Newly elected GOP Congressman comes out in support of same-sex marriage
Republican Congressman David Jolly says he still believes in traditional marriage, but he thinks the state should recognize same-sex marriage 'as a matter of Constitutional principle.' A Florida ban on gay marriage was ruled unconstitutional last week, but marriage licenses in Florida are on hold pending appeal, the judge ruled Monday.

RNC has a problem with AP History tests because...

Quote :
"AP U.S. History exam fails to adequately discuss “the Founding Fathers, the principles of the Declaration of Independence and the religious influences on our nation’s history.”"

Rush likens Robin Williams' depression/suicide to liberal worldview:

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2014/08/12/robin_williams_and_the_pop_culture_media

Quote :
""He had everything, everything that you would think would make you happy. But it didn't." Now, what is the left's worldview in general? What is it? If you had to attach not a philosophy but an attitude to a leftist worldview, it's one of pessimism and darkness, sadness. They're never happy, are they? They're always angry about something. No matter what they get, they're always angry. "

Progressives would do well to try and cater to low information voters this way too, realistically. Not every voter cares about stoic policy rhetoric.

Republicans have been very effective with coming up with catch phrases for their issues (death panels, obamacare, axis of evil, entitlements, calling people socialists, etc.), and these things work.

Some republican candidates are appearing to become more progressive on social issues, or they're just saying that to get elected.

if only we had a figure head doctor, like a supervisor surgeon person, to head an organization of health professionals they can dispatch in a national emergency. surely the nation would want to appoint a person like that quickly, and not block it for trivial reasons like tweets about guns or something

"Liberals favor CNN, MSNBC, National Public Radio and The New York Times, but none of those sources more dramatically than another. Conservatives have an overwhelming favorite: Fox News Channel, according to a study of media habits released Tuesday by the Pew Research Center.

A majority of conservatives said they distrusted fully two-thirds of the news sources they were asked about. Besides Fox, the only organizations the conservatives trusted were the Wall Street Journal, The Blaze, Breitbart, the Drudge Report and radio shows hosted by Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck. Four others were equally trusted or distrusted.

By "they" you mean the 2,901 random online respondents to the survey? I really don't understand how half the posts in this thread are related to "GOP credibility." But then again, I'm the one responding to the post above so that makes me part of the problem I guess.

does their credibility go up once the presidency is the only thing blue?

IM NOT MAKING ANY PREDICTIONS OR ANYTHING BECAUSE GOD DAMN I AM ALWAYS 100% WRONG.

but would you interpret that as american anger towards democrats?

or are you guys just going to claim republican cheating etc?

or better yet just call americans dumb. thats simple enough. im really just curious (not trying to pick a fight).

they still have something like a 70%+ disapproval rating, if they gain seats i think the only conclusion would be that people are unhappy with democrats, or unhappy with incumbents, but not that voters have some kind of mandate for what republicans are doing right now

if Republicans take the Senate, how quickly do you think they stomp down any talks about impeachment? Do you think leaders will make public statements against any who still call for it, or will they just ignore any continued calls for it and hope no one notices?

I hope leaders publicly acknowledge that there's just a fringe talking about it and that nobody is taking it seriously. But it needs to come from top Republican officials.

Do Republicans really respond to associating anyone and everyone with a (D) beside their name to President Obama? I ask because I saw commercials running that morphed a guy's face in a state senate race (Watauga County) into that of Obama's. There has to be a point at which such absurd comparisons simply become comical.

Also, has anyone seen ads from conservatives about teh gheys being able to get married now? I would have thought Judge X or Register of Deeds Y would have somehow been attached to all of this silliness in some rural, conservative county.

So how long before the NC GOP institute a 3min time limit to vote like they have in Louisiana? Try voting for candidates, 14 state constitutional amendments, and local referenda...

" The House will then move quickly to eliminate individual parts of the law, Boehner said, including a tax on medical devices, a provision that Americans without health insurance must pay a tax penalty and a 15-member healthcare payment advisory board expected to launch next year that has been derided by Republicans as a "death panel.""

http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/11/06/us-usa-congress-boehner-idUSKBN0IQ26920141106

So this is pretty hilarious... they're not actually looking to change the parts of the law people seem to hate most. I'm not sure what getting rid of the advisory panel is supposed to do, and i haven't heard of the medical device tax having any kind of real impact.

The terrible reasoning used for it is that you could use a phone to record your votes to certify to someone paying for your vote that you voted for who you were supposed to. Obviously terrible reasoning since the elections are bought much more subtly than that.
