that shitty shade of blue has been a team color since 1995

they actually made it a little darker a few years ago

well yeah, i realize that's their color. they probably considered that when deciding the colors for a Carolina team. but it's not just that. it's the design, the prominent "CAROLINA", the invisible panthers' logo... i don't know, i'm not usually a conspiracy theorist, maybe i'm just being paranoid.

you're pretty damn dense.

the panthers marketing department didn't design these hats. they're designed by new era/the nfl. EVERY SINGLE TEAM HAS ONE.

http://www.nflshop.com/category/index.jsp?categoryId=12841176

the panthers hat is blue because it's their primary color. if you want to discuss the panthers choice of blue, that's a completely different conversation, but this hat was not designed to "look almost exactly like a UNC hat".

Should be black. We wear black more than blue, and all the other teams that wear black have black hats. I'm thinking the design was the NFL's doing, but they might've given the Panthers the option of going blue or black, and in picking blue, looking at the mockups, they had to have at least seen the resemblance, and any competent marketing department would've woken up Richardson from his nap/dump and said hey, we might have ourselves an opportunity here.

They probably picked that specific blue so that they don't get sued for picking a more popular color that another team might be using. And they are just trying to appeal to fans from both Carolinas with that name...

More popular color? Black is universal. Six other teams have black hats! Are we talking shades of black? Ebony Cashmere? Velvet Charcoal? Get the hell out of here.

that is a very effective argument against your point that the hats should be black. these are the hats the draft picks wear on draft day, so having a black hat would make it harder to tell which team it was at a passing glance. the only other team with a light blue hat is detroit. makes much more sense to have a blue hat from a branding standpoint.

and looking at the rest of the hats, i notice that CAROLINA's is one of the few that has the invisible logo (besides Miami and Oakland)

What do you think 21 year olds prefer, sky blue or black? What comprises a greater percentage of their wardrobe? I would really like to know.

^^Seriously? you don't see that most of the logos are more prominent than Carolina, Miami, and Oakland's? From a distance, you couldn't make the logos out on those three hats. The rest you can.

[Edited on April 3, 2012 at 10:20 PM. Reason : Jacksonville's is kinda invisible too]

Bullet, while I agreed with your thesis in principle, I felt that your tenuous grasp of the English language didn't allow you to string together a coherent argument to support that point. I simply put it into terms people could understand.

if you don't like the hat, don't buy it. Simple as that.

On the other note, does anyone know when the NFL release the schedule? I'm trying to go to couple of games this year, specifically the game in ATL.

^^ yeah. its not like that the ONLY panthers hat they're selling - not even by a long shot

ya can't blame their merchandising/marketing dept for targeting the largest audience in our own state with that design anyways... more merch$ should = more Big Cat $pend

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/04/04/panthers-sign-reggie-smith/

Quote :
"Former 49ers safety Reggie Smith was included in the PFT Hot 100 largely because he looked like a promising prospect coming out of Oklahoma in 2008. Smith was a starting cornerback for the Sooners, has plus size, and has shown quality effort on special teams. He was on track to be San Francisco’s starting free safety last year, before Dashon Goldson returned unexpectedly on a below-market deal two weeks into training camp.

The Niners didn’t seem to show any interest in Smith once he hit the free agent market, however, and on Wednesday the Carolina Panthers announced that they’ve the 25-year-old defensive back.

“Reggie has been on our radar since the beginning of free agency and is a player we think can come in and compete at safety,” said G.M. Marty Hurney.

The signings of Smith and Haruki Nakamura have officially put Panthers starting free safety Sherrod Martin on notice. Martin struggled throughout last season and will now face competition."

Sweet, Beason is a beast. I had to do some of the same exercises in physical therapy following my acl surgery and a lot of the issues come from being able to change direction or during stop/go situations. Have to lern to change weight without favoring the injured knee. Doesn't look like he had any issues at all.

^^ Great video. Holy shit he is ripped!

Also, one of my favorite quotes by him: "If I had to do it all over again, and go into that game with my Achilles injury, I would. Because football defines who I am. Sometimes you have to do something that you’ve never done to get something you’ve never had. The motivating factor is simple for me. To win, and not fear failure."

normally I wouldn't think giving an extension like that to a 32-33 year old receiver would be wise

but Smith is going to be a boss until he retires.
