He did say "off the court" and since the investigation has still not been linked to the basketball team he may not even know about it.

From the DTH and not IC, but wouldn't be shocked if this guy posted there.

Quote :
"A sick and nasty comment for sure. It's not Roy's fault three of the
best players bolted for the NBA. Besides, Roy's players are first and
foremost, scholars in their school work, and secondly, great players.

Graduation rates are more important than win-lose records for an amateur
team. College is amateur; college is for learning first, and playing a
game (which people have taken way to seriously). Roy is a classy guy who
fits well with UNC. To hell with winning and losing; Roy is a winner,
and it has nothing to do with his coaching record."

i like how we hardly ever get to play duke in football and they hardly ever have to play clemson and fsu

i mean 10 years ago on paper, i guess you'd think VT/Miami and Clemson/FSU would balance out, but oh well

^i'd expect GT would since they're the actual division champs

wake forest and boston college are tough rows to hoe.

FWIW, TOB had 3 wins vs FCU/Clemson; 5 wins vs. BC/WF. hard to complain about other divisions when you lose 7 of 12 to BC/WF

i'd rather get easy wins over duke and virginia and have kind of tough games against vt and miami than have easy wins over wake and bc and have very tough games against fsu and clemson

and yeah, wake is good at home, blah blah, but still, their division is currently easier

i was just looking 2005-present. FSU won twice, Wake once, Clemson once, VT three times, and GT once (*)

i just love that the scandals, floundering football team, etc has proven that UNC fans are not one iota from what they claim state fans are. the letter to the editor of the DTH was just the icing on the "pot-kettle" cake

Because I have entirely too much time on my hands

From the NCAA Rulebook

Quote :
"

19.5.2.4 Probationary Periods.
19.5.2.4.1 Conditions of Probation. The committee (or the Infractions Appeals Committee per Bylaw
19.2) may identify possible conditions that an institution must satisfy during a probationary period. Such conditions shall be designed on a case-by-case basis to focus on the institution’s administrative weaknesses detected in the case and shall include, but not be limited to, written reports from the institution pertaining to areas of concern to the committee (or the Infractions Appeals Committee), in-person reviews of the institution’s athletics policies and practices by the NCAA administrator for the Committee on Infractions, implementation of educational or deterrent programs, and audits for specific programs or teams. If the institution fails to satisfy such conditions, the committee (or the Infractions Appeals Committee per Bylaw 19.2) may reconsider the penalties in the case and may extend the probationary period and/or impose additional sanctions. (Revised: 1/10/95, 4/24/03)

http://www.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/D110.pdf
"

So basically its left up to how it was defined by the committee on infractions as what conditions need to be met. It just so happens from the committee on infractions the following is provided.

Quote :
"The Committee on Infractions advises the institution that it should take every precaution
to ensure that the terms of the penalties are observed. The committee will monitor the
penalties during their effective periods. Any action by the institution contrary to the
terms of any of the penalties or any additional violations shall be considered grounds for
extending the institution's probationary period or imposing more severe sanctions or may
result in additional allegations and findings of violations.
An institution that employs an
individual while a show-cause order is in effect against that individual, and fails to
adhere to the penalties imposed, subjects itself to allegations and possible findings of
violations.
http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public/ncaa/pdfs/2012/university+of+north+carolina%2C+chapel+hill+public+infractions+report+march+12%2C+2012
"

Long and the short is that Carolina is in violation of their agreement with the NCAA.

Well, if their T-shirts had some sort of disclaimer on their tag, maybe it isn't a violation. I mean, no way the UNC team could overlook this right?

The ACC actually declared last fall that no team should be recognized for a regular season championship (conference or division) if they are banned from postseason play.
Im sure the Swoff will be all over it.

Miami beat GT which beat UNC which beat Miami = 3 way tie

Miami and UNC beat the 4th place team (VT) while GT lost that game = GT eliminated from 3 way tie

UNC beat Miami = theoretical champion

FWIW, my source in the know told me that Stuart Scott doesn't actually have cancer. It's all a ruse to pimp the new version of p90x. Scott and Tony Horton both worked out at the Venice Beach world's gym in the late 1980s.

Proof: @StuartScott: "Here's what I do right aftr chemo. Leave the infusion center & go STRAIGHT 2 either do a p90x wkout or train MMA..THATS how you #LIVESTRONG"

Any institution with access to legal counsel would likely avoid having disabled students purposefully injured on national television.

"Haven't P. Rivers, Erik Kramer, and R. Wilson combined won fewer conference and Super Bowl championships than Jim McMahon?"

Same can be said about TJ Yates, UNC's only starting QB ever and he only started 5 after Schaub broke his foot last year.
