10 person league
why Vereen? 8/29/2013 12:13:10 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148440 Posts user info edit post |
If its PPR I'd definitely say Vereen cause he's gonna get lots of targets, at least from the few Pats preseason games I watched with the first stringers on the field
Pittsburgh has said Bell would be their workhorse, but he got hurt, and I still think Dwyer gets lots of touches...I'd take Dwyer before Bell, but I look at them as a platoon and I'd rather have one of the Pats platoon backs
Ivory will get lots of carries but do you really want a Jets running back
or a Cardinals running back
Bryce Brown might be ok if McCoy gets hurt, but I think McCoy will get tons of touches in Kelly's offense so I wouldn't go with Brown this early
Buffalo has said they're gonna give Spiller the ball until his tongue is dragging on the field or something like that...Jackson is a quality back but I don't like any Buffalo back not named Spiller at the moment
Moreno wouldn't be a bad option either imo, but I like Vereen the most 8/29/2013 12:18:44 PM |

vereen should basically replace danny woodhead this year. he's definitely the best bet out of those. fred jackson will still get tds if buffalo can get close to the endzone, but unless/until spiller gets hurt his value is really limited.
i'm really suprised there are starting running backs available in a 10 person league. that's nuts. i mean i don't like ivory or mendenhall at all, but it's ridiculous they are still available. 8/29/2013 12:22:17 PM |

So I'm in a 12-person, standard league (first timer). I picked 9th and my team is as follows; QB - Joe Flacco RB - Trent Richardson RB - Frank Gore WR - Calvin Johnson WR - Vincent Jackson WR - Michael Floyd TE - Vernon Davis DEF - Miami K - Randy Bullock
Bench RB - Montee Ball RB - Fred Jackson RB - Knowshon Moreno WR - Sidney Rice WR - Andre Roberts TE - Greg Olsen TE - Kyle Rudolph QB - Phillip Rivers DEF - Minnesota
So my problem is week 8 I have no QB (both on bye), and week 9 I'm a WR short because of byes. I have the following trade proposed to me; WR - Golden Tate QB - Sam Bardford RB - Bilal Powell for TE - Kyle Rudolph QB - Phillip Rivers RB - Knowshon Moreno
This solves both of my problems for now, as it puts players on my team to fill those bye week voids. Should I take it, or wait it out and see how injuries play out before trading?
I also have proposed a trade I'm waiting to hear back on. Flacco and Ball for Russell Wilson. Don't know what my chances on that are, Wilson is not the starter on that team, but I'm doubtful...
Suggestions? 8/29/2013 12:55:27 PM |

your real problem is in weeks 1-17, where you have no quarterback. 8/29/2013 1:03:02 PM |

I think either trade would improve your team. Russell > Sam though. maybe tell the first guy that you are interested, but are working on another move. hopefully he would wait, in the event you lose on Russell.
edit to say that that's a pretty good looking team, despite the QB issue. I'd do all in your power to get another QB. you're pretty deep in other areas where you have lots of pieces you could move.

^ Thanks for the helpful advice. Yes, QB is definately my weakest position. Everyone snatched up QB's ridiculously early, and so I shifted my strategy to taking the best peices available in order to have trade bait. I would obviously like to get a better starter, but that is proving difficult... 8/29/2013 1:14:35 PM |

I would definitely do that 1st deal. I think Bradford will have a good year, Powell may end up being the starting RB (at some point I guess---still, it's a Jets player), and Tate will probably be the #1 WR for the Seahawks. All that for a very bad fantasy QB, your backup TE who you may never put in your lineup, and a RB who may stay 3rd string. The Flacco/Ball for Russell doesn't seem great to me unless you get a decent RB in addition to Russell. I'd rather have Flacco/Bradford than Russell/Rivers as my QB rotation. 8/29/2013 2:11:51 PM |

i agree. the trade for bradford seems to be pretty good to me. he has all kinds of offensive weapons this year plus they signed jake long at LT. and you are getting the best WR for the seahawks along with trading rbs who will share time, while losing your 3rd TE.
do it before they change their mind. 8/29/2013 3:08:25 PM |

Brown down, great news for David Wilson owners(bad news for NC State/Andre Brown fans).
I was low on Wilson and Brown so I avoided both, but Wilson could get a ton of touches now, and might get the goalline carries as a result. Has to move up his value a decent bit for those who haven't drafted yet. 8/30/2013 8:51:06 AM |

I screwed up by gambling that Brown would win the job over Wilson. My thoughts were that Coughlin hates guys who fumble and Wilson is a fumbler. This injury just made my gamble that much worse. What do you think of my draft? 10 team standard (non-PPR), 4 points per QB touchdown, QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/WR/TE/DEF/K format
1. (9) Marshawn Lynch (Sea - RB) 2. (12) Alfred Morris (Was - RB) 3. (29) Roddy White (Atl - WR) 4. (32) Andre Johnson (Hou - WR) 5. (49) Vernon Davis (SF - TE) 6. (52) Matthew Stafford (Det - QB) 7. (69) Darren McFadden (Oak - RB) 8. (72) Greg Jennings (Min - WR) 9. (89) BenJarvus Green-Ellis (Cin - RB) 10. (92) Anquan Boldin (SF - WR) 11. (109) Kenny Britt (Ten - WR) 12. (112) Ben Tate (Hou - RB) 13. (129) Cincinnati (Cin - DEF) 14. (132) Jonathan Dwyer (Pit - RB) 15. (149) Graham Gano (Car - K)
I like my starters, and I thought D-Mac had good potential value. I also think Law Firm and Boldin could have great value, and if not, they're just reserve players anyway.

I'd probably roll with green, as he's been consistent for the past 2 years.. Des Bryant could be special if he builds off the 2nd half of last year.. So if you want to take a risk roll with Bryant.
Couple of questions for week 1: we get .1 points per rushing pr receiving yard and 4.5 for passing tds
Rg3 vs Philly Or Andrew luck vs Oakland
Jermichael Finley vs San Fran Or Zach sudfeld vs buffalo
Finally
Pick 1 between:
Randall Cobb vs San Fran Ahmad Bradshaw vs Oakland Chris givens vs zona

^ I like Luck(against Oakland at least), Finley and Cobb in my opinion.
Got sucked into co-owning a team with my father-in-law again this year in their annual league. 2 QBleague, 6 pts per pass TD, 1 point ppr, start 2 QB, 2 Rb, 2WR, 1 flex, d/st, kicker. To top it off, you have roster minimums (we have to have 2 kickers and 2 d/st at all times). We went Brady early last year and paid the price (only like 3 QBs went in first round, so all the RBs were gone. This year we decided to go RB and chase QB late.....and then 8 QBs went in the first 11 picks...so we suck at QB.
Our Team: QB Andy Dalton QB Carson Palmer RB Adrian Peterson RB Darren McFadden WR Calvin Johnson WR Wes Welker TE Jimmy Graham Flex Giovani Bernard D/ST Patriots K Garrett Hartley
BN Ryan Tannehill BN Shane Vereen BN Roy Helu BN Steve Smith BN Kenbrell Thompkins BN Jordan Cameron BN Lions D/ST BN Kai Forbath
You pay out a dime for every point you finish below the teams ahead of you in the standings, so points are important. I see us struggling again this year sadly.
Should we drop Kenbrell Thompkins for Lance moore? 9/1/2013 12:18:42 PM |

Both Thompkins and Moore are somewhat risky. I'd probably go with Moore. But I really don't know a lot about Thompkins.
Just had my draft. 10 team league, .5 PPR. I had 10th pick
QB Tom Brady (3rd round) RB Alfred Morris (2nd round) RB Reggie Bush (4th round) WR Calvin Johnson (1st round) WR Antonio Brown (6th round) WR Cecil Shorts (7th round) TE Rob Gronkowski (5th round) D Seattle K Janikowski BN Lamar Miller BN Joe Flacco BN Owen Daniels BN Vincent Brown BN Kendall Wright BN Marcel Reece
I don't really like my bench that much. And outside of Megatron I'm iffy on my WRs. Part of that is due to taking a chance on Gronk. I was pretty pleased Calvin Johnson fell to me at 10th though.

So ignore the kicking position, as there are plenty available. I forgot which K/Def I drafted, but I drafted them to immediately drop to see how the preseason panned out and add a couple prospects (Kenbrell Thompkins & Joique Bell). It's a deep 14 man league, double QB... I'm struggling at QB and I can trade for Rivers or Roethisberger who are sitting on my buddy's bench. Who is disposable on this team?
Starting: QB - Carson Palmer QB - Brandon Weeden RB - Jamaal Charles RB - Steven Ridley WR - Marques Colston WR - Hakeem Nicks TE - Jordan Cameron FL - Maurice Jones Drew DEF - Chiefs K - ______
Bench: Giovanni Bernard, RB Tavon Austin, WR Mike Williams WR Terrelle Pryor, QB Zach Sudfield, TE Kenbrell Thompkins, WR Joique Bell, RB
Notes: - I'm trying to trade up for the 49ers D/ST; I'm only playing the Chiefs because they're playing the Raiders first week (after that I'll drop). - I'm set on RBs (I have 3 top 15 RBs in a 14 man league) - Probably gonna drop Bell or Pryor/Weeden for a K, we'll see - I'm a little shaky on WR, Nicks is concerning and Mike Williams is consistent.
Any thoughts on my weaknesses or anything would be appreciated TWW... 9/2/2013 2:06:00 AM |

If you aren't starting Sudfield this week when Gronk is out then why even have him on the team?
Without knowing the bye week situation of your RBs, I'd suggest trying to package Nicks & Bernard for a QB upgrade (better than Roethlisberger). Ideally, you could land a good QB, but at least someone in that congested Kaep/Ryan/Luck/Romo/Stafford/Wilson group
And unless I missed where the Chargers signed 5 starting-caliber offensive linemen, then I'd honestly rather roll the dice on Weeden than Rivers

I wouldn't say Rivers or Roethlisberger are big upgrades over Palmer and Weeden. Maybe if you can get Rivers for one of your bench guys (Thompkins, Bernard) that would help you just with depth and you can play the matchups. If you think Thompkins will live up to the hype, maybe offer Nicks for Roethlisberger.
I don't know who your friend has as his QB1/2, but I'd consider targetting one of those and giving away Ridley or Jones Drew (Ridley if PPR, otherwise Jones Drew). If he's weak at RB, you can convince him that he can improve there and still have Ben and Rivers to play as his second QB. Good luck though, I wouldn't buy it.
It's tough to get in a 2QB league and get shut out because there aren't many options that open up during the season. In a 14 team, 2 QB league, I'd have 8-9 QBs rated as first round picks. 9/2/2013 5:30:05 AM |

Also, for those in Yahoo leagues, I like the concept of the new 'Draft Grades' thing they added, but it has poor execution. I got a B- on my draft, but it penalized me for not drafting a backup QB, TE, DEF or K, and factored in my projected point totals to act like those positions would just be empty on my bye weeks, when I'd obviously pick up a backup for each of those weeks.
It also seems to contradict itself
