I seem to remember Lo Brown saying it was a problem that the team thought of Sid as a best friend.

As in being friends and letting them do their own thing?

Because that is exactly what we don't need.

We need a TOB disciplinarian for basketball.

we are fucked. should have kept Lowe, should have kept Herb, should have kept Les, should have kept Press Maravich, should have disbanded after the 2nd NC.

We are a Football school.

His recruiting is the thing I'd be least worried about. I just think teams like UNC would shred the fuck out of that defensive scheme he runs.

his own players have said they view him as a mentor and teacher, don't base your arguments against him on assumptions made by internet posters

No. I mean the fact that he's not an old white man. You can connect with young kids, and not be their best friend.

Shaka lost to Old Dominion, George Mason, Drexel, and James Madison coming down the stretch.

I agree that Smart is easily > Lowe, but he is a huge risk compared to someone with a track record.

If you are Stevens your stock is probably never going to be higher (of course I thought that last year too). If he was going to jump ship this would be the year to do it. That would indeed be an epic fucking hire.

could Butler be the next "fab five?" lose to Duke one year in the final game, UNC-CH the next year?

I think you meant lose to Duke and then hand Carolina yet another title as always seems to happen when they win it.

Or they could be the next dook, lose in a title game then win it back to back.

if he doesn't go to state, i'd bet stevens holds out for the IU job. crean probably gets 1-2 more seasons to do something significant, and then they'll throw the kitchen sink at stevens

PP is convinced Smart is a good coach which keeps me skeptical.

Dude has finished 4th and 5th in the CAA and we're ready to crown him.

Smart might have finished 5th and 4th, but that's still finishing in the top of his league.

Plus he's been to his conference championship game two years in a row, won the CBI championship, and been to an NCAA elite 8. Sounds like a pretty good tournament coach to me.

shaka has yet to lose a postseason game. i don't want a mid-major coach, but if we have to go that route we could do a lot worse than him. obviously i'd prefer brad stevens but i don't see him going anywhere.

Unless Stevens really plans on staying at Butler for his career or has a specific job in mind he is waiting for and figures will come open in a year or two he would be stupid not to leave after this season
