I don't like guns. I don't think they serve any constructive purpose in a modern society. I'd like to see legislation enacted that would severely limit their availability and criminalize possession.

Again, I don't think this is quite ready for the House! Just my opinion, man!

Also, notice there's nothing in there about proactive thuggery by cops. There's a lot that needs to happen either in advance of any anti-gun legislation or at least in process.

That's more or less the entirety of my opinion on the subject. You can take bits of that and apply it to whatever far-fetched scare tactic horseshit you want, but that doesn't mean I support it.

And, look, it's not like you're expanding the pro-gun stance with some radical solutions. You're repeating the same tired shit I've heard for years, too.

I fail to see where that would have a meaningful impact on lessening the guns already owned by the population. Sure, shut down legal imports and domestic manufacturing (goodnight, sweet jobs), but you still have millions already owned. And if they're now illegal and you have a population against their prohibition, it's not likely you'll see people carrying them around. And this still only serves to disarm the law abiding, thus having even less effect on gun violence. It's already illegal to use firearms in the commission of a crime or for many criminals to even posses. So now it's doubly illegal? I fail to see where they would care.

A ban on guns is really easy to enact. All the government needs to do is take all the ammo from the store shelves on a set day (surprise move that no one knows about). I will do my damnedest to be sure I'm prepared in the--admittedly unlikely--event I should ever have occasion to defend myself or my family from one of them, be they of foreign or domestic threat.

It's not about being a gun nut. It's a hobby, sure, and a damn fun one. But it's rooted in safety, longevity, survival and preparedness, qualities that should not be dismissed even by the most urban of men.

I keep myself reasonably fit, so I will be physically pepared for anything. I keep lots of tools and try to remain handy with most common repairs and fabrications. I keep firearms to protect myself from those who might accost me with their own. It's not tin foil hat, it's not nutty, it's common sense for the self-sufficient individual.
