Apparently HD agrees with some of you guys:
Quote : | "NC State 38, Western Carolina 17: As Tom O’Brien said, any opponent with “Carolina” in it should be taken seriously by his team, but the Wolfpack should come out on top as Western Carolina finished 2-9 last year. " |
I'll take the Over on Wolfpack points and the Under on Catamounts points.

Running backs Brandon Barnes (ankle) and James Washington (hamstring) are among those that will not suit up against the Catamounts at Carter-Finley Stadium. Jarvis Byrd (knee) and offensive guard R.J. Mattes, who continues to recover from knee surgery, are also listed as "out" on the injury report the school released Thursday morning.
Defensive end Sylvester Crawford (hip), wide receiver Quinton Payton (finger), and wide receiver Jay Smith (groin) will also miss the contest.
Defensive backs Jesse Riley and Rashard Smith have already been ruled out for the season with knee injuries." |

Quote : | "Haynes earned his starting job
By Tim Hall
N.C. State's first depth chart of the season gave us an unexpected starting running back that begged the question, "Who is Dean Haynes?"
The redshirt freshman started the preseason camp hoping to win a starting job in the secondary. But a lack of production at the position and some added stability in the secondary left the door open for him to win the job. Coach Tom O'Brien spoke highly of Haynes work as a quarterback and a running back on the scout team last year.
With true freshman Mustafa Greene second on the depth chart and junior Curtis Underwood and sophomore James Washington not listed at all, many wondered if this move was just a scare tactic to jolt the more experienced backs into gear.
Wolfpack analyst Tony Haynes joined 620 The Buzz on Thursday morning, and he doesn't see it that way at all.
"I don't necessarily think that coach O'Brien is starting Dean Haynes because he wants to send a message to Curtis Underwood or James Washington, or whoever else. I gotta take him at his word," Haynes told Mark Thomas and Mike Maniscalco on The Insiders. "He feels like the guys that were expected to get it done early in camp, they weren't really impressed with. Right now for this game they think Dean Haynes is the guy they trust most to get the job done."
Even though [Dean] Haynes had experience rushing the football for nearly 900 yards as a high school senior in Georgia in 2008 he was somewhat startled at the news that he'd be starting at tailback.
"I was surprised. Coach [O'Brien] came to me and said if I learn the stuff I'll have a chance to start," Haynes said. "So I've been working my butt off and doing the things I'm supposed to do so I'm surprised, but then again I kind of earned it."
And although he spent time as a scout team quarterback and running back last season, it wasn't easy to get familiar with the playbook having switched from defense a little more than two weeks before the first game.
"It was pretty tough, I mean I had looked at the playbook last year just from playing some quarterback," Haynes said. "But other than that I had never seen some of the plays so I was in the playbook alot, made flash cards and everything for the plays."
[Tony] Haynes said one of the things that got the Pack's new starting running back the job was his understanding and execution in pass protection and blocking.
"I think they feel that Dean Haynes is the most complete back that they have right now, the guy they trust the most," Haynes said. "I also know they've been very impressed with the physical abilities of Mustafa Greene, who has opened some eyes in the preseason as well."
Look for Greene to get plenty of action against Western Carolina on Saturday too, especially since James Washington is sitting out with a hamstring injury.

Think of the wolf eyes as the wolf's nose pointing towards the ground and it's eyes looking at you. Similar to this pic.

haven't seen it mentioned in this thread at least: Time Warner came to an agreement with ESPN finally (did anyone really think it wasn't going to happen? don't let those commercials fool you...) each couldn't afford to lose the other. also included in the deal though is ESPN3 (probably not in time for tomorrow but the terps12345/terps1234 user name works. used it tonight) and these:
Quote : | "— access to a new authenticated service that will give subscribers the opportunity to watch the linear networks ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU through their broadband services as well as mobile Internet devices, such as an iPad. Details on the launch will be forthcoming.
— ESPN Goal Line, a new service developed with Time Warner that offers a super-highlight channel available only to TW subscribers. That could launch as early as Saturday." |
definitely wondering about that second thing. definitely want the first thing.9/2/2010 11:10:13 PM |

also:

okay after reading about this ESPN Goal Zone thing, it looks like it's just redzone except for college football.

Paint scheme on the field looks great. Seriously, why the hell couldn't we do that the last few years? I even kinda like the wolf eyes.
Only gripe is it looks like there's too much room on both sides of the "A" in WOLFPACK. All the other letters seem to be compacted together, but the A sort of floats out there.
