If Smart wins it could lead to another fine example of "NC state shit". It is pretty ridiculous how being a possible candidate for the coaching vacancy seems to lead to 1-2 more victories to fuck with the timeline.

it's a catch 22, if he loses people are going to pint to a second half colapse as why he's not ready for the big leagues, if he wins we'll wait another week and have to fend off every other high bidder out there

well the first line is right, as well as stevens, but smart would come here, the problem is you'd be hiring a coach based off of 5 games or so, there are still plenty of good hires in between, turgeon, blaine taylor, marshall being the most obvious

I'm on record saying I'd rather not hire Barnes. He turns 57 next season and frankly, I don't think he is as good a coach as his reputation. Never won the Big XII and routinely gets knocked out before the Sweet 16.

I mean obviously it's a decent hire, but he just doesn't excite me as much as some others.
