I saw The Bron James take off walking from the 3pt line twice towards the end of lastnights game. All the announcers did was rave about how he looked like Charles Barkeley so I rewinded each one to count steps and he took 5 on the first and 4 on the second.
I knew it was no way possible for him to pick up his dribble at the 3pt line, step around 2 defenders and make it all the way to the basket without traveling. 2/21/2011 11:33:34 PM |

So does this put Lawson and Felton on the same team?? That's kinda interesting. Maybe they should pick up Cota.
I hope this gets more minutes for Lawson. He's been on my "waiting to cut" list on my Fantasy Team for weeks. He produces when he gets minutes, just doesn't always get them with Billups ahead of him. 2/22/2011 7:33:53 AM |

The Nuggets have to be shopping one of the two out of Felton and Lawson. They are the same player. Lawson does produce when he gets a chance so maybe the Nuggets will move him to a team that needs a PG. 2/22/2011 10:16:01 AM |

The Nuggets are now officially Nene Hilario's team, he is now undoubtedly the best player on the team
I see him leading Denver to a Western Conference Championship at minimum. Honestly I'd be shocked if he didn't singlehandedly lead them to a 4-0 sweep of the Celtics in the finals. He's just that good. 2/22/2011 3:45:19 PM |

Terrible trade for New York. Carmelo isnt a great player but he's going to be paid like he is one. In the meantime they just gave up all of their assets and cap space to get him.
WHOOPS.
Good luck trying to convince CPIII, D.Howard, or Deron to come play in NY without offering the maximum. Have fun coming in 5th or 6th in the Eastern Conference every year.
Good trade for Denver, they were going to lose Carmelo anyway and they got some young talent and draft picks for him.
Melo is one of the most overrated players in the league. People pretend he's a superstar but in reality he isn't one of the top 25 players in the league and will likely flame out again in New York.
I can't think of a better city for an overhyped never was to go to... call me if they ever make the 2nd round without a 3rd "superstar" joining (boy does that term get thrown around loosely these days) 2/22/2011 10:11:49 PM |

I'm not really a Carmelo fan, but you are wrong. Carmelo is arguably the best pure scorer in the league right now. He's a great player, no question. Whether he can elevate everyone else's greatness like MJ, Kobe and others have done to win championships is the bigger question.
But again, you are wrong.2/22/2011 10:16:20 PM |

He's a guy who shoots a lot you are right about that.
Not a guy who is really all that good though.

did a trade actually happen? it was so out of control and getting so bad publicity and franchise wise, the knicks should just wait till the off season, trading felton is absolutely idiotic
oh god I just realize isiah thomas prob masterminded this; no matter the press is saying this is more of a publicity move then actually building a franchise right now, why isiah was invited back to seize power in this franchise is beyond me, something really seems to be special between him and the owner, I really wonder if it's sexual (isiah is secretly gay isn't he?), regardless they shouldn't have traded 3 starters away when they probably still would have gotten melo in free agency

In case you haven't been following the Wizards (like everyone), it's likely they might pull something like the Caps and go from perennial has-beens to a playoff team in the next couple years, if Wall has someone other than Josh Howard to work with. Ted Leonsis is willing to take criticism and take drastic steps.
However, they're coming from further down and I expect they'll be a 7 or 8 seed, maybe in 2 years.
They need draft picks. 2/27/2011 5:21:45 PM |

can't believe the stout Miami defense let a scrub like Carmelo put in 29 meaningless points
and props to Lebron James, the best player ever, even better than MJ, etc, and especially better than Kobe...props to him for getting completely owned on his final basket attempt, by both Melo and Amare, neither of whom are superstars

