Possibly underrated

N.C. State: Few, if any, would give North Carolina State a chance in the ACC's Atlantic Division race. But counting out the Wolfpack would be a mistake. Sophomore Russell Wilson is the conference's premier quarterback, and NC State can't be overlooked as long as he's healthy. He threw 17 touchdown passes and only one interception last season, and he rallied the Wolfpack to a four-game winning streak to close the regular season. That included wins over Wake Forest, North Carolina and Miami. The defense has to improve, but seven starters return, including end Willie Young. NCSU has made steady progress in two seasons under coach Tom O'Brien, and a significant leap could come in his third year. The Wolfpack probably won't show up on any preseason top-25 lists, but if Wilson stays healthy and the defense makes progress, they have a chance to break into the rankings.

Michael Taylor narrowed his schools to a list of 3. Unfortunately we did not make it:

Under Armour All-American Michael Taylor reveals new top schools

ESPNU 150 Watch List outside linebacker Michael Taylor spoke with ESPN's Billy Tucker about the current status of his recruitment.

"My new top schools are Miami-FL and LSU," said Taylor, who registered 128 tackles and six sacks last season. "Stanford is strong at No. 3."

Several other programs such as Georgia, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, N.C. State and Virginia Tech have also offered Taylor.

He posted an electronically-timed 4.54 40-yard dash, 4.38 20-yard shuttle and 29-inch vertical at the Atlanta Nike Combine.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound prospect also drew Class of 2010 offers from Maryland, Central Florida, Duke, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Virginia, West Virginia, Akron, South Carolina, Michigan State and Louisville.

Javarie Johnson committed to Miami:

ESPNU 150 Watch List defensive end / outside linebacker Javarie Johnson of Dunbar (Washington, D.C.) has given a Class of 2010 commitment to Miami-Florida.

The 6-foot-3, 208-pound prospect chose the Canes over Maryland, Michigan and Michigan State. He was also offered by Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Louisville, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, New Mexico and West Virginia.

He told ESPN affiliate Web site InsideTheU.com, "I love the campus, the coaches are great, and the atmosphere around the team is cool too. It is like a family down there. I got to hang out with some of the players and they all had very positive things to say."

ESPN's Craig Haubert added, "Miami has been putting their focus on in-state talent, but just added its first out of state commitment with Javarie Johnson and it is a good pick-up."

"Johnson is an athletic and physically good looking kid who seems like a natural fit for the Miami defense despite not being from the Sunshine state. He is a bit of an outside linebacker / defensive end 'tweener at this point and Miami could have some options in how they use him. We feel end may be the better long term fit for him, but regardless of which position he plays the Hurricanes will likely get him involved quickly as an edge rusher as he can wreak some havoc rushing the passer. He needs to add some more bulk, but this kid has very good athletic tools and is fine out-of-state pick-up for Miami."

Johnson had 90 tackles and 10 sacks as a junior.

The Canes now have nine pledges, including five ESPNU 150 Watch List prospects.

A TE that we are targeting, but haven't offered yet is Evan Wilson. He already has an offer from the Air Force academy, but is looking for more. Purdue and State are in good standing with him as it is now. He hails from Woodstock HS in Woodstock, GA. If you all remember 09 OL commit Duran Christophe went there and has been talking to Wilson about State. He played both DE and TE in HS. He's a 3* prospect on Rivals and has yet to be rated on Scout.

that 1540 is probably on the 2400 point scale. Converts to a 1027 on the 1600 point scale. Still not shabby for a football player.
most people with 3.1 gpas don't just barely miss perfect scoring the SAT.

Corey Crawford narrowed his search to 3 schools. We did not make the cut:

Three programs looking good for Corey Crawford

Highly-touted defensive lineman Corey Crawford (Columbus, Ga./Carver) told ESPN affiliate Web site AuburnUndercover.com, "I have a close eye on Clemson, Auburn and Florida State. There is no particular order. Those are just my three schools I am looking at."

Crawford added that he intends to make official visits before announcing his decision.

Brian Vogler committed to Alabama

Watch List tight end Brian Vogler picks Crimson Tide over Sooners

ESPNU 150 Watch List tight end Brian Vogler of Brookstone (Columbus, Ga.), who holds over 40 scholarship offers, announced his college decision Wednesday for Alabama over Oklahoma.

His list also includes LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida State, Arkansas, South Carolina, Clemson, Miami-Florida, Stanford, Maryland, Rutgers and North Carolina State, among many others.

ESPN's Craig Haubert talked said of Vogler's decision, "Nick Saban added a potentially big piece to the Alabama recruiting puzzle that has been missing. While the Crimson Tide have recruited very well under Saban the classes have been void of a tight end prospect that can be a potential weapon, but today they added a commitment that has the tools to be a key element of the Alabama offense."

