The Challenger always has inbuilt advantage when talking about the economy. He can make it sound like every idea he has is a surefire hit (since it hasn't been tested), while the incumbant's successes and failures have been seen already. That was the part of the debate where Romney really had to gain a huge edge, and I don't think he did.

Foreign policy, social issues, etc Obama has the chance to smash him.

i (generally) agree with you...i don't think i'd be good father of a special needs child and i think that, at this point in time (and, admittedly, without any experience), i (we) would abort a child we knew to be special needs

I believe her argument was more that she could understand not wanting to put a child through the problems hers have experienced because of her "selfish" desire for children. She's mentioned a few times on the board how irresponsible (correct me if I'm wrong, Erica) she felt having children knowing the problems she had as a child and that those problems were a genetic possibility.

It's not the purpose, but that's what they're used for. Standardized testing is a rather poor measurement of learning. MC test are designed for grading convenience not in-depth analysis of student progress.

Most of TWW knows that I have two children with potentially fatal conditions. We knew that something was wrong with each of our children in the first trimester. When you do not know the severity of things and you're just waiting on the results of a CVS or amnio and you're running the worst case scenarios through your mind, you have to open your mind to all of the options.
