What are my chances of finding a few bottles of Pumking in the Raleigh area next week?

Also, are there any absolute must drink beers found in Belgium aside from the regular fleet of belgians?

not sure about the triangle, but Pumking is a ghost in Charlotte now. I imagine it's popularity has made it hard to find in Raleigh too.

I would go to Cantillon and try some of the rare gueuze and lambics that are near impossible to find in america.

will do.

i keep seeing people posting pretty great gueuzes found in shops around new orleans. i want to know where they just sit on shelves.

ie, the guy who muled me 3f oude gueuze had bought four cases of that and the kreik.

the only gueuze im aware of i can get in my distro is cuvee rene. not that that's a bad thing. not even tilquin.

If anyone wants any Belgian Geuzes (or belgian beers in general), I will be flying to raleigh on friday and will likely have a half empty suitcase.

And thanks for the Cantillon rec, its only 15 mins away from my house.

Fou' Foune just came out and was at the brewery last week (as well as Mamouche & Vigeronne), you should get a half-suitcase of that. Unfortunately I'm not in Raleigh or I'd be all over that.

Jeepin4x4 - Brawley's posted a picture that he got the Smokestack Series in. Or at least one of them. I don't even know what they are, but I know people have been posting about them.

that's the standard logo for all the smokestack series.

the standard line for smokestack is the sixth glass quad, double wide ipa, tank 7 farmhouse, and long strange triple i think.

my ranks would be a tie between fresher tank 7 and sixth glass, then the triple, then double wide last. gotta watch the dates on the double wide.

their limited run smokestacks are the shit, usually.

from what i've heard the Double Wide that Blvd. has brought to NC for release party tappings has been pretty terrible. My guess is old kegs they are trying to get rid of

i hate to say it, but i often see double wide bottles that are up to a year out of "best before" date.

around here, even saison brett and others that age well sit forever... bourbon barrel quad sat forever.

in fact, i know one store right now if i wanted to i could go buy a '10/'11/'12 saison brett vert.

saison brett with a year on it is whoa good.

love rye on rye and bbq too. the collabs are hit or miss. many didn't but i loved love child #2. still got like half a case, although trading out half of them this week.

their regular line kind of blows, tbh. are you sure it was a double wide keg, and not a single wide?

The Boulevard bottles that showed up in Raleigh yesterday were pretty fresh...all of them had best before dates in 2013 or 2014 for the belgian style ones.

^^ditto, limited smokestack > smokestack > regular lineup, but so it should be.

i typically don't by anything except the limited smokestack, i do LOVE Tank 7, phenomenal. double-wide, eh, there are so many other double IPA's I'd rather have that are regular and cheaper.

Can anyone do a beer trade with me?

I live out in texas now, and there is a very good Oktoberfest beer out of Adelbert's that I would love to trade for some CBC brew. Any takers?

6 x Goose Island BCBS 12oz
1 x Goose Island Bramble

thoughts?

what was the price for the basc?

in regards to your post in the fb group

the heightened availability of the bcbs this year is kinda skewing it's "value", i wouldn't go much over $4$ for it, and honestly, you could get it for less than basc... despite how people are asking for a kings ransom for it... bramble on the other hand, i dont think has been released in the last couple of years or so, but there's another batch slated for february. i heard that the age on the last batch has really developed the beer to something pretty nice. people seem to be seeking it out again now.

from the hoarders posts it seems as if the bcbs is going for $19-27/4pack, depending on store and state purchased from.

shewolf was allegedly mind blowing when fresh. no idea about recently. esp. if the dude is calling it pipeworks.

i dont have access to either right now so take that for what it's worth. however, with the fact that basc is a release day event, blah blah blah i think i'd probably do the trade if i had a few extra bascs lying around. esp. if in person.

going to a bottle share tonight. looking forward to it.

BASC was $20 per bottle. I was just wanting to take advantage of another IP trade. Oh well, no sweat off my back that it fell through. maybe someone else from Chicago will come through town.

I'll have access to BCBS last week in November. Most likely will get Bramble again in February as well (sorry I drank mine already).

I sent you a list for trading too, nothing on there interest you? I guess you're looking for an IP trade first.

Just got Avery Rumpkin (BA Pumpkin) and new batch of Bitches Brew today.

Also what Facebook group? I'm in the Beer Trade ISO:FT group only.

typical wendesday afternoon small bottle share at karbach brewery...

they were bottling their pumpkin beer, and pulling bottles for samples right off the bottling line.... that was cool.

my personal highlights were (not pictured) growlers of black note and bcbs, and the 2002 cantillon lou pepe framboise....

i was talking to a guy about brewing sours for a while, met him there, then he's like "well let's open this up" and pulled the framboise out of his cooler, gave me about a 4oz pour, then the colony of glasses showed up to get a taste. that was just outstanding.

surprisingly, not that i saw. not saying that they couldn't have been whisked away..

keep in mind while looking at that picture this was supposed to be a "not sold in texas, or hasn't been available in the last year" themed share. the distrobution in texas blows horse cock.

so i guess the only ones that would be considered "shelf" beers that i saw were the not yet released beers from the brewery that hosted it, and from a (512) rep that showed up with half a case of last year's whiskey barrel aged double pecan porter. or maybe some of the avery barrel series, but i don't recall seeing any other than uncle jacobs around here.

this is kinda great.

the guy who owns/runs my favorite bar down here (i went last night) has started up doing contract brewing with clown shoes, under the name brash brewing.

the problem is, due to the dumb laws in texas, since he owns a bar, he cannot also distribute beers in texas.... so therefore, you have to go to louisiana, or some other state to get brash brewing.

the label of his newest release:
