I will unabashedly support them being executed by the government. i only wish that we didn't have such a long appeal process. he should have been killed the second the gavel fell.

Just curious, why did you bump this thread with a story from 1998?

Yep, I'm only lukewarm for the death penalty. I think we should have it, but it's not a major issue for me.

but...Fuck that motherfucker. Could have just taken him out to the yard and blown his brains out, as far as I'm concerned.

well unless you think the death penalty is going away anytime soon it seems like a better alternative than these brutally botched lethal injections lately.

you would imagine a protocol for a rapid follow up shot if they werent instantly killed; instead of convulsing on a table for hours?

if cost is a consideration i imagine rifle cartridges are cheaper than the unattainable drugs? again, why is that cocktail so intricate? why not simply OD them on something common and painless? its not like its medical personnel administering it anyway.

I don't really see what the big deal is. It's violent, but that seems like a pretty superficial distinction.

So not only are you okay with murder, you are okay with violent murder where the victim might feel pain?

cant be any more painful than these botched lethal injections; do they aim for the face?

seems like that would be instantaneous... dont know how i feel about this, but lethal injection is certainly bullshit right now. the three drug combo is ludicrous.

Conservatives usually rationalize these wrongful conditions by saying the guy had other crimes he was guilty for that warrant death… was that the case in this last one ?

This one was a grievous miscarriage of justice. For that matter most current administrations of the death penalty are grievous miscarriages of justice. I still don't think it should be abolished, but the scope of its application needs to be narrowed immensely.

It was a miscarriage, but abortion is illegal in Missouri, so...

Aside from the general issues behind Death Penalty cases this one is particularly egregious. not a single piece of physical evidence tied him to the actual crime. It was all based on a jailhouse snitch

I don't support the death penalty, but if you're doing it, firing squad is the way to go. It's what I'd choose if I were receiving or administering a death penalty.
