You can't right now. The bootloader is locked so custom roms is a no go until they figure out how to get around the signature check. Who knows if/when that will happen.8/4/2010 12:19:24 PM |

When I do this, it doesn't keep the date changed. It just reverts back to the correct date. Even with the "automatic" option turned off it still changes it back.8/4/2010 12:22:13 PM |

Quote : | "Rumors have begun to fly around the dark tunnels of the interwebs (here and here) that the FRG01B Froyo update for the Motorola Droid has been halted due to unnamed bugs. Seems odd right? You’d think that pretty thorough testing had been done before they decided to start launching this puppy. Right? On a related note, you may recall the leaked FRG22 Froyo build for the Droid that we posted this morning which definitely came as an extremely interesting surprise. Why would Motorola and Verizon be pumping out new builds if the OTA is rolling out and confirmed as FRG01B? Well we just received this screenshot in an email from a reader and could potentially help clear up all this confusion (or compound it). He claims to have received FRG01B, only to be prompted immediately after with a “security patch” which was about “1.6mb” and took him to build FRG22. Did that make sense? Time to start cracking on Google servers for the file! It could potentially look something like this: https://android.clients.google.com/updates/voles/signed-voles-FRG22-from-FRG01B.e48e48ff.zip Update: I should add that if you updated to FRG01B yesterday manually, you are fine. There is almost 100% chance that a file will be available to upgrade you to whatever the new build is should this whole story be true. This happened to the Nexus One 2-3 times during its Froyo update. We’re digging deeper…" |

Titanium Backup is pretty good but not free 8/5/2010 10:52:36 AM |
pttyndal WINGS!!!!! 35217 Posts user info edit post |
^ Isn't titanium only available for root users? Not sure what's available for non-root users. The update doesn't wipe your device so you should be fine just upgrading. Apps, contacts and some system settings are backed up to google. So the only other things not backed up are app specific settings, sound settings, messages, etc. SMS Backup & Restore is a good app to backup messages.
MyBackup- free for 30 days. $4.99 after.
To truly backup everything you have to be rooted with custom recovery. ] 8/5/2010 10:53:24 AM |

If you hold down the volume rocker with the screen off it'll skip tracks. There's an issue to where it'll just keep skipping and you have to keep hitting it to stop. On the previous version, holding down would skip tracks and then decrease the volume some so it seems like they got rid of one problem and caused another. lol8/5/2010 2:35:16 PM |

Quote : | "DROIDX Froyo Update Delayed To September? On 08.05.10, In News, by Kellex Droid X users, please take a deep breath before you read this. And let me just say that “early September” is not that much different than “late August” when we’re talking about Froyo updates. Why am I prefacing this? Because the Motorola forums manager just dropped some interesting news on the DX community…
Some Droid X users are experiencing an issue using Exchange 2003 email. Though the email is arriving on the Droid X, no notifications are appearing. A fix for this will be included in the upgrade to Android 2.2 scheduled for deployment by early September.
He was responding to the growing list of people having issues with Exchange support on their device and managed to slip in a surprise timeline for Froyo. September…not August. Maybe Android 2.2 and Blur aren’t playing nice? And maybe this is the same reason that we still don’t have an official date for the Droid 2? Thoughts anyone?" |

Quote : | "For those of you who have been holding back from manually installing Froyo aka Android 2.2 on your Motorola Droid, you may want to rethink your game plan. For those of you that have, go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back even if you’ve been experiencing issues.
And I know many of you have.
The latest concerning Verizon’s rollout of Android 2.2 to the Motorola Droid has it getting delayed indefinitely because of problems with Adobe’s Flash. Apparently there is a glitch that they are trying to fix until they release the update to the masses.
That’s the bad news.
The good news is that you can install Froyo on your phone right now and not have to worry about the OTA rollout. So, if you are completely over waiting for Verizon to get their act together, you can go ahead and do that.
Otherwise, you could be in for some waiting. Or, you could just go ahead and pick up the Motorola Droid 2 which has essentially been confirmed for release next Thursday on August 12th. That of course is subject to change especially considering this turn of events, but it’s very likely.
If you want to install Froyo manually, you can head here. If you want to get Flash, you can head right here." |
