Its just hard to get over the traditions of gender. You really only have to include who you want to, we used siblings as filler then it bit us and we had to find another so be careful who you add. 12/18/2008 8:51:44 AM |

this is YOUR and Chris' wedding...remember that when planning this. whatever YOU want to do is perfectly okay...and never "tacky." my favorite wedding blog is http://www.offbeatbride.com love love love
the only thing that's hairy is the guest list (ohhh the guest list...) and invitation wording "etiquette". everything else is just whatever. 12/18/2008 8:54:43 AM |

i wasn't a bridesmaid in shari's wedding, but i was just chris's girlfriend (although we'd been dating for 5 years then). i would never have expected to be included in her wedding anyway.
we hope to hammer out the guest list this weekend. our main priority is including everyone (chris's family is huge and close). once we have an idea of the number, that will determine the location and food and whatnot.

whoa, lots to reply to, kinda
OK, first off, I felt the same way - if the father can be the best man, why can't the mom be the MOH?? But when I told my mom that, she made it clear that she was the MOB and absolutely wanted to be MOB. She didn't want that position taken away from her to be my MOH, so at that point, I chose my best friend.
Also, my husband's sister was one of my bridesmaids. ***SHOUTOUT TO lucyinthesky, LOVE YOU GURL*** I had one spot left and rather than choose another girlfriend with whom I wasn't that close, I chose my husband's sister. Her and I were friends, but weren't "close" at that point. We've certainly become closer since becoming sisters-in-law though. If you have your friend Jenny in the wedding, you are not obligated for her husband to be in the wedding! 2 of my husband's groomsmen were married, and their wives weren't in the wedding, even though we're all really good friends. 2 of my girls were married, and their husband's weren't in the wedding either. It's all about what you want, and you can do whatever you want in your wedding!
You don't have to have even sides, not at all. It's also not required that you have anyone up there with you. MOH and BM could be all you need, so they can hand over the rings when the preacher asks. That's the good thing about weddings, they're all so different that really can do whatever you want, because it's your day!

you'll be happier doing whatever it is you want - just ask your mom if she's okay with the plan - she has the right to decline just like anyone else...
our wedding wasn't even on each side - i knew who i wanted up there with me and my wife knew who she wanted up there with her - we didn't try to change that just to have things even - i have 1 brother / 2 step-bros / 1 step-sis and my brother was one of my groomsmen - my wife has 1 sister and 2 bothers and her sister was her MOH - those are the only family members that were groomsmen or bridesmaids ]] 12/18/2008 9:37:53 AM |

yeah i thought about that, but i'm closer to her husband than i am to her actually. and they would be absolutely heartbroken if one was included but not the other (like long term damage to our friendship kind of heartbroken).
back to the dress. that is the first one i've seen that i like, although i think the neckline may be too deep. so, i guess i'm on the look out for one with similar lines and straps and whatnot, but just not as deep of a v-neck. seen anything similar?

well if you're closer to him than you are to her, then i'd say rule them out entirely, unless you're OK with having a guy for a bridesmaid. i realize it's becoming more and more common, but i think in the grand scheme of things, the pictures will be prettier with girls in dresses on one side and men in tuxes on the other

mom seems to think my scar would stand out too much. i dunno. everybody's seen it, it's not like it's a secret. plus there's bound to be some sort of make up i could use. after looking at it closely in the mirror, the *ugly* part is at the very top. the middle, where the neckline on that dress stops, looks like a normal scar, a little white line. i'm not going to wear something that cover that high up, high enough to cover the top of the scar...so i think that dress is still a possibility...12/18/2008 10:51:45 AM |

foundation/concealer can easily cover up a scar, but I'd worry about it getting on the white dress
My mom had thyroid surgery and looks like she got cut in a gang fight, but it's amazing what she can do with some concealer and a little elastomer putty. 12/18/2008 10:56:25 AM |

se7entythree, my scar is the same way - it's bigger and uglier at the top than it is anywhere else. But the thing is, everyone's seen it. They know it's there... I personally don't think you should be embarrassed by it, but I can understand the general concern.
Dermablend concealers may be your best bet, and I think especially the better formulas are made to not rub off on fabric, etc. 12/18/2008 11:10:53 AM |

You may find cow hide printed as a giraffe though.

If I was gonna go giraffe, I'd want the real thing, or at least velvet with giraffe print.
If I wasn't about to get a cat I'd get a couple goatskins to use as rugs.

I like that last dress too. But, dresses look COMPLETELY different once you try them on.
And for my two cents worth, if you find a dress you love and it fits you and your personality, and it's perfect, then don't let the scar keep you from wearing it. 12/18/2008 8:29:24 PM |

From the coupons thread, since I know not all of you keep up with that thread:
Quote : | "I got xmas presents from my family today. Among them were two chico bags. According to the hangtags, they're nylon bags, and can carry 20lbs. They have a little sack on the inside, and a carabiner. They truly are easy to stuff in the little carry sack.
The website says they're polyester, and carry 25lbs. Since my sister's chorus was selling these as a fundraiser, that could explain the difference.
At any rate, these are so awesome. Mom said if we can guarantee a quantity, she can probably get the booster club president to place another fundraising order.
$5/bag, no shipping. 50% of the cost stays at the booster club." |

Does anyone use any of the generic $4/30 days or $10?90 days birth controls for target, k-mart, or walmart? I'm hoping to switch to one of these because I am currently paying $60 a month.
Some of the generics are: -Sprintec -Estradiol -Medroxyproresterone -alendronate sod -tamoxifen
If anyone is on these how do you do with cramps? I'm on yasmin and once the generic kind, ocella, came out I jumped at the chance to save $40 only to not be able to sleep due to how bad my cramps were!!

Uh, tamoxifen is a cancer drug, not BC.
I was on tri-levlen generic when I first got on BC and it helped a lot with my cramps, which were horrible before I got on it. Actually when I first went to the doc I requested one that would help and that's what she recommended. I only switched because I wanted to try the Nuvaring. And then my cramps came back. And now I'm on Yaz and they are gone again, but that's not generic. 1/3/2009 11:27:13 PM |

Dude, what the hell
You're too stupid to be having sex.
alendronate sodium is fosamax - an osteoporosis drug
Where are you getting this information from? It looks like estradiol is only used in conjunction with other hormones, in BC

Please note that I'm not ragging on you, other than for clearly not having done any research. I am genuinely horrified at your starting point, and lack of understanding/information/what have you. I understand that you might be doing research right now, but on two of those drugs, a very quick google search would have showed you that, whoa, these aren't BC, and maybe this isn't a site on which one should rely on when it comes to BC

I liked Ortho TriSprintec, but now I'm on TriNessa because it's even cheaper. Generic doesn't matter, but if you want to make sure you're on something comparable to your Yasmin (which I hated) then you need to just match up the hormone levels. 1/5/2009 1:08:58 PM |

eye moisturizer. what do you use. i mean i have face moisturizer but my eyes (above my eye lid in between my eyebrows and just all around my eyes) are SUPER dry.
also does anyone use any night face cream or anything (for moisture AND just complexion in general). or any face masks for complexion and clear pores etc etc.
i don't know. how about everyone just lists everything they use on their face (wash, creams, masks, toners, etc -- everything besides regular makeup). i just feel like my skin is so dry and i feel like i'm getting old and ahhhh. i don't ever want crows feet and other wrinkly lines. 1/5/2009 1:14:10 PM |
