I'm guessing that replaced the Hoptober Golden Ale.

disregard the dirty wall, but i thought this was just outstanding. loved the carbonation, how it played on the tongue. loved the fact that there was more of a hop presence than most saisons. wish i had asked the guy to pick me up more than one bottle.

on a side note, the beer community is kinda neat. a guy who i had never met, but we're in a trading facebook group together, saw this in new orleans, along with a bunch of drie fonteinen on the shelves in a store. posted about it, i paypalled him some cash, then we met up at flying saucer and he gave me the beers i "ordered", having never met each other before.

pretty neat stuff.

It's been one of my favorite pumpkin beers the past few years so I'm hoping it was just a bad batch. It was really close to being a drain pour.

Prospero - Is there any bottle store I should visit while in Denver this weekend? I'm there for a wedding so don't have a ton of free time, but would like to see if there is anything out in CO that I can't get in NC.

It will have to be something good, as I will have to pay the fee to check my bags because of it

although it's notoriously wrong, and mostly only domestic micros, you can check

http://seekabrew.com/distro/index.html

to compare distros, and find out if it's worth your while.

If I were you, and had limited space, i'd focus on

Boulevard - I thought I heard Boulevard was coming to NC, so if that's wrong, pick up some things in the smokestack series. I haven't had anything I don't like from that line. (Just watch the best before dates on triple wide and potentially the collabs... the white ipa collab can still be found like, years later).
Deschutes - their "selects" thingies are awesome, and awesomely cheap... like $5 bombers. i think the current is "hop in the dark" which is a really good cascadian dark ale. you may be able find some bbxxiv around still. not sure how long it sits in colorado. still sitting here. abyss is supposed to be showing up soon i thought. i dont know when your wedding is.
Firestone Walker - fresh double jack. i think prosero said there's 4 packs. nommy. wookie jack too. also, no sure if the other ones are still around, but almost anything they sell in a box is good... parabola, sucuba, double dba, etc.
Funkwerks - big ole want right now. prospero can give guidance on this one.
Goose Island - just stay away from their big bulks. don't know if juliet/sofie/matilda are around, but worth a try (these are right up my alley for what i'm enjoying the most now)
Odell - i've had Myrcenary and liked it.
Port/Lost Abbey - up to you.
Russian River - SOURS. supplication/consecration/temptation are all amazing, and out right now i think. salvation is good. i dont know if they get their ips there, but look at the bottling dates on blind pig and pliny.

but im talking out my ass and should defer to prospero.

also, if you find that santa fe java stout somewhere in a can, it's tasty, and my "bulk beer" right now.

2nd question. Since I'll have to put these in my checked luggage...any potential for problems with the rough handling of luggage? I'll pack them in pretty tight with some clothes to prevent moving around, but just something I was thinking of.

when i do this ill take bubble wrap, rubber bands, electrical tape, duct tape, and a garbage bag in my bag on the way.

on the way back, secure the caps with watertight electrical tape wraps (probably not necessary, but i'm anal), then wrap the bottles in the bubble wrap, secure the wrap with rubber bands, put them all in a trash bag (in case of leakage), wrap the trashbag with the duct tape nice and tight, and then place in a suit case with at least 2 inches of clothing or other compressibles on all sides.

you want to be comfortable with picking up your bag and throwing it across the room.

i would recommend packing a few gallon sized freezer bags. that way if they do break at least the spill will be contained. if you pack them in the middle, between all of your clothes you should be fine. maybe throw a few pages of bubble wrap in if you have any extra laying around. or pack an extra sweatshirt or two for added padding.

anyone had this?

Bring gallon-sized ziplocs or one large garbage back to prevent leaking out of your suitcase, but honestly I've done it via airplane before and haven't had anything break.

First question I'd ask is where in Denver you'll be?

If near downtown you'll want to hit-up Argonaut Liquor & Joy Wine and Spirits, Argonaut has the largest selection, Joy has smaller but has more limited releases than Argonauts. If outside of town there's quite a few others, one being Mile High Wine & Spirits.

The full lineup of Goose Island is coming to Colorado... later this month. And when they get here at the end of the month it will only be their regular line-up, until the next vintage release. As of now we only get Sofie (pretty awesome), Matilda, Pepe Nero, and Pere Jacques

Deschutes Abyss hits Colorado last week in November.

It's a shame you're coming this weekend as next weekend Avery Rumpkin is released.

Here are my recommendations:
- Russian River Supplication (should be around town)
- Russian River Consecration (was here 2 months ago, haven't seen it recently)
- Russian River Temptation (just hit this week)
- Russian River Damnation (non-sour, but damn good, regularly available)
- Firestone Walker Double Jack (22oz. & 4-packs)
- Firestone Walker Double DBA (might still be on shelves if you can find it)
- Firestone Walker Wookey Jack is a good Rye
- Funkwerks White (funky belgian wit)
- Crooked Stave WWBB & WWBI (brett beers, are on shelves I know at Joy Wine & Spirits downtown)
- Elevation Signal De Botrange Chardonnay Barrel-Aged Farmhouse Ale
- Odell Deconstruction (blended wild ale)
- Lost Abbey Red Poppy (flemish sour) or Lost Abbey Angel's Share are still hanging around the smaller shops, both are 375ml
- Dry Dock, their DIPA is right up there with Pliny in my book, and Apricot Blonde are both awesome choices for local Denver beer (22oz.)
- Deschutes- Black Butte XXIV if you don't already have it
- Anchorage Galaxy White IPA & Whiteout Wit (both pretty good if you like Brett)
- Pliny the Elder if there's any left, we just got a batch yesterday dated 9/10/12, so only 10-days old, but it typically sells out in 2 days... then we have to wait another 5 weeks typically before the next batch makes it here. Unfortunately no Blind Pig.

Joy W&S should have almost all of the above. Argonaut had some JW Lees left last time I checked as well.

If you want Boulevard, this is the latest smokestack that's available, you MIGHT find Saison-Brett as well:
- Boulevard Reverb Imperial Pilsner

I thought Boulevard came to NC though.

If you don't want to check the beer in your luggage (and save the $25 baggage fee), you can always buy a cardboard box & bubble wrap and ship it ground for same price or less and probably be able to send more of it home.

OH BY THE WAY, DENVER OKTOBERFEST STARTS THIS WEEKEND BE SURE TO HIT IT UP!!!!!!

^^yup, those would be the 2 I'd go to in Lone Tree.

FYI, here is Lukas' beer update, check later today he'll probably post what's coming in today, Thursday's are typically the biggest day for new releases:
http://coloradobeernews.blogspot.com/?zx=49b1bdfddd53c96a

I'm not sure how much limited stuff those two stores have as they're huge stores, but if you see any Avery Uncle Jacob's Stout or Avery Oud Floris I'd highly recommend those as well (they are limited Avery Barrel-aged series only in CO).
