I especially liked the nonchalant throat cut at the very end. No theatrics at all, just slice, fall, die.

I went into this episode expecting nothing at all. I hadn't read about it, heard anything about it, nothing...

However, when that guy shut the door at the wedding ceremony and the music changed, I knew the old man was up to something.

The main part of the scene that was very difficult for me to watch was the guy stabbing the pregnant woman in the stomach repeatedly and her lying on the floor dying slowly.
Mainly b/c I have a 6 week old at home so it was pretty close to home for me.

While shocking, it didn't really surprise me that they killed off some main characters b/c they had done it before.

Whoah. Finally watch this weeks episode. DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. I mean. As soon as the door was shut and the song started playing I knew it was not going to end well. But didn't see it coming before hand.

I need a minute.

my buddy who has read the books told me "next week's episode is going to be good, don't let anyone spoil it for you"

he was right.

When the bedding ceremony started I thought some shit was up, and even when they stabbed the pregnant girl (I'm terrible with names on this show) I still didn't think it would go down like that. Also, I thought the stark girl was going to let the wolves out, that was the saddest part

Looks like everything is going to center around Jon Snow now for the Starks and I'm thinking we'll find out that while he's a Ned's bastard, his mother will be royalty. I could also see some collaboration with Tyrion as they both are bastards.

In the first season Jon Snow asks Tyrion, "What do you know about being a bastard?" to which Tyrion replies, "All dwarfs are bastards in their fathers' eyes."

Yes, but I wasn't sure if he^^^^ was referring to that quote or was implying he was actually a bastard.

Fuck that

the stark story needs to revolve around Arya (sp?) and how she is going to kill everyone.

We've already established that lines of succession don't mean shit in Westeros. You gotta kill a motherfucker and keep an army paid.

They tried, that's for sure. Which is why I always question the "bastards have absolutely no claim" thing. Why send soldiers out to try to kill all of Robert's bastards if that's the case?

And as far as I can tell, if you can raise a large enough army, you have a claim to the throne regardless of who you are. It's just that it's really tough to raise an army if you don't have those ties.

it was more to eliminate evidence of Joffery being an incest baby

[Edited on June 4, 2013 at 8:49 PM. Reason : snow would have some claim to winterfell if he hadn't taken the black though]

Yeah, that's right now that I think of it. Ned had realized that all of Robert's line had black hair. I guess one way to prove that your blonde hair doesn't isn't a really odd outlier is to eliminate all of the known bastards that would give off that that black hair was the norm.

Do you? you just pretty much defined it.

I mean it really isn't hard to follow a few storylines at once. And you imply somehow you'd do a better job at it reading the books, which are arguably much more complicated.

The only conclusion is that you were baiting responses (like mine) for a kick. Or you're stupid. I was assuming you aren't stupid.

Within the scope of the show, very few people know that any Stark outside of Sansa is still alive.

Also, I have no idea how it works now that she's married to Tyrion though. Maybe they should just make him King of the North and have him topple Joffrey.

I was making a minor comment about the fractured storylines of the tv show, which often times are a summation of the storylines in the book. Somehow along the way I touched upon your hypersensitive white-knighting of anyone who insults the show. Congratulations, GRRM would be proud. Now carry on and get back to your LARPing.

i really don't think it's 'too fragmented'

3ish storylines covered in an hour long show is fine.

sometimes i briefly think "i wish we saw tyrion/dany/snow/whoever this week" but the show's structure generally makes sense.

that's what i predict the end of the series is, with the two of them ruling a united seven kingdoms together (and that Snow actually has dragon blood, too)

ahh, so I was incorrect. You're just stupid. Got it.

I don't care if you like the show or not. I just saw a stupid post and called it out. Sorry it rustled your jimmies.

I pretty much see the following 'lines':

Wildlings invading
Rikkum (sp?) and Brand
Starks war on the Lannisters
Kings Landing
Stannis
Blonde woman across the sea.

There are various other ones that i feel tie into the ones above such as arya in her current state, Jamie and the amazon, and the iron islands guy being tortured. I can never remember his name.

These aren't all touched on in a single episode. I will grant its more complex than an episode of Teen Wolf but its not hard to follow if you watch and listen to the show at the same time.

You don't have to watch the show. I feel like you can always find a re-run of HIMYM or Friends on some TV station. Although sometimes Friends has separate story lines for each of the six main characters...sometimes they combine the storylines (like Chandler and Monica getting together and Ross and Rachel)...so that should make it easier for viewers like yourself to be able to keep up.

I think it's fair to say there are a lot of threads to keep up with. When I was reading the book I started tagging the end of each thread so I could go back and catch up when it started back. I think I had almost 20 different tags at one point.

Hear my words and bear witness to my vow. Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men.
