My friend has given me $600 to shop for him with. I get to keep $100 though.

I've bought him some fun stuff already, but I am gonna go searching for an outfit for him to wear on Valentine's Day. I'll look out for stripe shirts!

I've gotten him things from Banana, Jcrew, and Martin & Osa. All have pretty good sales going on, so I've only spent close to $200 which is really good.

He wants to have a more updated casual look.

my former OBGYN did a rectal exam everytime. my current one does not. you can ask for it, but at a certain age you should get them yearly.

Recently bought:

Really nice, lightweight. Detail is a little hard to see, but its got a little bit of shirring detail, with a somewhat empire waist. All bamboo *coughRAYONcough (sorry, I'm cynical about a lot of the organic hype when it comes to clothes)* with a touch of lycra. It form fits surprisingly well, which I really like. And I was looking for a more casual dress, I've got plenty of nice black cocktail dresses. I think this fits the bill nicely.

And I bought boots today. I went off ambrosia's hint about Stein-Mart, but all the sizes of the higher boots were at most a 7, and I don't want any ankle/lower boots/booties. But, I found a pair for $30 at DSW - it was hard. Everything was either brown, patent leather or REALLY pointy heels.

And, I can't seem to find a single darn picture of the boots I bought. Round toe, matte black finish, two buckles (the buckles are growing on me). But god, I didn't even look at the heel height..shit, I'm gonna be over 6' tall Poor boyfriend.

haha rectal exams are always a surprise because of randomness of doctor's

First time the doctor did it after growing up with one that didn't I made a squeal. Not fun

im sure the rectal exam really didnt have anything to do with finding hpv/cancerous cells on the cervix

since the cervix isnt up the anus......

sounds like a coinkydink to me

ive seen a few gyns/fnps for my yearly.... and thankfully i havent gotten the finger up the but.......whew!!

^^^ I got it at a place in Southern Pines called River Jack Outdoor Trading Company...it's a store similar to Great Outdoor Provision, where they sell brands like North Face, Patagonia, Columbia, etc. They were having a nice sale, got a Royal Robbin shirt as well (just a simple elbow-length sleeve shirt). The dress was $35.

It's by a company called prAna. I've got a reversible wool blend vest from them that I've gotten a few compliments on that I got during the last Cameron Village sidewalk sale from Great Outdoor (http://mirror.altrec.com/images/shop/photos/PRA/38060_m.jpg).

^^she found the warts or abnormal cells, or whatever, in a rectal exam

it was one of the strains that leads to cervical cancer...i believe the doc called it a "particularly nasty strain"...

the girl also smoked like a freight train which the doctor said, more than likely, contributed to it's development...

um any good products to make your hair grow faster? shampoo etc. that you've had actual exp. with. I really miss my long hair and should have never cut it when I did.

I don't think they really make anything to help your hair grow faster. Most things I've heard that stuff is a myth. I mean things that help keep a healthy scalp might help, but I've never heard of anything that could make hair grow faster, if I had I'd be using it, I'm wanting to grow out my hair.

my hairdresser friends all say the only thing you can do to make your hair maybe grow faster is to massage your scalp regularly. They said it increases blood flow and may stimulate growth

This will be the first time in a looooooooong time that I've let my hair get past shoulder length. I'm looking for boobage length at least and see what kind of styling I can get.

I'm excited since I rarely brave the long hair and when I did I let it do it's own thing which was lame.

i don't k now if there are any products that will do the trick, but ive always heard massaging the scalp can help....gets the blood flowing a little more smoothly, although i don't know the validity of this.....

also, on an unrelated note, my most favorite recent purchase....

from etsy nonetheless. and it fits perfectly !!

http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showthread.php?t=122445

Here is a 12 page thread discussing using dollar store monistat to encourage hair growth. These strippers really know their shit when it comes to anything beauty related. They talk about other ways to help in there too, and I think if you dig, theres a link to a long hair forum that talks ALL about it.

Free kit (link in that FAQ link) of everyday minerals.

Apparently, they're kind of like bare minerals, but without a common ingredient that ultra-hippies tend to notice. Heard of this through Hygge house/pet the pretty things, and man, that woman is a diehard hippie.

I'll report back when I get it, since I do use bare minerals.

That stripper forum is really interesting.

I want a new straightener for my thick wavy hair that I won't have to use for 30+ minutes to get my hair pin-straight.

What kind of flat iron would you recommend?

does anyone still get pimples? what do you use?

i have been under a LOT (i mean a lot) of stress recently and my skin is freaking out

usually i'm the person that can go without washing my face for like 800 days in a row and NEVER get a zit.

but now i wash and i am getting stupid little zits. get them awayyyy!!!!

also my skin is super dry. so i don't even get where they are coming from. and all the soap/cleanser i use just dries out my skin but the 3 pimples i have will NOT die. i don't get it.

disclaimer: this isn't acne like pizza face acne its like, pimples that pop up randomly here and there. and no white heads!

