He also had insane map control all of the game until he eventually collapsed and lost the lead. I'm still not really sure how a pro-gamer loses that game. Huk's an incredible bad ass and an extremely good player, but AriA was seemingly WAY ahead. I've never seen a zerg player look as good as AriA for the first like 10-15 minutes of the game.

He definitely did. I watched it twice (once the full game, second time skipping around from Aria's view). As many are suspecting he probably is a brood war pro. Incredibly good mechanics but no game sense in terms of unit compositions. I do think it was a game where he played a little more solid then Huk at the start which snowballed into his huge early lead. I definitely would be interested to see if he could consistently get that much of a lead on Huk if they ever played again.

Hard with Zerg to put games away sometimes. You hit a point where you can get stuck with the wrong units and even if you are way ahead a max army of roaches, or muta/ling is worthless. Almost all the zerg units have this basic window where they are almost OP, but if you miss that window they go from OP to worthless. Hydras are that same way, there are times where I win games with them and decimate toss armies, but if I don't finish the game and 1 colossi comes out might as well let your lings kill them off.

So if you are just throwing armies away and not getting to the right tech, and they are just slowly getting upgrades and closing the supply gap you can lose pretty easy.

^^ You will move up when you stabilize at a higher league. For some people in can take forever, some people go super quick. At some point soon if you keep winning your opponents will be in silver rather then bronze. Keep beating them and you will get promoted.

So Catz was at one point #1 gm on the US ladder this season... after watching him play a decent amount I don't know why at all. I have better mechanics then him. He misrallys like crazy and has terrible unit positioning. He has good macro and thats about it. I think if I played as much as he did I would be 10x better then him. He can click fast, thats about it.

You can also get involved on http://www.playhem.com if you want to compete in structured tournaments on the regular. Cash prizes for some of the tournaments and free to enter. It's also broken down by league so you don't have to worry about playing grandmasters if you are only bronze.

Yeah I've played a few playhem tournies. I would recommend them for people of all levels as it they do offer tournaments based on division. Although I'm sure they are full of smurfs... but you still should have fun with it at any level.

I had a funny game against a pro in my first playhem tourney. Can't remember who it was... some terran. Beat him with a proxy hatch after he tried to 2 rax.

Its cool. My econ blew up after you dced, I was able to hold them and kill off a few xpos. But then the macro of making different units from different hatches caught up and started confusing me... they showed up with a mothership and gg. My control isnt good enough for roach/zergling/corruptor/muta/infestor against two armies. I mightve had them if I had neuraled a few seconds before he managed to toilet me with the mothership.

Just played an LOL ZvZ. Close air positions on Shattered Temple, so that means we both have free scouts. So we both go hatch first, only by the time his pool has popped he still hasn't taken a gas. So I assume he is going to go some stupid mass queen/spine or something to defend. I decide to pump a quick 20 lings as my speed was wayyy ahead, figuring I can do at least some damage if he has bad spine placement.

As it turns out he has the worst spine placement ever. He has 3 spines completed, 5 more building. This was what he built after scouting a pool and a roach warren, with me still droning at the time of his scout. All his spines are at the north edge of his creep bunched up... So I just run right on into the main. Killed two queens, 20 drones, took out a ton of lings and a few more spines after he moved them up. In the meantime I'm building some roaches and droning. I push down with my roaches and take out the natural, he throws up like 8 spines in his main. I left a few roaches to wall in his main to stall any type of ling response and teched to infestor, assuming muta. Sure enough as my infestors pop 6 mutas fly in... they die within 30 seconds. I then burrowed into his base and ended it.

He then gave me shit about how I was all-in (pushing with 20 lings when I have 25 drones off two base, knowing he has no speed) and how his play was not all-in at all.
