I for one would not be happy with this move. You have to remember that Morris was still coaching HS in 2009. Granted it was TX HS football but still. We are for the time being still in a BCS conference and I think we can pull someone with some HC experience. Don't mind a coordinator with a bit longer track record but this has to be an upgrade and not a lateral move if you're going to risk it.

TOB isn't great but its stable, bowl visits, and 5-1 against UNC.

Hamilton would be more what I would be looking for from a coordinator standpoint. Been around, spent some time in the league but mostly college gigs. Member of strong but not crazy or schizophrenic teams (I'm looking at you Clemson, WVU, etc.)

I always liked and supported TOB. I felt like he was a classy guy and most of his teams appeared well coached (after the first couple of games each season). His staff didn't always make the right call during games, but hindsight is 20/20 and usually when they screwed up it was b/c the calls were too conservative. I felt like our defensive performance has at times been sub-par considering our talent.

One place where TOB has failed is in recruiting. Considering our stature, facilities, and the strength of our fanbase it is unacceptable to consistently get out-recruited by UNC. Do their fans even really care about football? Holy shit the weather girl on fox news is hot. Wow. I would do terrible things to her.

Anyway, I am worried about next year. It seems like we are losing almost everybody and replacing nobody. Thank god for Thornton. We just haven't done a good enough job of replacing the talent we had. Look at the linebacker situation this year. It's gonna be like that on both sides of the ball next year. Over the years, I think TOB has done well with the talent we had, but could have recruited better. I feel like we are facing a rebuilding year next season and some of the blame for that falls on TOB.

I am not sure if Yow sees it the same way. It seems more likely to get rid of TOB for his below average recruiting than for his average record. Maybe she needed a new coach as an excuse for what is coming next year, I don't know.

Still, TOB is a pretty good coach and it would be stupid to fire him unless we already had private discussions and a commitment from someone who we consider a better coach. I do not want a ride on the coaching carousel as we may end up with Sidney Lowe as our next football coach. I guess we will know when we see how long it takes to announce his replacement.

I guess considering the job she did with our basketball coach, I should give her the benefit of the doubt. I guess.
