Yeah I am not too optimistic about this season. Way too many question marks (DL, Secondary, will Irving be as good as before, who's the RB, is the OL mature enough, no punter, off the field issues) and only a few areas of true strength (QB and WRs, maybe LB if Irving is back).

I'll be surprised if we get a bowl game.

Any word on what happens with Chris Ward? The fact that Jeff Ruiz would still be our punter makes me 100 times less optimistic about next year. Either way I think we'll see improved play in the secondary with some experience and a couple of solid recruits like Amerson. Irving looked pretty good at the spring game.

I'm trying to take the positive approach, but I still get the feeling that we'll suck again next year.

I'm pretty sure they gave them out as appreciation for the former players that showed up. If Bill Cowher is spotted wearing State gear and that prompts a few people in Pittsburgh to buy some, then it has done it's job. Also former players like Cowher, Williams, Holt, Cotchery, etc. help us out in recruiting by coming back for the reunion. We get better players and begin to win more games, get to a bowl, perhaps even a good one that pays well, then I'm sure the athletic department doesn't care about a few straw hats that they gave out to the former players.

Did you miss where Zach Collaros stepped in and threw for a billion yards in Pike's absence last year? He was only a sophomore last year IIRC.

Losing Gilyard will hurt them much more than losing Pike.

This season is put up or get out. When expectations and excitement are this low and you have maybe the best player in the acc on both sides of the ball, its time to do some serious soul searching.

One more shitty season and TOB has got to go. I'm thinking 8 wins or else...

papa johns is a minor bowl game. chuck won a few of those in his day too though. gator bowl used to be a top notch non bcs bowl game. I think we played the #11 team in the country.
