantee she'll wear it.

for my boyfriend - i am trying to find out how much Tiesto tickets are because i think i'm going to get those, a snuggie for him (because he always complains he's cold at work), The Smashing Book 2, and a 25 cent ring (inside joke about male engagement rings).

I feel the same way but still enjoy doing something a little bit special or different on V-day at home. Last year we made homemade marshmallows (which, yes, I would do at other times if I felt like it, but it was still nice to set aside a time to do something like that together). He got me nice flowers and I got him a massage (because it was right after my accident and he'd been helping me out a ton with everything, and it was just a convenient time/excuse to give it to him). I always make a handmade card, which would be pretty random to just do for any given Tuesday. This year I think we are going to make fondue at home. Nothing major, but a little different from our norm. It gives us a day to actually DO it instead of just being like "hey we should make fondue sometime" and then never getting around to it.
