someone doesn't understand what the phrase "losing a coin toss" means. it means they were very evenly matched, so much so, that to say that Alabama is worse than LSU is not particularly possible, because they played the game almost exactly the same. as in, it might as well have come down to a coin toss. as in, someone had to win. and had Bama won, we'd be having the exact same argument with LSU and OSU.

Alabama BLEW IT! The game wasn't a coin toss, the game SHOULD have been Alabama's. How many times were they in kicking range (according to Saban's mind) and blew it? They were at home and their defense held the number one team in the nation to nine points but for some reason they couldn't muster ten.

They had FOUR blown kicks in that game. A failure of Kikerian proportions. Alabama choked when it counted and doesn't deserve to be rewarded with a national title berth.

Since we don't have a playoff system the regular season should be treated as a playoff. Alabama had their shot, much like Maryland had their shot in 1974. I've already seen what an Alabama vs. LSU game looks like, and even though LSU will probably truck Ok State, no one knows what would actually happen unless the two teams play each other. A lot of people thought that the real national championship game in 83 was between Louisville and Houston, and that they would run over us, yet we all know how that turned out. Same thing with Villanova in 1985. Never underestimate the underdog in these kind of games.
