Quote : | "Rick Davis: The last 8 years encapsulated
It’s simply not possible to lie more deliberately or flagrantly than this:
McCain campaign manager Rick Davis on Fox News this morning, when asked by Chris Wallace about the Troopergate report issued on Friday: "The reality is there was absolutely no wrongdoing found in the report — 1,000 pages — an enormous waste of time — and the best they could come up with was: no violations of any kinds of laws or ethics rules."
From the Report — the very first finding — page 8 (.pdf): "Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Execute Branch Ethics Act."
There’s no lie too brazen. There’s not a modicum of personal responsibility or acknowledgment of wrongdoing. Even bipartisan, unanimous investigations that result in adverse findings of wrongdoing are smeared and dismissed away (Davis: ”kangaroo court” — “big public circus” — ”this now drops dead and there’ll be no follow-up at all”). Chris Wallace, who is actually more decent as an interviewer than most of his colleagues, interrupted and confronted Davis with his lie — “No, it said she violated the state Ethics laws” — but Davis just persisted as brazenly as before with the lie. That’s a perfect snapshot for what we’ve had the last eight years." |

ABC's calling them out on the blatant lies too: http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/10/palin-makes-tro.html
Quick TWW survey: When politicians repeatedly say things that are demonstrably false, it makes me: a) More likely to vote for them. b) Less likely to vote for them. c) Neither more nor less likely to vote for them.
I'd vote "a". The willingness to flat-out lie shows a politician is a real maverick!!]10/13/2008 11:19:32 AM |

You'd think Palin would have learned by now that clear, blatant lying like that will only hurt you.
The only strategy I can see that having is to crystallize her base, hoping it encourages them to vote so the "evil liberal media" doesn't win.
Quote : | "and no more only talking about economics as it relates to investors and business.

Are you kidding, this would never work. How do you expect McCain to explain why the wealthy need bigger tax cuts than the middle class, especially when it's perceived they're in economic hard times? There's no way he can do that, without Obama being able to humiliate him.
The only hope McCain has is for Obama to screw up, a terrorist attack, or hope character attacks can stick.
There's lots of time left in this race for things to change, but McCain has yet to tilt things in that direction.

8% lead for Obama in Missouri?? If this is the trend in Missouri man, wow....Obama would have McCain in a headlock. He is forced to defend damn near every 'assumed' state in his column.
New SurveyUSA poll conducted for KMOX Radio and KCTV in Kansas City. The latest numbers show Obama leading Republican John McCain 51% to 43% percent in Missouri. http://www.kmox.com/KMOX-Survey-Shows-Big-Swing-In-Voter-Support-For-O/3127150 10/13/2008 12:36:10 PM |

I can't keep up the charade anymore. It's over and I know it. Unless Barack Obama devours a puppy on camera or John McCain disappears for a few days and then returns with the severed head of Osama bin Laden, we all know how this is gonna end. I completely agree. They don't realize it's about McCain's response to the economy and his lack of empathy in dealing with the trouble facing families that is killing him. He's completely all over the map with his political gambits..and that's wearing off all the indies he once had. That's his problem.10/13/2008 2:01:22 PM |

hey McCain, here's a good strategy: 1) Run your campaign into the ground with apparently dimwitted advisors 2) Get it so bad that Bill Kristol, a well known Conservative, comments that the "McCain campaign, once merely problematic, is now close to being out-and-out dysfunctional. Its combination of strategic incoherence and operational incompetence has become toxic." 3) Instead of listening to some advice, throw Kristol under the bus and claim he is just a shill for Obama now, and that he is "buying into the Obama campaign's party line." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/13/lashing-out-mccain-flack_n_134228.html

Amazing how race or character or association [irrelevant] comments by either side get a shitload of responses... but my post from a while back got none.
Quote : | "OK.
So McCain campaigns to lower gov't spending, then proposes a mortgage bailout that would let the mortgage lenders gain on the taxpayers' dime. Gov't buys up the loans for the adjusted value (most higher than they are actually worth) and we pay.
So they want to talk about "terrorist ties" when the economy is crap. He (and most supporters) talk about smaller gov't, then propose this $300+ billion mortgage thing out of nowhere. This, of course, on top of the existing bailout. Can people really support this?
He wants to give a $5000 credit for health care? Really? When my wife and I were buying our own coverage, it was about $700-800/month. My credit would be used up in 6 months or so. Thanks, but no thanks. Then on top of that, he wants to tax work-provided coverage as income?! Then he stated (in writing) that the tax collected from that would go directly to the health insurance providers?! I just don't understand how anyone could support McCain, even if you just looked at those issues alone.
Amazing. Personal attacks are usually evidence that you are running out of options and are desperate. By no means is Obama perfect. But dammit people... a tax on health care benefits? Come on." |

So, I like how Palin abused her power by... oh, that's right, her husband did it. Gotta love the findings of that commission, though.
I'll admit to not reading the whole report, but if the crux of their case is "Todd did all of this...", then I think it's going to be hard to say, with a straight face, "Sarah abused her power." Now, find me something that says she told her hubby to do it. Or knew what was happening and completely ignored it, and I will reconsider. Truly, I will.
