Gotcha, we don't get it in the Raleigh area until sometime in September.

I'm going to be in Asheville this weekend and I've been tasked to find a coffee-ish beer that isn't available here (Raleigh). Any suggestions?

^^ the only coffee beer I know for sure comes out of there - besides Highland Thunderstruck - is Pisgah Valdez (it's awesome), but it is draft or growler only if it's even around

that sounds kinda scary, honestly... i love coconut but i hate artificial coconut flavor. I tried one of those coconut water rockstars and couldn't more than two sips. coconut rum is kinda ok though... i wonder what the difference in flavorings is.

^ it's actually pretty great, they roast their own coconut

that reminds me - CV Hyper Monkey Java Stout, also of uncertain availability, but Bruisin' Ales or Appalachian Vintner usually have growlers of whatever is current

Have enjoyed some good beers this weekend. Cascade Apricot is damn good, much better than the Vine.

BASC is next week, $20 each, limit 4

I plan to get 4, but my budget may not allow more. Should be able to offer one for trade though.

Narwhal Imperial Stout is he latest beer in Sierra Nevada’s High Altitude Series. This malt-forward monster is bold – with notes of baker’s cocoa, molasses, and dark roasted coffee. This massive imperial stout is incredibly complex, rich, and intense and will develop in the bottle for years to come.

Style: Imperial Stout
Hops: Magnum, Challenger
Malts: Two Row Pale, Chocolate, Honey, Carafa, Roasted Barley

Availability: 12 oz bottles, Draft
Arrival: October, 2012

10.2% ABV, 60 IBUs

I saw "liquid piss."

I love peanut butter...I love beer...I don't think that's a good combination. But I'll probably give it a shot.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Porters are awesome, we've had two breweries experiment with it here in Denver (Renegade and Copper Kettle) and both turned out great. Renegade used like 1000 Reece's Peanut Butter Cups in their beer. I can't speak to Terrapin's liquid pissshit, but name aside I'd at least try it.

If anyone is going tomorrow to the BASC release and wants to sell a bottle or two, please do let me know! Or I may have a few goodies I could trade for some (2012 Parabola, Fresh (bottled in Aug) Pliny the Elder, 2012 KBS, Alesmith Speedway Stout)

I cannot make it as the wifey is pregnant and due any day now. Have to stay around Raleigh

every time i drink more than ~24oz of a sour in a day, i end up with a fucked up stomach for a few days. the worst being the day after a sour tasting, had the worst gut cramps i've ever felt, knotted and gurgling stomach and lots of vomiting, with no other appreciable signs of a hangover. so now i limit myself to only one, maybe two sours in a day, and haven't had any problems.

does this happen to anyone else?

no vomiting, but i've noticed a "sour stomach" the morning after drinking one. especially if we drink it late/last.

^^lol, asshole. i should have kept on driving.

it was a very well run release yesterday. I think Foothills made the right move by holding the official release until the very last minute. It kept the crowd at an amount the pub and staff could handle and everyone was able to get their share of bottles.

We got in line around 5:30am, we were #148 and 149. When the pub opened at 8am there were probably 200-225 at the most. The WSPD allowed drinking in line from 2am-5:30am and from everything i heard they were really cool about it. But it was smart to stop the drinking at sunrise. the crowd wasn't rowdy, everyone (for the most part) was sobered up and respectful with only a few obnoxious people, none i came in contact with.

got to try some nice beers. In very small amounts, but they still left an impression. Hill Farmstead Society 4 and Heady Topper just to name a few. The HT, in a 4oz pour was all it has been cracked up to be. I was instantly hooked.

Lonerider is in the process of building a new tasting room. I went over there yesterday to drop off a keg and there are no longer stairs to get to their office Good for them doing well enough to expand.
