Anticlimactic. shocked lacey missed the layup, but glad gott let them play at the end there. Anya was getting picked apart down low, easy to get him to jump.

Season is over, this was amust win for our tournament hopes, will not beat UNC or Louisville on the road. This team played way better in the first few ACC games than they've been playing over the last month and a half, we've lost our identity offensively. Bigs not contributing and no real second scorer behind Lacey and he hasn't taken over like Warren did for us last year and he's the guy that has to do that.

Difference between a Virginia team with less talent than us being 22-1...Bennett manages to rotate Brogdon in and out for 5 minutes with four fouls. Gott played Turner the entire game on one leg and still refuses to bench his matador defense in the last minute when he's guarding a 90% shooter on the in bounds

At this point the refs are going out of their way to make at least one ridiculous as fuck call against us that they have to apologize for simply out of spite. LOL. "Oops, fucked you over again. Oh yea, there's nothing you can do about it so we'll just keep it up"

this team is so infuriating...they can be damn good (first half vs ND, the duke game) and so excruciatingly awful (clemson, wake, cincy, wvu)

Cat gets going a bit and its a total wash because Turmer has just fallen apart.

Since Florida St. he is taking 10+ shots a game and hitting 2-3 tops. When losing by a few points him having just average performances would make all the difference.

So close yet again, yet so far. I think two plays by Lacey epitomize our season. The first is when he dribbled the ball off his foot in front of Gottfried and it rolled out of bounds. The second was a missed layup at the end, typical for our team.

I can't get over how bad our bigs are on offense and defense. I didn't watch the full game, but was Abu in serious foul trouble? Gott better recruit a big man worth a damn for next season because our bigs are plain disturbing to watch at times.

Our bigs can't score and Turner and Caleb Martin's shots have gone to shit. Our only options on offense are Barber and Lacey. We should run the T J Warren offense where these two are the only two that get to shoot the ball.

did anyone see what happened down on the other end with Martin later in the half? he was surrounded by 3 or 4 UVA players after a turnover (offensive foul, maybe) and came away holding his face a bit, talking to the refs. Lacey (I think) was trying to draw attention to it, so I figured they may have thrown an "inadvertent" elbow in retaliation.

also, Bennett definitely should have gotten T'd up when he was way off the bench and chewing the ref out for a good 20 seconds straight after their turnover when the shot clock expired.

We're not ~terrible~. Terrible teams don't play the #2 team in the country (even without one of their best shooters), stay with them the whole game, and come within seconds of beating them. Better teams than us couldn't even do that.

We're young and inconsistent.

Every single one of you knew this at the beginning of the season. Yet we beat Duke, and win a couple of close games with last minute lucky shots and all of a sudden we forget we're young and inconsistent. The barn is not burning down, the sky is not falling, Gott is not the shittest coach in the land and doesn't need to be run out of town. We're exactly where we should be with a roster this young and the strength of our schedule. Christ, if anything we've over-performed.

So sorry we're not going to make the NCAAs with a team that really didn't have any business being there in the first place. It's not the end of our program.

If Ralston could have hit anything last night, we would have won. He had at least three wide-open looks from 3 but couldn't get anything to fall. His shot has never looked pretty, but it looks downright bad right now. It's coming out way too flat.

Really though, the game comes down to our bigs being terrible at offense. Anya can't do anything. Abu is too raw at this point. Washington is better from 20 feet out than 2 feet out. Freeman?

We only had 6 TO's the whole game, and 4 of those were on the big men. They would have had more, but we basically stopped giving them the ball.

Cat impressed me again. His shot wasn't falling, but he still found a way to score points when we needed them. He was terrific on defense all night too. And he had 0 turnovers again.

This is a defeatist attitude if I ever saw one. So a team with a couple 5 star rated players and core of 4 star recruits should be losing to teams like Wofford, Clemson, Purdue, and Wake and needing heroics to beat GT? That is bullshit.

No one is disputing that we have talent to play with good teams, but it is hard to watch and not be upset as we blow an NCAA tourney chance because of losses to inferior teams with inferior talent. Stop making excuses about youth. Every team can claim they are young from Kentucky to Duke to UNC. That is not a valid excuse in the NCAAs anymore especially 25 games into a season.

Overperforming is beating a Duke team that should have stomped us into the ground, taking a ND team that should have done the same to Overtime, and coming within a missed easy basket of beating UNC and UVA (or at the least taking them to OT as well). We over-perform against ranked opponents.

Take away those games and what have we done? Beat Pitt and FSU. That's about it. If you want to add the last-second miracle shot at GT, go ahead, but I'm not gonna hold that up as an example of us 'earning' a victory.

If all else fails, lower my standards? They weren't high to begin with. So sorry if I look at our program year-to-year realistically instead of through red-tinted glasses.
