From the way I understand it areas have a set level range.

If a cave has a range from 10-16 then if you go in at level 1 the enemies will be level 10, if you go in at level 30 they will be level 16.

This is correct. Just like in Fallout 3. An area has a set level range and where within that range the monsters spawn is determined by your level.

So the game will generally level up with you, but you can definitely wander in over your heard (and I know Todd Howard said that he wants to reward people for surviving such events) and you also won't get gibbed by super-rats when you're level badass.

First of all you can pre-load it a week or 2 in advance so it's ready at midnight on the dot. Second of all even if you couldn't it would only take 30-45 minutes to download.

Yeah I was expecting a little more from the graphics seeing as how much Oblivion was ahead of it's time. Oh well I'm sure we'll start seeing texture mods/data packs. It's really about the game place which has been stellar so far.

Yeah, that's the reports that I'm reading. That and they somehow made the menu interface worse than it was on Oblivion.

I hate to say it but a lot of the (PC) message boards I'm reading are filled with mostly criticisms. Nearly all the criticisms are followed with a "but it's really fun." At this point I'm assuming the criticisms aren't all that serious but at the same time I get a vibe that people are reserved in their criticisms because they don't want to be the first guy that's disappointed by the game. Hence all the criticisms being flanked with vague praise.

I guess I'll keep my eye out here to get a good sense of how decent the game is.

Ha, Morrowind was awesome.
How are the guards and crimes handled in Skyrim? My biggest complaint about Morrowind was that you could "off" an NPC in the middle of nowhere in their house and receive the message "Your crime has been reported". Then I'd leave their house and there would be guards coming out of nowhere. Even if I had a writ, all of my stolen stuff would be confiscated as soon as I chatted with him.

Please tell me this has all changed.

4 hours in I'm loving it. I'm not sure what people are complaining about with the UI. You can click on everything if you want.

What are some complaints? I'm not seeing a whole lot wrong with it. The gameplpay isn't very different from Oblivion, just tweaked and enhanced. It's like Oblivion++. It hasn't bugged out on me yet either.

^LOL yeah, I read that a great way to gain sneak is to put a bucket on someone's head and just sneak around them. I bet Bethesda is going to add AI code to remove buckets placed on people's heads or count that as a hostile action.

It's fun so far but I think the UI sucks compared to Fallout/Oblivion. It looks like a beta. There's no inventory screen or anything. I was like WTF when I started up the game.
