^^That is fantastic news. Not just for the team, but for Crisp. Guy has the talent to be a pro -- just can't stay on the field. Hope this year works out for him.

Getting Byrd for another year would be great too. We need all the good DB's we can get, and he's a playmaker.

Ugh.

Luckily, most of that experience is on the O-line. But we have a REALLY young defense, and starting another first time QB. Signs are already looking like a return to last years performance, rather than any kind of bowl trip. At least the new practice facility wont effect Trinity or TX lots.

Oh, wait.

Yep. Bowl game is definitely doable. Of course, OOC was weak as shit last year too. All depends on QB play

Pretty much every problem we had last year revolved around shitty QB play. We couldn't run the ball because teams stacked the box. We couldn't get first downs because we couldn't throw. Our OL looked terrible because our QB's had no pocket presence.

Since we had no offense, the defense was constantly on the field. I think they were a decent unit that just wore down over the course of the season and started mailing it in. It's got to be discouraging as a defender if the QB can't even hit the simple throws -- let alone make a play every now and then.

If Brissett can just be AVERAGE and make a few plays per game, I think we can be 6-6 and make a bowl. If he can come in and actually be GOOD, we could surprise some people.

I'm still saying we have a starting baseline of 5 wins. Might just win 3 ACC games though.

6-6 would be if we only go 2-6 or 3-5 in the ACC more than likely. I would like to think it's possible, but I have nothing to judge that off of yet.

No one is saying he's going to come in here and be amazing, but he just needs to 3-5 in Acc play, maybe even 2-6.

We have 4 guaranteed wins. We will beat a Wake team with a new coach at home. We will beat the 3 Sun Belt/FCS teams we play at home.

We should beat a bad USF team. Then it's just a matter of beating another ACC team at home. Prob BC or GT.

Pete Thomas could have won 5 games with this schedule.

Y'all got a boner for drama.

Not sure what you're basing this on. I might agree with you, but our projected starters have only one sophomore, who is a returning starter (Tocho). The rest are all juniors and seniors.

10 worst AQ non-conference schedules

NC State: Old Dominion, Georgia Southern, USF, Presbyterian
Vanderbilt: Temple, UMass, Charleston Southern, Old Dominion
Mississippi State: Southern Miss, UAB, at South Alabama, UT-Martin
Alabama: West Virginia, Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss, Western Carolina
Florida: Idaho, Eastern Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, at Florida State
Arizona State: Weber State, at New Mexico, Notre Dame
Duke: Elon, at Troy, Kansas, Tulane
Pittsburgh: Delaware, at Florida International, Iowa, Akron
Texas Tech: Central Arkansas, at UTEP, Arkansas
Colorado: Colorado State, at UMass, Hawaii

NC State takes the top honors, and it's easy at a glance to see why. That's two schools making the transition to FBS, an FBS school coming off a 2-10 year, and an FCS bottom-feeder. Good seats still available."

Ok we better have a perfect season through sept 20th....

Just relooked over the schedule

FSU, Clemson and Louisville 3 out of 4 weeks... They better have enough alcohol in Raleigh that month.

The good news is with this ACC schedule, if we do somehow go undefeated, we will def been in the BCS championship mix.

Yeah, we need to first beat FSU at home. But beating Clemson in Death valley will be much tougher. If we do both, we will be in pole position in the Atlantic, and in BCS contention.

Must. Not. Get. Hopes. Up.

Beat defending National Champion FSU? Same one that spanked us this past season? Same one returning Heisman winning QB? Same one that has destroyed Doeren's system at both NC State and NIU?

HAHAHA, that's funny. Go ahead and mark FSU and Clemson as losses, Louisville will be interesting now that Bridgewater is gone, that one might be a possibility.

We've spanked FSU the last 2 times they've visited CF. I still don't understand why folks don't get that CF is the toughest place to play in the ACC. And we also have a history of beating FSU when they were defending national champs.(Torry Holt?). It will be a close game.

And Clemson is without Tajh Boyd & Sammy Watkins and are in major rebuilding mode & will suck donkey balls this season. I see no reason we can't come away with a W at Death Valley. Infact I expect it.

Our ACC schedule is strong enough. FSU is a solid top 10 team, and so would anyone we face in the ACC Champ game, most likely a ranked Duke team.

I don't remember FSU playing a good team OOC last season. Strong OOC schedules aren't a thing anymore in College Football.

2012 - 1 point win on the last play of the game.
2010 - 4 point win where Ponder fumbled the hand-off inside our 5-yard line with <1:00 to go

Really? "Spanked"? Yeah, 2010 we got lucky they fumbled a simple hand-off and recovered, and in the other game we made a big comeback and won on the last play of the game. Don't act like we just "dominate" FSU at home, and neither time was FSU coming off a National Championship game or working with a Heisman winning QB. Just a little ridiculous to start thinking we have a legit shot to beat FSU when they basically just smashed us last year and had their back-ups on the field after halftime.

even we weren't being lead by future nfl stars, we still beat fsu in raleigh in the daniel evans 3-9 "what critics" year. its just destiny.

We were not as bad as our record last year. We were competitive in a lot of those losses. lets also remember that a pete thomas team had clemson's best team ever (recent history) on the ropes last year. We probably played FSU tougher than everyone outside of auburn, bc, and duke.

^^were you high when you were watching the clemson game? because earl actually has a point about us playing clemson pretty close (and were reffed out of a potential game-winning touchdown - yes, i think it's legit to still complain about that obviously wrong out-of-bounds call)

I don't understand how you guys can use "but we almost kinda were up on Clemson at one point if the refs hadn't made a bad call" as some kind of reason why we weren't god awful last year.

And played FSU close? Did ya'll even watch that game or just look at the score at the end? They scored 35 points in the 1st quarter. I mean I love our football team as much as the next guy but to say they weren't as bad as their record last year is rediculous. That team was a complete joke.

End pessemistic rant. I am actually really looking forward to this season. The style of play last year was enjoyable to watch; we just didn't have the athletes to pull it off. Hopefully this year we can begin putting the pieces together.

No, Ponder fumbled the snap and had a wide open WR in the endzone, if I recall correctly. Still, it's not like we just got "lucky", it was a pretty even game. We drove down and went for it on 4th from the 1 (RW to George Bryan?) just before the Ponder fumble.

Point is that we have had played very well at home vs FSU and Clemson the past few years, even though we have been out matched in talent.

^ No Ponder fumbled on a play-action fake.

"Still, Christian Ponder -- who ran for a pair of scores and threw for one -- nearly rallied the Seminoles, driving Florida State all the way to the NC State 4 in the final minute. But on the fake, Ponder extended the ball too far as tailback Ty Jones ran by. Jones bumped the ball with his hip, knocking it free and to the turf."

But you're right, had he not had the ball knocked out of his hand, would have been a TD and we would have lost.

Never said our win was "all luck", I just said that we got lucky and the term used to define our win was "spanked"...nothing about the end of that game, or the 2012 one, said that we "spanked" them.

^ Yeah you're right, just knew it wasn't on a handoff.

Yeah, I wouldn't say "spanked" either, but we have consistently put up our best performances of the year recently when we host either FSU or Clemson
