only thing i've pre-ordered is some games from liongames because it was cheaper
i was going to try and stay away from bioshock, but there is just so much positive press about it, I might be trading in a few games to buy it
I swear, I need some more space between all these games.

i know...but trust me it's a don't miss game.
just go get the demo and play through it, and I dare you to say 'nahhhh, i don't want to buy this' 8/13/2007 8:51:40 AM |

haha
well since i just got gamefly, that will possibly be a rental i keep for about a month
there is no multiplayer, correct?
if that's the case, then I definitely can just play through 1 or 2 times, rack up all the acheivements I can, then send it back
even though that will probably be the most rented game on gamefly's list for a while
i probably won't get it until feb or march of next year, ha 8/13/2007 9:24:14 AM |

right, no multi
and they say speedruns would take like 8-10, goign through for everything around 20, even longer depending on if you try to save/kill all the lil sisters 8/13/2007 9:25:48 AM |

ok I played the demo for a bit, and it appeared to be a lot like Condemned. The darkness basically ate up any visual treats in the game. Why do they have to make a game that doesn't have any lighting in it? 8/13/2007 9:37:38 AM |

its called the darkness for a reason lolz 8/13/2007 10:10:07 AM |
Drovkin All American 8438 Posts user info edit post |
fix the color correction at the beginning
and i think condemned was a lot darker than the darkness...i would play condemned in a dark room just so i could see what was going on...of course that made it even worse when something would happen 8/13/2007 10:14:50 AM |

i hear ya about using gamefly. I usually do, but for games I know will be very cool I like to definitely own them personally. Regardless of MP play, because I know I will go back and want to have them on the shelf. I only buy the top AAA titles and it works out. Rent the others. I think the last game that didnt have some form of multi that I bought though was dead rising....so many games have it.
Esgargs....what type of tv do you have?
If you color correct the darkness/lighting looks absolutely fantastic. But if you don't have an HDTV or run this thing on a 7 inch camping portable tv well.....shit in, shit out. 8/13/2007 10:18:17 AM |

I usually play FPS games on my small 15 inch HDTV in the bedroom, because big screens make me motion sick, especially all this dark crap.
I might try it on the 55 inch HDTV in the living room, though.8/13/2007 11:47:05 AM |

set em on fire wit the incinerate plastid then follow em and electrocute em when they go to the water to put the fire out 8/13/2007 7:04:26 PM |

demo finally downloaded for me (took a total of about 6 hours)
I am a fan. I believe there is a bioshock thread somewhere, and someone was complaining that you have to switch from weapons to plasmids. I actually like it. I don't want a wrench in one hand, and a glowing electro left hand. I think the fact that you have to switch at the correct time adds some skill to it. If you had both, you could just blast and swing the whole time.
I've only gotten about 10 minutes into the demo (i'm taking my time, and it's scary just to listen to these people talk and mumble), but it seems pretty cool.
Still don't think it's a purchase however. I think it will be about a month rental from gamefly whenever my turn to get it comes. Once I play through a shooter, I rarely go back through unless there is multiplayer. 8/14/2007 8:36:22 AM |

where are yall at? it took me about 1 hour last night in raleigh.
^ i would be willing to bet that there will be some special unlockables or downloadable content that will strongly encourage more than one playthrough.

probably
the most obvious will be an acheivement for saving all little girls, another will be killing all little girls
probably like condemned..."no firearms", "all firearms", "kill xxx", "save xxx", etc
basically just different ways to play through the game
What i'll probably do is one thorough playthrough to gain all "collectables" and clear as many as possible, then a run through to clear the other obvious acheivements, and that'll probably do it for me 8/14/2007 8:47:15 AM |

The best value:
And have extra batteries charged so you never have to have a cord attached to your cordless controller.

AndyMac All American 31922 Posts user info edit post |
Nope, too much of a hassle to plug it in when I finish playing and unplug it when I want to play. Plus the play and charge kit adds extra and unnecessary wires to the equation. When I see the light ring on the controller start flashing, I replace the batteries in the controller with the ones in the charger. Takes all of 1 minute. 8/14/2007 1:41:08 PM |
esgargs Suspended 97470 Posts user info edit post |
How do you say crap like that?
So plugging in your controller is more hassle than walking to the charger, taking out batteries from it, opening your controller, replacing batteries, putting the old ones into the charger?
Some of you are so dense. 8/14/2007 1:42:21 PM |
AndyMac All American 31922 Posts user info edit post |
Plugging it in every time? yes, it is more of a hassle than changing the batteries about once every couple of weeks.
Plus the cords, I don't want them around, there are already too many of them. 8/14/2007 1:45:26 PM |