"ESPNU 150 watch-list tight end Brian Vogler jumped on board with the Tide today and gives Alabama a player who can be a big target in the passing game and a nice weapon in the red-zone. He has good height and while he may not run by or elude many defenders he can be a tough match-up as a receiving target because in conjunction with that size he can also extend his arms and catch the ball with his hands. He is a kid who has the size and physical nature to also develop into a productive in-line blocker."

"Vogler is a good pick-up for Alabama as he is a piece previous classes have lacked. He has the tools to be a good well-rounded college tight end and his addition should make Alabama quarterbacks and wide receivers pretty happy."

As a junior, the 6-foot-6, 236-pound Vogler caught 21 passes for 465 yards (22.1 average) and six touchdowns.

Vogler, also a basketball prospect, has been offered roster spots at Alabama and Oklahoma.

Alabama now has eight ESPNU 150 Watch List prospects among its commitments.

Lots of updates today, I apologize for the long post.

Kalon Davis committed to Clemson, Ed Reynolds has us in his top 5, Kevin Haplea has his top 5 and we aren't one of them but UNC is, and Jeff Luc who ESPN says we offered (I don't see him in aph's list) named his top 4 schools and we are not one of them.

Clemson secures pledge from in-state blocker Kalon Davis

Offensive guard Kalon Davis (Chester, S.C.) has given a Class of 2010 commitment to the Clemson Tigers, multiple sources report.

Other programs such as N.C. State, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, South Florida and Wisconsin also offered. Alabama, Penn State and South Carolina expressed interest.

Davis earned third team all-state recognition for his performance as a junior.

At the Atlanta Under Armour Combine he posted a 5.69 40-yard dash, 5.07 20-yard shuttle, 8.53 three-cone drill and 20.5-inch vertical.

Nation's premier inside 'backer Jeff Luc names schools under consideration

Under Armour All-American Jeff Luc (Port. St. Lucie, Fla./Treasure Coast), who's holding scholarship offers from coast-to-coast, spoke with ESPN affiliate Web site EyeOnTheTigers.com about the current status of his recruitment.

"I'm still considering Florida, Florida State, Georgia and LSU. And maybe some other schools. I don't know. I just want to take my time."

Miami-FL, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, Ole Miss, N.C. State, Nebraska, Rutgers, Arkansas, Clemson, Auburn, and Georgia Tech amongst others have also offered Luc.

As a junior, he posted 119 tackles, nine sacks, two interceptions, five forced fumbles and four pass breakups.

Jersey tight end Kevin Haplea to announce Monday, reveals top five

Kevin Haplea (North Hunterdon, N.J.) spoke with ESPN affiliate Web site NittanyNetwork.com about recent developments with his recruitment.

"I've scheduled my announcement for Monday at 11 a.m., a little after our team workout that morning," Haplea said. "The announcement will be at my high school."

He continued, "I have my top five of Penn State, Florida State, West Virginia, Pitt and North Carolina. I've been to all of them."

In 2008, he caught 17 passes for 223 yards (13.1 average) and two touchdowns. Haplea also recorded 60 tackles and nine tackles.

Virginia safety Ed Reynolds set to decide

Ed Reynolds (Woodberry Forest, Va.) is expected to commit to Stanford, North Carolina, N.C. State, Vanderbilt or UCLA, ESPN affiliate Web site InsideMDSports.com reports.

The Bruins and Commodores have not offered Reynolds, who is placing a strong emphasis on academics.

Thats fucking bullshit. Did I read correctly that he recieved a prayer for judgement earlier on the same day for an alcohol related incident? If so, he's thats borderline insane. I wouldn't be surprised if he got his 'ship yanked for that. Figures. I'm hope Crisp hasn't been involved in any of this shit. He's got a hell of a lot more to lose IMO. Fortunately he wasn't involved in either incident.

I think you have to pull his ship. Regardless of his relationship with Crisp, he obviously didn't learn anything from his first run-in with law since he went out and did it again the same day he was offered leniency. That's borderline retarded. It makes us look foolish to keep a guy around like that.

Way to fuck it up Pete Singer, especially the only reason you got the scholarship in the first place is because of Robert Crisp anyway. One less deadweight scholarship.

Why do these kids throw their lives away like this? He had everything going for him, and it is all in jeopardy.

Ridin' dirty after already facing some trouble and getting a scholly to his school of choice? That's pretty stupid.

Moving on... when's our next commitment?

Well trying to look on the bright side of things, atleast Obrien and the rest of the staff can cut all of the dead weight prior to the season starting and get someone in who REALLY NEEDS the scholarship b/c the Singer looser clearly could care less about having a scholarship from us!

^^^^^^^The Aids comment earlier was stupid and maybe you should shut the fuck up since you have never worked in a group home with teenagers who are battling Aids you stupid fuck!
