It would probably a normal day. Business owners would at least make sure they have sufficient help before doing anything that could jeopardize that.

^^ wages are sticky. Wage cuts are extremely bad for morale, and therefore employers are loath to do them. As such, in the short term, the effect will be nothing. In the long term, more than 96+% of workers already earned more than the minimum wage, so their wages will be unaffected. A tiny percentage of workers in jurisdictions that had a $15+ minimum wage will experience wage cuts eventually.

What will be a noticeable shift will be moving workers from hourly wage to salaried wages, which in current law has a minimum that is pegged to a multiple of a full-time minimum wage (is my understanding). Similarly, this would allow private charities to finally pay something to their volunteers that currently must settle for being paid nothing because the charity cannot reliably promise to pay the minimum hourly wage now and in the future.

What MIGHT have a noticeable effect is the restoration of low-wage apprenticeships in private business, as high-school students go to work as assistants at low wages in order to build skills, experience, and break into their desired labor market. This could rescue many in the labor market from poverty that lack the resources to attend college.

Let’s say minimum wage was $10 an hour (and abolished) and I’m running a fast food restaurant. I would keep my current employees as $10 and as I hire new employees I would slowly move the pay down until I found a rate I stopped receiving calls for. Over time I’ve removed people and replaced them with people who will have less and spend less who would have made $10 and hour.

Not even going to address the charity bit bc it’s nonsense.

This is called an internship and it already exists.

I did several of them for little or no pay. This is not a viable employment option for people with expenses.

The benefits of removing the minimum wage you listed are extremely limited in scope or already exist and utilized by countless people.