I guess I just dont get the point of making up fake arguments and then arguing against them.
Carmelo is a scorer not a scrub, I've certainly never argued that. He's not an elite basketball player though obviously. Now if a true elite player like Dwight Howard or Chris Paul joins the NY Knicks then we can talk about them being contenders. Although, Chauncey is still pretty good and they aren't contenders right now so obviously Dwight would improve them more than CPIII would.
Quote : | "Oh yeah also, 72 wins was in play before Mike Miller got hurt. Now they look like a 62-65 win team, can't see them even getting to 70 without Miller for 25 games." |
So I was predicting 62-65 wins and thats before the Haslem injury which obviously made them significantly weaker. Not to mention Miller struggled well after his initial return. They're probably going to end up right around 60 wins, so I was pretty accurate there.
Lebron is significantly better than Kobe is right now, its not even close. Lebron at his peak is also significantly better than Kobe ever was at his peak. Those are inarguable so no need to really elaborate.2/28/2011 1:00:11 AM |

I meant elite compared to NBA basketball players. Obviously, compared to the human population he would be considered elite.
In the NBA he's certainly a good player. Just nowhere close to a dominant player like Lebron, Howard, CPIII, etc.
He's worth about 2 wins more than Gallinari and Billups is worth about 2 more wins than Felton and Turiaf is worth about 2 more wins than that awful Russian so yeah they got better. But they were a borderline .500 team that is now about equivalent to a 50 win team.
In other words, they're on par with the Hawks. Great. 2/28/2011 1:29:23 AM |

Wait, where are the Carmelo fans. I thought Nene sucked, how come he's dominating now that Melo is gone? Why are the Nuggets better and the Knicks not? I need someone to explain this for me. Oh here's the reason...
Quote : | "Carmelo Anthony is Not Entirely Happy in New York? Posted on March 20, 2011 by dberri| 34 Comments Well, that didn’t take long.
According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, some problems have already appeared with respect to Carmelo Anthony’s behavior in New York. Here is some of what Berman had to say about Melo.
Anthony’s pouty behavior in Friday night’s 99-95 loss to the Pistons, his bad oncourt body language, his failure to join a timeout huddle when not in the game has raised red flags about his readiness to handle the pressure for being a basketball star in New York.
…. Earlier this week, Anthony questioned the Knicks’ defensive schemes after the Indiana losses.
The Knicks have played 14 games with Carmelo Anthony, and the team’s record has only been 7-7. When we look at Wins Produced, though, the team appears a bit better than a 0.500 team.
Since the trade, the Knicks’ players have produced 7.5 wins, which translates into nearly 44 wins over an 82 game season. The source of these wins, though, may be surprising to those who see Melo and Amare Stoudemire as the star players on the Knicks. As the following table indicates, both Anthony and Stoudemire have been below average across the past 14 games (average WP48 – or Wins Produced per 48 minutes – is 0.100).
Although the “stars” have come up short, the guards on the team are saving the Knicks. Specifically, Landry Fields, Toney Douglas, and Chauncey Billups are producing 74% of the team’s wins since the trade.
In looking at these numbers, one wonders if this trio should be pouting. After all, if Melo and Stoudemire were as good as people believed, this team – with Fields, Douglas, and Billups producing as we have seen — could already be a title contender.
Of course, Melo and Stoudemire are not quite as productive as their reputations suggest. They are also not quite as bad as their numbers after 14 games suggest. In other words, 14 games is a very small sample; so we should expect to see more production from the Knicks’ stars. And one should quickly note….we also should expect to see less from Douglass. Last season Douglas posted a 0.083 WP48. And prior to this trade his WP48 mark was 0.085. These numbers suggest that Douglas is probably not as productive as he has appeared across the last 14 games.
Although 14 games is a small sample, we do have a larger sample from Melo’s career that allows us to conclude the following:
¦Carmelo Anthony is really not as productive as his scoring and corresponding reputation suggest. ¦The acquisition of Carmelo Anthony is not going to transform the Knicks into a contender. ¦That means the Knicks are not going to win as often as their fans and Carmelo Anthony will like. ¦But because both the fans and Melo think Anthony is a star, neither the fans nor Melo will ever blame Anthony for the failure of this team to win as often as they would like. And that means, expect to see Melo to continue to pout, his fans to make excuses, and other people (like Coach D’Antoni?) to eventually take the blame. " |
