Now that I think about it, I can't imagine that Jon Snow is the son of Robert and Ned's Sister or has legitimate claim. Ned would have known about it, and I suspect it would have factored in when he was trying to prove that Joffrey wasn't Robert's son. Although, I guess the first step would be to disprove Joffrey before doing anything else.

He found them when he was with two other Nightswatchmen right before they were attacked by the others at the end of the last season. He was digging in the snow for something and found them buried under some kind of crest, wrapped in a Nightswatch cloak.

i havent read the books and nor watched this past weeks episode.

while i have enjoyed the season im disappointed with all this Winter is Coming bullshit we heard about before the new season. i figured the season would have played out differently.

its funny, while i've been bored with this season, to an extent, i have yet to find an episode dragging and wishing several episodes were longer.

Why does she need to use some amazing strategies?

She's using the strategy of... "I'm attractive and have a famous name" ---- a strategy used in our very own society today.. and for a long time beforehand.

Then she switched to, "I have dragons... this is a hold up!" --- This is my favorite strategy of hers, personally. And to be fair, she did go in and learn about the unsullied, about the slave masters, and the people, etc. before making a move. And she made the choice to free the slaves and kill the slave masters in hopes to win over the unsullied.

Then she switched to, "Now I have dragons and 8k unsullied... make this deal I want to make willingly, or I'll just take what I want"

And yes, men make sacrifices for her based on her looks.

She's strong arming people. That is a strategy, and one that has been used in real life for a very long time by many people. Just like demonstrating the use of nuclear weapons served to deter many people, I suspect using dragons and other force would do the same. There is strategy there. Not battle strategy. But she's not in a battle just yet.


The writers give everyone everything on this show... and take it away. If she was some amazing strategist, it would be because the writers gave that to her. I don't get that line of thought at all. Saying you don't like her character is one thing, saying that the writers just give her things compared to others is odd to me. Her character is one that has had some things given to her, and one who has taken things by force.

I didn't make that claim. Nor am I an apologist so much as someone who sees it differently than someone else (mostly people who have read the books it seems). Or is this binary, you're either a Dany basher or a Dany apologist... no room for genuinely enjoying the character and her story so far?

I understand that those who have read the books may be less interested in certain story lines than those of others for various reasons (anticipation?). But as a non-reader (i.e. having no expectations of what will happen or when), I find Dany's story line to have a ton of potential to be awesome as long as there's plot movement. And when there's not, at least there's potential for dragons and bad ass soldiers. From what the people who can't stfu about the books have said, it seems that not much really happens with Dany in the near future. But as someone who doesn't/didn't know that... a battle could break out at anytime as far as I know. Which I'd love to see.

I see it very similarly as all of the wedding shit in Westeros. It didn't really move anything along that much. I always enjoy the interaction between Tyrion and Tywin, and Joffrey, etc. But Tyrion threatening to cut off Joffrey's dick was entertaining on the same level as seeing a dragon do something is entertaining and they moved the plot along equally (not at all really). If you're going to give me those things as filler, I'll take a balance of them.

That said, I'd like to see more of Arya's story line the most simply because I like the character and the potential she has as she grows older. Robb's is sort of boring imo. It has great potential, but the budget limitations hold it back I think. They don't even do a good job of showing what a great strategist he is according to the book readers. Unless moving some carved stones around on a map makes you a great war strategist.

TL;DR -- those who have read the books seem to not like to see much of Dany because of what you know from the books regarding plotting and pacing. I haven't, and it seems like something awesome could happen with her at any moment. But there are other story lines I'd like to see more of.

I think the problem is that we all want to binge-watch 8 episodes at a time and they feed them to us one by one over a 3-4 month period. The people who complain are control freaks who can't appreciate how incredible this show is. If it weren't, you wouldn't all be in here bitching week after week.

Yeah I can't complain about Dany, of the 10-or-so storylines they have going right now, she is definitely NOT the worst of them all.

I'm fine with how she's acquired her army so far, I mean who wouldn't want to fight on the team with the hot chick leading it and has 3 dragons? Plus she hasn't really had to wage a single battle so far, but I hope she sees the flaws in running with a mercenary army(kind of if they cheat with you, they'll cheat on you mentality).
