I like those things. One of my co-workers had a mac & cheese recipe she wasn't allowed to write down. Her mother made her memorize it when she was finally allowed to know what it was. My new diabolical plan is to marry into a family with lots of them and steal them.

Not all southern recipes have actual flavor....I just have to say that.I have had lots of southern people cook and say they "put their foot in it" with it only to turn out tasting like paper.
11/9/2009 3:45:58 PM

BOURBON PECAN PIE2 large eggs (slightly beaten)1/4 cup dark Karo syrup3/4 cup sugar4 teaspoons corn starch8 tablespoons butter1/4 cup bourbon6 oz semi-sweet chocolate1 bag pecan halvesPreheat the oven to 350 degrees.Mix eggs and Karo.Combine sugar and corn starch, add to egg mixture.Melt chocolate and butter, cool. Add bourbon and combine with egg mixture. Beat together in mixer on slow speed.Pour into a 9 inch unbaked pie shell. Sprinkle evenly with pecan halves.Bake on cookie sheet for one hour. Pie should be firm and will "set-up" while cooling. To make an impressive looking pie, lay the pecan halves on top in a circle around the edge and keep making circles until the pie top is covered rather then sprinkling them on top.

WHAT?!!!!!!!! But the bourbon is the most important part of any dish!
11/9/2009 4:01:25 PM
I know! I blame the fact that I was drinking while making it and a little toasty by the time it was done.
11/9/2009 4:02:25 PM
Well you shouldn't cook with bourbon you wouldn't drink. They say the same thing about wine.
