Quote : | "McCain camp defends the behavior? Posted: Friday, October 10, 2008 3:30 PM by Mark Murray Filed Under: 2008, McCain
From NBC's Mark Murray Earlier today, Obama remarked on recent outbursts of "Traitor!" "Terrorist!" and "Kill him!" at McCain campaign events. "It's easy to rile up a crowd," Obama said. "Nothing's easier than riling up a crowd by stoking anger and division. But that's not what we need right now in the United States."
In response, McCain senior adviser Nicolle Wallace released this statement, NBC's Kelly O'Donnell reports. "Barack Obama's assault on our supporters is insulting and unsurprising. These are the same people obama called 'bitter' and attacked for 'clinging to guns' and faith. He fails to understand that people are angry at corrupt practices in Washington and Wall Street and he fails to understand that America's working families are not 'clinging' to anything other than the sincere hope that Washington will be reformed from top to bottom."
"Attacking our supporters is a new low for the campaign that's run more millions of dollars of negative ads than any other in history."
*** UPDATE *** McCain campaign spokesman Brian Rogers adds in another statement: “Barack Obama’s attacks on Americans who support John McCain reveal far more about him than they do about John McCain. It is clear that Barack Obama just doesn’t understand regular people and the issues they care about. He dismisses hardworking middle class Americans as clinging to guns and religion, while at the same time attacking average Americans at McCain rallies who are angry at Washington, Wall Street and the status quo."" |

that's true, thanks for the clarification, Boone. I am not implying that normal McCain supporters are necessarily any "worse", "crazier", or "more dangerous" than normal Obama supporters.
but I am saying that people who are voting for McCain simply because, or mostly because, of their strong vitriolic hate for Obama are more dangerous that Obama supporters. You will simply not find the magnitude or number of people who hate McCain for x-reason as you will who hate Obama for [his perceived religion, his race, his "terrorist affiliations"]10/10/2008 8:09:03 PM |

Good good, lol, read em and weep. Every day the polling gets more devastating. You know shit is bad when McCain is forced to defend West Virginia by sending Palin out there, and now look, you've got Obama behind in freaking Georgia by 3.
Georgia.
Obama up at 79% on Intrade real money odds market. Unless something huge happens I'm not sure how McCain defends each and everyone of these Bush states that he is currently losing. He loses any and he is toast.

Wow. I have to hand it to McCain...he FINALLY steps in with decency after what was starting to become something scary. I hope it isn't too late.
Quote : | "After days of watching in silence, McCain calms the crowd at a Minnesota town meeting.
“I want everyone to be respectful. And let’s make sure we are, because that’s the way politics is done in America.”
Tells one supporter who says he’s scared of an Obama presidency: “I have to tell you, he is a decent person, a person that you do not have to be scared [of] as president of the United States.”
After a woman calls Obama “an Arab terrorist” McCain interrupts to say: “No, ma’am. He is a decent family man with whom I happen to have some disagreements.”" |

you bring up a good point. the prevailing wisdom is that these telephone surveys are incorrectly biased.
that they are incorrectly biased towards conservatives.
that the *true* numbers will be more in favor of Obama than they already are... because these telephone polls don't reach the growing segment of our population who only have cell phones, but no land lines. this segment which trends towards young, technically-aware, and politically liberal .
so, it's kind of ironic that you bring that up as a "counter" to the increasingly pro-Obama numbers coming out on a daily basis

I don't get you guys. I'm being honest in saying that kudos to McCain for addressing the crowd member. You throw red as fuck meat at your crowds, this starts to happen. You start putting the dots out there which I have repeatedly pointed on here 'he doesnt love America' + Ayers + Hussein, this is what you sow. I don't think he can save his campaign, and I certainly hope he doesn't, but if he finally takes the reins from his handlers and puts a stop to this slime, he just may save his reputation. I wish McCain well in that, I honestly do.
Say what you will but in a town hall format, NO ONE fucking deserves to say anything about Obama being an 'arab terrorist', how do you condone that? How do you tolerate that level of smear and hate? How?
It's startling and there's no room for it. It's not about living in fear it's about calling out something dangerous and fucked up. Guys, it's the trend...these crowds are getting more rabid as they realize they are slipping in this race. It really surprises me that you react the way you do saying it's just another Obama sensationalist media story. You should be proud of yourselves.

he raises a good point. We have 3.5 more weeks of this. When will the first riot start at a McCain rally? At this pace, it won't be long. McCain has to step back at some point and reign in control of his campaign. He has lost control of his handlers. He needs to step up and take control and get his staffers back in line and tell his supporters that it simply will not be tolerated to accuse Obama of being a terrorist or that he should be killed.
Come on - look at the sequence of events here. 1) Seemingly when more than 20 McCain supporters get together in a crowed anymore, they can't help but start yelling "terrorist" and "kill him" 2) In response, Obama, in about as understated of a reply you could ask for, simply says "it's easy to rile up a crowd" 3) McCain's campaign accuses Obama of "attacking our supporters"?
Are you *fucking* crazy? How can anyone support this behavior?
I've seen the emails that continue to fly around - I have family members who believe them. And when you have a VP Candidate who all but says Obama is a terrorist himself, thereby validating the crazy email rants, she's just adding fuel to the fire. Well if it doesn't settle down, one of these fires is going to explode and it ain't gonna be pretty.10/10/2008 10:15:37 PM |