I've had the same problem recently. I haven't broken out at all in years, but all of a sudden my skin kinda freaked. I think at the start it was stress, but then I started washing it too much, and I also started using a new kind of cleanser. So right now I'm trying not to wash multiple times a day and went back to my old cleanser. It seems to be helping, but too soon to really say.

^^^ this is exactly me. my skin has been fine and i never even had breakout problems when i was like 15 or whatever. but i switched cleansers i guess and i have been washing more because i want them to go away. so maybe i should try switching back and not washing/applying astringent/etc 800 times a day.

i also switched makeup but i switched AFTER the problem had already begun to a more non-comedogenic foundation so i would HOPE that isn't contributing to the problem

^ maybe i should try something like that. i've seriously been trying everything, which isp robably only making matters worse. ugh.

do not wash more then normal this will only agitate it and make it worse. its prob. just stress/time of the month etc. and ya your skin does change as you get older so that could be it too.

i'm guessing it is stress. it is just weird that my skin is DRY with breakouts. isn't it? maybe not. i thought it would normally be oily with breakouts. it is hard to find face wash/cleanser for dry skin + breakouts. they are all for oily skin and that isn't me! i might try what you recommended.

I use checks and balances by origins. I have ALOT of their products 1. b/c it works for me 2. b/c they are all about using natural and organic products. 3. and Estee Lauder company - the estee prices. 4. all their stuff lasts a long long long time and you need a very small amount.

honestly check them out. go into a store or a counter and just ask for samples esp. the face wash i mentioned. they'll be happy to give it to you. prob not the spot remover though.

So I have naturally long lashes, but I'm addicted to mascara. This weekend I got curious while at CVS and bought the Maybelline XXL lash extension (red and white tube). I tried it and I'm a huge fan.

Next I'm gonna try the Lash Stiletto and see how that works.

Anyone else tried these? I'm super stuck on my Chanel imitable mascara as well as Benefit's Bad Gal Lash. So far this one stacks up. I hope Lash Stiletto is shiny like it says because that's what I love about the Chanel. This XXL isn't shiny but my lashes are pretty long today.

if you are starting to break out as an adult its best to just head to the dermatologist.

you will save $$ in the end bc you won't waste it all on boutique cleansers

The doctor told me to do this.

Wash face with Pupose Cleanser (morning and night) and in the morning put Clindagel on it along with moisterizer with sunscreen in it, and at night put Retin-a micro on it with the moisterizer.

I mean you have to get perscriptions for those two meds, but when I remember to use them it does work.

good luck with the retin-a
that stuff tore my skin up!!

i am on clindamycin and differin, as well as yaz (if you break out around you jaw line its most likely hormonal so sometimes they will prescribe b.c. to counteract that)
since its winter, i am only using these at night because they tend to dry my skin out. i use an antibiotic moisturizer during the day. first time in YEARS that my skin has started really clearing up. haven't had any of those painful under the skin deals, and if i do get a pimple it is generally very small and goes away quickly. i spent so many years and so much money trying different cleansers, i could kick myself for not just going to the dr. and having this sorted out in the beginning.

My face looks awful right now, it probably has to do with it being winter, but my skin is peeling and red and I'm breaking out. I look like a 12 year old kid right now. But I've also been going through some stress, which probably isn't helping things out.

The reason I went to the dermatologist though is because I have a "rare form of acne" on my forehead. But he said that if I use this medicine and it doesn't go away in 6 months then they will do a biopsy, and I'm like great, it's either acne or cancer.

I like the clinique soap, toner, and moisturizer for breakouts. Using the moisturizer is key, if your skin gets too dried out it just produces more oil.

well the pimples are subsiding. there were like 2 on my chin and i have attacked, attacked, attacked. all i used was cleanser (i've just made sure to wash my face every night...sometimes i get lazy (drunk) and don't). and then i just got some neutrogena on the spot creme stuff and it seemed to do the trick without too much drying. i mean my skin is naturally dry which is why i couldn't find like a good soap. but the neutrogena stuff seems to work. just the creme cleanser---i don't even think it is for acne.

i also recently noticed i sleep curled up with my hand curled under my chin--i don't know if this is a new development, but it could be one of the causes of the pimples. hand to face for 8 hours is probably not a good idea.

though i guess it would probably be a good idea to see a dermatologist at some point because stress is not a friend to my skin.

Did the same to me as well. I could only put the Differin on every three days too. It was all too strong for my skin. The only thing that really worked for me was birth control and Clearasel's spot acne solution.
