Going with my wife to see it at midnight. What time should we get there? I don't necessarily have to be the first one in but I don't want a shitty seat either. She says 8, I think that's a bit extreme since we have tickets and they're showing it at like 9 different screens in the theater we're going to. But then again, I've never been to a midnight HP so I have no clue what's appropriate. 7/14/2011 8:06:37 AM |

It's opening night for the LAST Harry Potter, 8-9 is appropriate, and you won't be the first ones there. Even if there are multiple theaters playing it, that'll just make the crowding worse, particularly if they're all sold out. 7/14/2011 8:16:48 AM |

gf and i are going to see it at midnight as well.
we figure we'll head over at about 10:30. Because we live in Apex, it probably won't be as crowded as, say, Crossroads... 7/14/2011 8:33:52 AM |

I want to see this soooooo bad. i would love to see the double feature but I don't want to pay for part 1 again. If it per chance were a double feature for the price of one, I would be down! I want to see them both together for sure! 7/14/2011 11:45:31 AM |

I guess I don't have the itch, but I'd rather wait a week or two to avoid the 'got to see it the first instant it's available' crowd. Of course I hate crowds.
It's not like they are going to run out of tickets for the rest of the summer in the first few days. The movie will still be there in a month or two, you can casually stroll in right when it starts and sit in a near empty theater.

Got tickets through Fandango to see it on Sunday (my birthday). Hopefully a 4pm showing won't be too bad, especially non-Imax, non-3d in a theatre that has showings for those as well. 7/14/2011 12:04:00 PM |

Can't make it to the midnight showing because of a prior commitment and time conflict.
But found out they're having a 3am showing...so going to be tired at work tomorrow. 7/14/2011 1:12:42 PM |

I've got tickets to the 9PM showing at the Marbles IMAX 3D theater and SATURDAY. Since that's the second full day of release, do you think we still need to get there two hours prior? we were just going to be there at 8 otherwise. 7/14/2011 3:28:36 PM |

Thought it was a fantastic movie to end the series. Haven't read the book in a few years but I thought it threw enough in their to please to book fans and a little extra magic for the casual movie goer. 7/14/2011 4:24:43 PM |

Great til the last 15 minutes. Jesus.
Have to reiterate that it was great until then, especially McGonagall's part. There were some (to be expected) deviations from the book but it was all in good taste.

Saw it last night with the GF, we enjoyed it. It has been sad on here, but will say it again..It was kind dark (lighting wise), but very good movie and ending.
There was a couple things I had gripes about, but it did not take away from the movie. Definitely could have enhanced IMO.

I thought it was a good ending to the series. Lots of action. Its funny how the first part took place over months and months and the last part took place over a day or two. Enjoyed, will buy to finish the series when it comes out on DVD. 7/15/2011 11:00:11 PM |

Enjoyed it. But:
1) Really wished the final showdown had been in the Great Hall with all the people surrounding the fight, instead of HP and V off by themselves.
2) I missed HP repairing his wand with the Elder Wand before destroying it. 7/15/2011 11:49:50 PM |

Just saw it. I enjoyed it but it was a little different from the book (nothing surprising there). I was super disappointed about not having Neville's grandma around. Her line "I want to fight with my grandson," was always my favorite. Oh well! 7/16/2011 1:02:34 AM |

I knew when I was watching tht final battle that something wasn't quite right....thought I had remembered it being in hogwarts...forgot it was the great hall...they shouldn't have changed that....did not make the end of voldemort exciting. My other grief was not explaining he had Lupin and Tonks kid. 7/16/2011 6:59:30 AM |

Snape totally stole the show. Rickman performed exactly how I imagined that character in the end.

According to this--you may want to go earlier.
Quote : | "Planning to see the final Harry Potter film this weekend? Better do some planning.
Theaters are expected to be packed for showings of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" - the last installment in the movies based on J.K. Rowling's books about a boy wizard.
Though tickets for most shows aren't sold out, they are going several hours in advance of screenings. At the Wells Fargo IMAX Theatre in downtown Raleigh, seats are selling quickly.
Missy Whitted, box office cashier at Southpoint Cinemas and IMAX in Durham, said casual Potter fans who want to see the movie but don't want to face the crowds might want to wait until Monday or Tuesday.
Of course, the most diehard fans saw it early Friday, when shows started at 12:01 a.m. Nationwide, the premiere blew away the midnight opening record with $43.5 million, displacing "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," which opened with $30 million.
The earnings from the "Deathly Hallows" midnight showings by themselves would rank the movie as the 13th highest-grossing opening day ever - and that was with 22 hours of the opening day to go." |

this made it twice as bad as it might have been otherwise. i wouldn't be surprised at all if some kids in the theater got all excited... but full grown adults clapping in the middle of a movie? come on guys.

I am pretty satisfied with the movie (it was awesome), but I will admit I was a little disappointed with Neville's big part and how they tweaked it :/
Oh.. And it irked me that they kept having a noise from Nagini's tongue. Plus, why make her strike similar to a viper or other venomous snake but make her look like a python (and act like one in the first part?!) 7/17/2011 11:43:06 PM |
